Q:

So, this question has been on my mind for a long time now, maybe the devs mentioned it during one of the many streams and I just didn’t understand, but anyway:

What does “baseline” exactly mean? (PvP-Perspective)
Does it a) mean that a trait, for example the future Illusionary Persona or any other trait that is said to be baseline, will always be available, even in the famous 0/0/0/0/0/0-spec or does it
b) mean that the trait is baseline when I pick the affiliated spec, in this example it would be Illusions?

Thanks in advance
Corax

A. When a trait is made “baseline,” it is integrated into the class regardless of what your build is.

AFAIK the definition that ANET uses originates from Dark Age of Camelot – where every class had “base” lines of skills, that you automatically gained abilities from based on your level. Where as the non-base line abilities required you to invest points into the skill-line to obtain.

As BlackBeard stated, option A is correct. Regardless of build, the specified change is now incorporated into the skill.

Btw, they way you made your thread, the title name starts with a big QQ. kind funny. ;P

Baseline means the skill without any modification from traits, specialization, etc. When you make something baseline, it means that the effect which one was a modification of the skill, usually via traits, is now part of the skill(s) before traits, specializations, etc are applied.

For example, when Illusionary Persona becomes baseline, it means that all shatter skills count the mesmer, even if you have no trait lines selected or unlocked.

be careful, I think this applies only to PvP in PvE/WvW there is an unlock system for skills etc with hero points, so I think those “baseline” things can also be here to unlock at first, not really baseline from the character creation

Is there somewhere to go to see all the changes in one place? Like a Wiki? The GW2 Wiki is extremely lacking though.

The sign in and add to it. The wiki is an information base maintained by players.
Don’t whine and complain about something, some of us volunteer our time to try to add too as we can, and maintain. Get off your duff and assist, or stop complaining.

Don’t take it personally. Part of the reason it is lacking is there are so many other sources of information nowadays. People get spread out in their contributions to information.

Back in the day the GW1 Wiki was just about the only place for information about the game so just about everyone contributed to it who was interested.
