PvP modes announced TEN months ago
See? This is a great example as to why they don’t tell us anything until it is more or less ready.
As for the near future comment, that might very well be past already. Near future is not more than a few months after all.
And we HAVE seen new names that very well might be new PvP-maps/modes in the dat-file quite recently, so I would think they are coming quite soonish.

No, this is a case of them putting out a tidbit of information and not following up on it. Communication needs to be regular, it does not have to be daily but certainly not once a year. You cannot fault the community when you say something is in the works and 10 months down the line they want to know whats going on with it.
How should they follow up on them though?
Saying: “We are still working on them”? I doubt people would find that enough. Why not just assume that as long as they don’t say anything, they are still working on it?

Yeah. Thought that about April. Thought that about September. You know, TEN MONTHS.

You’re right, because assumptions are the best way to communicate with the community. These forums, I swear.

Maybe not. But yet people keep assuming that they are not working on anything all the time.
If we don’t have information about them not working on something while we do have information (although a bit old) that they ARE working on something, why should we not live under the impression that they are indeed working on something, seeing as that is the latest actual information we have?

So let’s assume they are working on it…

Okay, time to do other stuff!

Thats not the point. The point is sPvP is developing way too slowly. Let’s take a step back. Its been a little over 2 years since the game has launched, and sPvP still has 1 game mode….1. The last time a map for our only game mode was over a year ago. What the hell is going on over there should be the question.
Transparency isn’t the only problem at Anet. Its how long they take as well. Its like they have 1 or 2 people working on sPvP. Its also probably because of how much they iterate on their work.
IF ANYTHING, they should tell us what they are working on completely, because like many many times in Anet’s past, they work on something for a very long time and then reveal it at the last moment upon release, and then there is some fundamental flaw in the system. Look at the new trait system, look at the new player experience. Two big endeavors that have many problems with them.
So let’s assume they are working on it…

But… I think I’ve been doing the same thing for… 2 years…
I don’t have anything to do in this game anymore besides complain on the forums :^)

Afaik the “Ready Up!” show was created with the purpose of streaming the progress of PvP developement every 2 weeks, which is a pretty cool idea. We had 1 show about gamemodes so far out of 22 ready ups.

And would people really want them to show more or less the same thing over and over and over and over and over again every 2 weeks? Because it might very well end up being just like that. Not enough visible progress made to actually show new stuff/changes every two weeks.
