PvP season 3: Accepting you got outplayed
very often there is nothing you can do to turn a game. just cause you and a few others get lucky doesn’t mean the game is fair to everyone out there.
Personally, I wouldn’t care if I lost every game if they were all within 50 points…. at least that way I could say it was my fault and that I could have got us those 50 points. but losing by 200+ every game is not something that “getting better” is gonna save. I don’t care how good you are
Dont know what all the complaining is about. Matchmaking is better than its ever been. Some people just cant accept the fact that maybe, just maybe, the opponent they are playing simply outplayed them. Forget about “bad teammates” or “opponents too good,” how about learn to be a better player.
I play thief and I’ve solo Qd every game so far. So saying stuff like win streaks are impossible in solo Q are nothing but false.

Ehmm a 70% win rate with a 17 game win streak ALL in solo Q is not getting “lucky” lol. I’m not trying to say I’m one of the best GW2 PvP players but I certainly am one of the more competent ones. And if you lose by 200 points, then YOU have to think back and understnd what went wrong at a specific point in the game that could have caused you to be in that position. And when you find that specific moment, ask yourself, what could you have done differently that could have positively impacted the match in your favor.

I’ll post a picture of my match history when I have the time to get on. I have my necro here because I switched classes at the end of the match for daily Achievemnt. And I’d rather just Q up and switch when I get into my next match lol.
Where does this fit in your logic?
I would say bigger share of my matches were complete blowouts (regardless what side).
By your logic i shouldn’t have made it out of sapphire considering i lost matches there 500-100.
The MM is rigged. Read what Evan wrote, put 2 and 2 together and you will realize it is unfair from begin with before match even started.

lol please. I’ve had games where I could have afk’d the entire thing and still won and those that I lost regardless of how good I am.
There’s a difference between self improvement and having the entire system stacked against you and even though I can progress just fine I still think the system is stupid.
Wow. Some people are so caught up in their own delusions. If you truly believe the system is rigged then you’re paranoid and should stop playing this game. Maybe play a different game, take a break from Gw2.
All I’m saying is, maybe you should take a step back, look at your gameplay and go from there. GW2 is NOT a hard game lol. This game has a really low learning curve. In terms of skill level, this game has a really low ceiling. Most of the time it’s about learning positioning, awareness and disengaging.
yeah i only won this game because of my superior positioning and 1337 clutch gameplay with amazing mechanical and rotational skills.
Wait maybe not?

Blowout happens , doesn’t mean much at all. It happens in any pvp games, what’s your point?

for what it’s worth, i agree. a lot of people seem like they think they should be higher than the win/loss/win/loss pattern but evidently they aren’t.
to the people who say that they aren’t in the right division and that they deserve to be higher, simple challenge: prove it.
Let me say this: if you continue to blame the MM or other teammates for your losses, you will never improve because you don’t know what YOU are doing wrong. You know who you are. Suck it up and do something about it.

Yeah. The forums are full of pretentious, ignorant individuals who ALL think they play GW2 PvP at a high level. Oh please.

Maybe you should also get out of your delusion that you are good enough to beat the MM.
Anet has ADMITTED that the system is rigged, some people will fall on the losing side of the algorithm, others will fall on the winning side. This doesn’t mean its good or fair.. And (some) people are right to complain about it.
You are right about one thing though, the only thing each and every one of us can influence is our own play. So the only thing to improve is that. I’m ‘lucky’ enough to be in the middle of the system, so I don’t see too many blowouts and can rightly blame my own mistakes for losses! I wish for everyone to have that chance, it is much more entertaining.

Lol I didn’t beat the matchmaking. (so you guys have gone so far into your delusions that now it an entity that can be beat? Ok)
Me and 4 other players beat a group of 5 other players in a game of conquest. Simple as that.
I’ve played in every PvP season so far and I’ll tell you this. These are just rough estimations btw. In season 1, my win % was 46% Season 2 it was 49% Season 3, 72% And remember, thief was arguablely one of the worst classes in both those seasons. Now, in season 3 with a new meta, thief performs really well, in fact maybe too well. So is it just a coincidence that my win rate is high this season because of how strong thief is this season or could it be I’m outplaying the competition?
Can confirm, thief OP.
Team up or lose
Should have been solo quequueueu but anet wants the people who have friends to be the winners.
My friends have quit and I have returned to attempt attain these wings but this system is a drainer and limited time makes it impossible for me as a university student.
They should reconsider their game modes and the way players are matched up.
I keep getting put in a team with cloths being a cloth myself we get rolled kind of stupid

Sure. It’s evidence of getting on the lucky side of a faulty matchmaking system.

Unfortunately, most of the time it happens that specific point tends to be the moment i clicked “queue for ranked”. Because i can’t change the people i play with after the match has already started.
Blowout happens , doesn’t mean much at all. It happens in any pvp games, what’s your point?
Yes, blowouts do happen in any pvp games. Occasionally. When you get more blowouts (both wins and losses) than close matches, it shows there are some deeper problems with the game, though.
Yeah. The forums are full of pretentious, ignorant individuals who ALL think they play GW2 PvP at a high level. Oh please.
Funny you say that… just after you claimed that 70% winstreak is all due to your personal skill.
Anet admitted system was rigged? When?
In one of the matchmaking threads they gave an explanation of current matchmaking that’s shown they’re still running the “designated winner vs designated loser” system and that the matchmaker is not even trying to create really competitive matches.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
So…. this is what happened in S3, not hard to figure out.
1 is low, 10 is high:
- Amber is a 1, 2, 3 festival full of the ambers/emeralds from previous season but also has a few outlier 5s, 6,s 7, 8s, 9s, ect.. who didn’t play in the previous season but mostly 1s, 2,s 3s.
- Emerald is full of 3s, 4s and 5s all players from sapphire/ruby previous season. You have again some outlier numbers like 6s, 7,s 8s + who didn’t play much previous season.
- Sapphire begins play with some 5s who grinded hard previous season, probably mostly 6s and 7s and then they are mixed in with 8s and 9s who are trying hard and of course pro player level 10s.
The problem here is that when that competent 7 range sapphire who didn’t break diamond or maybe finally hit the 1st pip of legend, begins play in sapphire with all the 8s, 9s and 10s, he is literally at the bottom of the MMR barrel in that divison so he will ONLY be placed in the weaker teams vs. the higher MMRs. This will go on for quite some time before the higher MMRs filter out in to diamond and legend.
Why does this feel so volatile? Well the season began with everyone starting at 0 pips between amber, emerald or sapphire so there is NO pip connection for that 7 range sapphire to possibly be matched against emeralds who are at end of emerald division because they all start at 0 pips in emerald so he WILL be facing the people who are climbing higher within sapphire until more emeralds begin to hit the end of emerald. This just highlights = lose streaks for the people who happen to be the lower MMRs within that division they started. It’s the same for the ambers, the emeralds, everyone. Since there are fewer people participating in S3 than ever before, it’s taking awhile for people to climb divisions to give the guys at the tip of their division “who happen to be the lower MMRs in that division” a break from lose streaks.
This is exactly what is happening and it is also the reason why you hear one person say “I just can’t win matches this season” and then a different person say “I’m on a win streak bruh, 25+” The people on win streaks happen to have been on the higher end of the MMR range for the division they started in and were getting good matches initially before they rose in pips and were able to meet players of higher divisions.
That’s your win streak.
Grats on starting as a high MMR player within your division.

Armor weight does not indicate tankiness in GW2. Elementalists and Necros are some of the tankiest professions out there. You’re looking at the composition all wrong. There’s damage, there’s bunker, and there’s sustain. Guardians are heavy armor, and they have the lowest base hp pool in the game. I’ve seen engineers (medium) and tempests (light) hold points against 3 attackers and barely sweat it.
I know you have limited time, but it’s important to have a basic knowledge of how professions work in pvp, if you’re planning on getting the wings. No insult intended, and I hope this clears things up. Cheers!

Yeah I get what you mean but no, all heavys are heavy.
5 warriors vs 5 necros…. 5 wars win just because perfect condi clear and more defence. xo

Make that 2 tempests, 1 reaper 2 chronos vs any combination of warriors, dh and revs. Then those heavies will find themselves in a very different situation.

I played with premade the last days and 99% of my matches has been premade vs premade.
Was the matchmaking good? Yea it worked as intended 4 diamonds/legendaries vs 4 diamonds/legendaries.
Were the matches fair? No, we basically won everything 500:100, 500:200.
But I just like how everyone is posting irrelevant screens to prove that the “matchmaking” would be so bad.
I’ve seen screens where 5 rubys fight 5 rubys while one team gets 500:20, which means that one team had 5 terrible players.
—> thing is the “matchmaking” can’t find out who is a terrible player since all of them are ruby
Another one is posting a screen where you see 4 diamonds vs 4 rubys, complaining about how unfair it would be.
—> not taking into consideration that it is possible that the ruby players could be 1 pip aways from diamond and the diamond players could be only 2 pips away from ruby.
It is way more unfair if a player with 1 pip in ruby is fighting another ruby player but with 15 pips. THE PIP RANGE MATTERS NOT THE DIVISIONS
The only legit complain is actually when soloqers get farmed by 5 man premade.
And no a duoque that loses against a triple queue is entirely something different.
You all crying for a “perfect” matchmaking where all 10 players should basically have the same amount of pips, where matches end 500:499 and where not a single class is stacked. But on the other hand, you go crazy when you get quetimes past 10 minutes.

Most of the time there is something, but you must work hard for it. If you play solo/duo you must be prepared to carry hard. If you want to rely on your teammates you should play in a team. If you play solo/duo you need to correct the mistakes of you teammates and carry them through fights, if needed. You don’t have voice com, so watch the minimap and your surroundings. So you see fights which need help, open portals …
Even dev post confirms that MM favors one team over other yet we have people here that believe everything is fine and it is l2p issue lel.

in a game that ended 500 to 300 you maybe can say ‘yeah I could’ve helped more’ many got us to 400, but how can you honestly say one person can make up 200 points in a team oriented game when teammates don’t know how to rotate/target/focus/and die within 10 seconds of being in combat? you can’t. facts are one person can easily lose you the game but one person can not easily win you the game.
Are we playing the same game? Most of my matches are close like this:
No you game looks way better… I think most of us are playing RISK
