PvP matching system for newer players
Five isn’t a lot… you’re probably just not as good as the average player, so it’s natural that you’re going to lose a few before the matchmaking system is accurate for you.
All you can do is be patient. I can say it definitely gets better over time – I’m in ruby now, and I don’t see AFK players, and my matches are usually pretty fair; my win rate is about 55%, now.
I don’t remember how many games it took me before I started winning more than I lost, but it probably took maybe… however many games it takes to get the second pvp title before I felt like I wasn’t being carried when I won.
Mmr calibration takes more than 5 matches.

If you’re brand new then your rating (which is hidden) is provisional. It’s trying to figure out how good you are so your results will be more consistent when you’re established.
that’s actually one of the thing that works right, even if it’s frustrating. As a new player, your mmr isn’t yet calibrated and it’s normal that you’ll lose a few since your current skills are probably lower than the majority. They’ll match you up with what they estimate is the closest match until you end up with a 50-50 chance of winning.
Any game with division, league and ranked season works like this, and it’s not bad.
Beside, 5 is very little, I was on my 20th loss in a row when I quit for unranked and finish my wintersday reward track.
