Foreword:
What are 10-player servers for??

5v5?
1v1?

I’m confused by the fact that many 10-player servers, with the capacity that is exactly the same as tPvP games, are more often used as “dueling rooms” instead of being actually used to play 5v5.

1. Many 10-player rooms are being used by 1v1ers. As a result 5v5 is now hard to find in sPvP. You have to play tPvP to get a real 5v5.

But i must say, 5v5 is, in my opinion, way more fun to play than 8v8 in sPvP. The later simply brings in too many players and very often 8v8 are zerg fests.
5v5 in sPvP should not suffer from 1v1er using 10-player server to duel.

2. 1v1ers hate to be interrupted by random hotjoiners.
Some 5v5 players do not want to enter a room ending up seeing tons of 1v1ers.

Both problems are constantly happening because a player has no clue what a 10-player server really is.
Simply naming a room “Server XXX” is confusing.
When I see a 6/10 room on my server list, is that a 3v3 game or 3 groups of 1v1ers?

3. We like 1v1 dueling. We also like 5v5 games. But these two are so often being mixed up players cannot get the match they want.

Ending Note:
I advise that ANet brand certain 10-player rooms “For Duelers”, “1v1 Only” or simply create 1v1 servers to meet the need of 1v1 players.
In the current state of Guild Wars 2 PvP (regardless of class balance), both 5v5 and 1v1 are very fun and skillful to play.
A solution is needed to bring improve the matchmaking environment for both 5v5ers and 1v1ers.

This will be moot when custom arenas come out, and even though that’s probably far away, I doubt they are going to spend time to fix a “temporary” issue.

I agree it’s very frustrating. Sometimes you want to duel and people want to play for real. Other times you want to play for real and they want to duel.

Would be easier with a pug only queue of “tournaments” as hotjoins will be useless other than for duels. Everyone gets what they want!
