Team [CUTE]
QT Vain
I’ll be bold, blunt, and honest. As a matter of fact, this post will most likely be infracted, but I’m writing it anyways.
To start, I will openly admit I’ve been away from this game for a few months now, but I’ve been keeping tabs on the community, the gameplay, and the forums. I used to once be known as a 360 no-scope MLG all-star at this game, but I’ve been forced to retire the mouse and keyboard. Even before I stopped playing, I ventured out to different games in a vain (no pun intended) attempt to be pleased by them, and that was to no avail. What I’m trying to say to all you “nay-sayers” out there is that you need to stfu. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Having moved to Korea and obtaining a stupid amount of ping, alternate play times, and a heavy work load (RL), I just simply cannot play this game anymore… It’s been kittening depressing. I have honestly been yearning for this game for the past month, despite all the “BulLkitten ANET puts us pro peeps” through.
Now that I simply can’t play anymore, all I can do is stand on the sidelines and watch the streams and the forums…. and this is where I get to my true point. Quit being whiny “female dogs” (that’s right ANET, I just beat the system). It doesn’t matter wether or not you’ve played this game from release, or if you picked it up yesterday… Everybody has their own opinion, and let them be entitled to it. Quit beating people down for what they think, and start making a stronger community. You guys are ridiculous. Why put yourselves in a position to play in a small, hostile environment purposefully? For the most part, everyone that pvp’s has played a previous game that has demanded balancing issues, or major fixes. From WoW to LoL to Gw2, all these games at least have 2 simple things in common…. Balance and content. Surely, fill the developers in on what needs to be fixed, or added, but quit bashing each other for your thoughts. Again, you guys are ridiculous.
As kittening nerdy as this may be, there were points when I played this game that I was proud of where the community was leading. But, from the looks of it, you’ve all turned downhill again. You blame the developers for being undermanned, underfinanced, or sometimes even “worthless”. But, you fail to remember there is always two sides to every coin. The devs have brought you one of the most solid games I’ve ever played in my life, but yet you kitten on them for not releasing content when it hasn’t even been out for a YEAR. No game has ever been launched into perfection. Now, some of you are probably thinking “Uhhh, well Vain technically this one game…” Stfu, I’m still talking. My final point is simple, patience is key when dealing with a new game. If you want your game to become “perfect,” then you need to make the final decision as to wether or not your going to make the game grow, or if your just going to uninstall.
Developing games is never easy, everyone here has been witness to that with every post-WoW MMO. Quit whining and sniveling about how ANET abuses it’s players, and be pro-active. Do something.
BTW, I’m still the best ele in these parts. Don’t get that twisted.
Hello mom, im in a closed thread!
on topic: althought i dont agree with the forms, your pov has some logic. Respect
Your whole post reeks of the negative atmosphere you are trying to condemn.

alot of ppl got mad on the last SOTG when they said there would be no ratings for a long time to come just another leaderbord on the forums just like the QP leaderbord except this time you cant see how close to advancing you are.
then people got even more mad when the balance guy karl said he balances this game off of reading the forums instead of actually doing real testing and collecting real numbers so i made a post that you replied to in hopes of helping him do is job correctly so people are not as mad.
ps i miss you even though i dont like you but i need you even though i dont want you..

Every MMO had a rough start, I know that Arena Net is taking smalls steps but eventually we will be at the point where the game will be perfect and Imo the best PvP game out there. People also have to realize that (I really dont like comparing GW to other MMOs since its not a WoW clone at all) WoW havent had battlegrounds in the game for the first 6 monhts there was only Open World PvP and also arenas havent been there till TBC – thats 2,5 years after releasing the actual game and Im also pretty sure that LoL havent had Ladder, 5v5 solo/duo, 5v5 premade and 3v3 premade ranked games and queue in the game from the start it took them 8-9 monhts to implement this features, till that point there were only normals. Also the community wasnt that big in any e-sport games such as Starcraft or League of Legends from day one.
Everybody has their own opinion, and let them be entitled to it.
A ton of people feel like they have been mislead and then strung along month after month resulting in wasted time and money.
WoW and LoL have the most toxic communities imaginable, but millions still stick around and play because the developers are able to meet the expectations of large numbers of players.
If the game is unable to attract players then it doesn’t matter how friendly the 5 wannabe pro’s are. Its not like a few nice words from a streamer are going to get a noob to start playing 30+ hours a week, especially in a system where they will get farmed for a long time.
Pretending spvp is the best game ever is actually a dis-service to people interested in competitive play. Expecting people to pay money to beta test a game way past its prime for another 6+ months isn’t working.
BTW, I’m still the best ele in these parts. Don’t get that twisted.
Self proclaimed “best”. It amuses me so many people claim to be the best. I will give that some people have a tiny cult following, but that doesn’t make you the best.
I pretty much ignore the people who claim to be the “best” because in most cases they are not worth listening too. Just a over inflated ego and the desire to be the “best”.
The sPvP community is very…. how do I type this without getting a infraction…. “poor” on a good day. I am fairly certain the sPvP scene is dead at this point with very little hope of revival. With all the “pros” running around you would assume the game is doing great in sPvP……
Yeah he used the term “pro” way too loosely but aside from that he makes some good points the pvp community is kind of ridiculous right now but i think it will grow and get better as the game grows and gets better and you cant really expect much to change before that.
(edited by Spelling B Champ.3264)
I think the madness that goes on around here is because people know the game has potential but stuff like balance fixes comes at such a slow pace maybe our grand children will have balance. This philosophy of small changes just doesn’t work, because players have limited patience.
Although, it sounds like you have a number of personal issues messing up your QTness, I do agree that the community should be patient and respectful towards the developers, because GW2 has the promise to offer the best PVP of any MMO.
Then again, we’ll be quickly closing in on the end of the first year after release and it’s no lie that the SPVP department comes in last in terms of effectvie playerbase, which affects the balance and content issues you mentioned.
BTW saying you’re the best insert class makes you sound like Athene, besides you play on the NA servers and we all know EU has the best of any insert class…
Wow, 180 from where I expected this post to go. Totally agree. Game is lacking in areas sure, but it’s progressing and frankly there is no pvp game I’d rather be playing right now. All of them are flawed, and gw2 is the most fun for me.
Game not finished. Maybe my payment for the game should be in installments then.
Game issues like this are a more recent thing.
Or maybe it is just classics nostalgia I am stuck in. But this is not anything exclusive to PC games. I have seen similar things on consoles. I think games are trying to do so much nowadays and we expect so much as players, that there are bound to be cut corners or places that we do not thing are fully fleshed out.
I think people are upset to the degree they are because of the obvious disparity in resource allocation. It’s hard to say ‘well they’re working really hard just give it time’ when the pvp/wvw departments are so obviously neglected in favor of pve. I think most people on this part of the forum came into the game expecting to be treated as an equal part of the playerbase, and that isn’t happening.
Personally, I think this game has a ton of potential. The combat system is the most enjoyable I’ve played since DAoC. However, I get extremely frustrated with all the things wrong with pvp/wvw which don’t get addressed. So much that is just called “good enough” and put on the back burner. So many things that need to be fixed which seem like they’d only take a few minutes each, yet aren’t priorities. Meanwhile, pve gets constant updates, huge content additions, lots of bug fixes, BLC items, etc.
I can tell quite clearly that the pvp devs are passionate about the game and want to make it really great, but the company as a whole really doesn’t care about the pvp, and that kitten es me off.

Well, that’s cute.
I first wanted to appreciate your message of the community sticking together, but since you’re telling me to value the opinion of the peasantry that is hotjoiners and not to actively try to get the developers stabbed I’m going to have to hate you now too. Because differencing opinions on the internet is unacceptable.
Judging from streams I had originally thought you were a good Ele, too. But since we disagree you suck, noob.

anyone that plays with me becomes the best so just accept it please and move on with the topic.
anyone that plays with me becomes the best so just accept it please and move on with the topic.
Bad troll attempt.
Also, I highly doubt sPvP ever evolves from its current state. The class imbalances are glaring, hot join is a rampant thief farm with a couple of mesmers in for spice, tPvP is a joke because lets face it; there are like 4 actual teams and the majority solo queue.
BTW, I’m still the best ele in these parts. Don’t get that twisted.

Well said Vain. Miss you mang.
As for you vanthian, lol. There is nothing wrong with being self confident. In order to be confident in anything competitive; sports, games, school, work, etc….. You need think you are one of the best, if not the best, when you have actually gotten to the point you can prove it and have something to show for it. Vain has done a lot for this community and is one of the best ele’s that played sPvP. So if you have a problem lol no one cares. Then there’s are those of course who say they are and haven’t even beaten a decent team and won consecutively and lie to themselves lol. But Vain isnt one of those people.
The ones that lie and think they are are only hurting themselves and won’t improve lol. Their False egos are preventing them from improving and yet they are still the ones at the bottom lol. This game makes it easier to proclaim being the best because there was no real rating and rank system. If there was, I bet all these trolls and a lot would be nowhere to be found and peoples egos would have a complete 360.

+1 to that whole post, love you vain; even though abandoned me and left me to venture a lone in Terra; which btw was a huge waste of time!
Anyways I whole heartedly agree to everything you said in that post.
Come on ts once in a while we need to talk!
…. blah blah blah.
You can be self confident without being a….cough… No need to say you are the best and try to be this holy light beacon for all to see. The people who are truly the best are the ones who sit there to themselves and just prove it and don’t’ gloat. Usually when you gloat it shows you don’t win often so you have to make the most of it on the rare case you can.
I don’t have a problem, I am merely pointing out the obvious that it is obnoxious to proclaim yourself the best out of a decent size body of people with zero to little to back it up. The only time it is okay to claim such a thing is when there is a ladder and you competed to be at the top and are.
To further the point, good ideas don’t need to be back by “I am the best so listen to me”. No, good ideas stand on their own and reflect back on the ones who have them.

Nice enough for you to think I said blah blah blah.
Anyway lol. First of all you seem so mad. You need to lighten up. Those who are good and are the best don’t even post on the forums to say they are. So idk why you are getting so uptight lol. If they post on the forums, that will hardly ever cross their minds about saying such a thing unless they are actually arrogant. Secondly vain never says such a thing, specially on the forums. Plus he said it to be taken as a joke or ina lightly manner lol. You are ranting on every thread ATM so I can tell you are mad at something and idk what. But vain is a player like you just said that can say it because he did have something to show for it. Lighten up man lol. It’s only a game. Maybe you will get there too one day and say you are the best.
@Vanthain- what do you care if he thinks he’s #1? it was a light hearted comment. maybe try and relax a little.
all you’re doing right now is offering yourself up as a prime example of what OP was directing his post at: blatant, mindless, negativity directed not only at the game but at your fellow players.
just look at your own posts for a minute and then read the OP again. then maybe read it again. maybe one more time after that if you went to public school.
ps i miss you even though i dont like you but i need you even though i dont want you..
Cutest little thing, ever.

No, he is commenting on people poking and trying to belittle others. Why don’t you reread your last comment.
Light heart"ed" or not, it has no place on this post as he tries to quantify his argument with it. It does nothing but deject from his point and post.
Also, stop assuming that everything I type is in regards to the OP. They are statements toward the obnoxious people who clearly think they are better than everyone with their belittling statements. I point out no one in particular just a general direction that you seem to think hits him on the head.
Lighten up man lol. It’s only a game. Maybe you will get there too one day and say you are the best.
I know it is only a game and I am not mad. I don’t want to be the best; I want what was promised from Anet and that is a decent sPvP system with balance. I am merely pointing things that most people over look because they choose too.

Vain for SOTG!!!!!
Good to see you pop in mate. Ping can’t be that bad in Korea, kitten I play in Australia.
I had the funniest thought of Vain as Uncle Drew putting his team back together.
“This game has and always will be about stomps”
“I get stomps”
QT Hman can be Wes.
Lol, it’s early here in oz and I should stop watching YouTube.

IMO I love how Helseth thinks he is the best player to touch this game, and there is still no way to determine skill in this game, it’s so funny.
Response to the OP; this is great. I feel the best chance this game has atm is time, and those that are patient enough to wait will get what they have been waiting for. More community building threads or ideas etc. would be great around here. Especially when custom arenas comes out, then we can start hosting our own private tournaments (if that was even a thought of the players here).
Xeph for example has 1 or 2 threads going for players looking for a team, and another for the SOTG questions Poll/Feedback. These are just examples but I feel like people are ready to jump the gun when it comes to bashing other players or the developers themselves.
(edited by EoNxBoNx.9213)
things were said
yet with a simple ranking system + ladder from the beginning, followed by a solo queue, this game would have held 80 % of the lost playerbase, even with those crap rewards /incentives given to the PvP population.
Hell, maybe the PvP population would have EVEN GROWN with those very basical features.
Altough i may agree with your point about the “rage” regarding this game, i cannot say it’s not without reason.
They said " A, B & C" and have given “half A”, while giving " A, B,C,D,E,F…..Z" to PvE.
And when, in a six months after SotG they say stuff like " we balance off from forums" or “still no leaderboards, still no solo queue, still no pug vs premade fix, still no WHATEVER”, people simply freak out and leave.
These things are capable to cut off even player’s toughest motivations to play.
This to avoid talking about OBVIOUS balance issue ( like eles being gods and ruining the meta) and OBVIOUSLY GAMEBREAKING ISSUES whose required months to be fixed ( svanir runes bug, mace bug, tournament chests on server switching, mesmer’s perma stealth, RTL not being affected by movement impairing effects if not immo, and so on)
There’s no real excuse, really.
If other games don’t appeal you, don’t believe it will be the same for other players: tons will move on and won’t come back, and don’t you dare to say it’s healthy for a PvP game.
I at least hope they will push a huge marketing move as soon as they get all those BASILAR features implemented ( and maybe a better balance), because there’s no reason why players should be attracted by this PvP failure, unless you’re a GW 2 combat engine ( because it’s the only thing really worthy) carebear.
Like you.
And like me : because i’m still here, after all, and i will still be for a long time, because i know it’s a B2P game, and i can come back anytime i want.
But most people don’t think like i do, and especially in MMO market, once they’re gone, they won’t come back most of the time.

Don’t forget eles autorevive tornado bug and immortal rangers pets, healing for all eternity (that haven’t been fixed yet).

If i had to make a full list, i don’t think i would have been able to write the whole stuff in a single post.
I would like to advocate for the test realm to be made public. It’s the only transparency that we need from Anet (we don’t need SoTGs or Devs posting in the forums). They don’t need to send invites to everyone to join the test realm, but it would be nice to have test realm patch notes during ongoing testing. That way, those that participate (real players) in the test realm can post their opinions on possible changes to classes, maps, etc.
No MMO had all their features active at the time of release and that’s ok as long as players are kept in the loop. I think a PTR would help ease a lot of the disgruntled feelings towards Anet.
Lighten up man lol. It’s only a game. Maybe you will get there too one day and say you are the best.

Well, to clarify things up a bit for you Vanthian… That last minor statement I said about being the “best” was a simple joke. It was directed at no one specifically, nor did I truly mean it to be serious.
To everyone else, I do hope you realize what your doing. Just getting away from the negative posts and TS3 gw2 bashing sessions will let you see some light at the end of the tunnel. Whether it be this thread or another forum altogether, do your best to turn conversations from negative to positive. If you truly want to stick around for the long haul, make a stronger community.
Btw, I’m still the best ele around these parts. Right, Vanthian?
Oh, and hello to all of you. I miss you all!!
Its good to hear from Vain again! Hopefully Korea goes well for you.
Anyways, I think have right to be angry about the fact the game wasn’t feature ready upon release, and continues to persist in a half-finished state 7 months in. I mean, I thought I was realistic about the timetable of when features are coming to the game, but I keep having to readjust them every patch because nothing comes. I still have fun playing this game, I just wish they might have delayed launch for a little bit more to squeeze out those necessary features and balance(or basic infrastructure work, which tied them up for a while).
On the flipside, if you were ignore the marketing schlock about how this game was going to be E-Sport ready(no MMO has ever achieved E-sport potential), you have to be a bit cynical even regarding the substantiality of the pvp features that would even be seen at launch. Historically, PvE for MMOs comes first with PvP coming a far dead second(GW1 was not an MMO in a traditional sense). PvP features often come many months even years to reach any point of actual worthiness for competitive play. MMOs differ from games like LoL, DOTA, SC2 in that they are multi-faceted experiences where things like content generation, workload/resources balancing among teams is immensely difficult task that most companies fail to do(Most MMOs either fail entirely or move to more profitable exploitative models like F2P).
The big problem right now with PvP is that its the least profitable sector of GW2 right now for Anet. They got caught with their pants down at release and have failed to come with at least a rudimentary monetary structure(paid tournies…lol) that would justify the investment when they see far more returns creating content grinds for the PvE hordes who would throw real money away like crazy to grind for virtual skins. Why push money into PvP to please a shrinking contingent when you can keep building on the better infrastructure already in place and make the game live to its first expansion. They’ve basically just tasked a small team to basically grind away at the necessary features of the game over months, probably putting crazy hours in so they can get their part of the game up to par so they can get more support to start pushing it. I feel sorry for them really, they never had a chance. :P
Despite the naysayers I do think GW2 will eventually succeed on the basis that the “core”, the gameplay, is absolutely amazing and 95 percent of games fail to reach such a lofty goal. Unfortunately, the rest of everything is just going to take some time.
come back and play vain I need peels :P
come back and play vain I need peels :P
Hman needs the spike setups, too.
I understand that communities are responsible in large part for the success or failure of their game, but this isn’t a case where the GW2 community slacked off. GW2 had massive community content being put up at Guru early on, and there were irc channels, subreddits, and a whole host of other esports related fan-based utilities created.
That they haven’t kept going isn’t their fault; they just haven’t been given a reason to believe that their efforts were worthwhile.
Lol it’s this vain noob again.
<3 Hi
This post was just weird. Truly, this game has the best PvP ever and that’s why it is a thriving SPVP community where 1000s of active players fight nightly and 3 round tournaments pop without waiting.
The only problem is the community and the naysayers and we need to do more. I’m not sure what more we need to do, maybe QT wants us to do some programming code for ladders, visible ranks, custom servers, spectator mode, etc. and then send our lines of code in a submission in a private message to the DEVs. Clearly, the game is in a great shape and we’re just whiny brats. 7 Months is not enough time to get features in to support the game mode. I don’t care that other games have them in during beta. THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVA!!
This post was a either a joke and I don’t get it, or you are delusional since you haven’t’ been playing the game and you’re missing it like a girl you dumped, forgetting that she was crazy and only remembering the great love making.
Either way, enjoy Korea.
(edited by felivear.1536)
Zone video spike ftw
Vain come back!!!!
We need drunk vain to turn the mists against each-other again… oh wait, that already happens…
Sincerly, The best ele round these parts :P
I too like to get emotional and vent and complain about how other people get emotional and vent and complain.
+1 for emotional complaining
We all miss you man! -But this isn’t the community you left. Pretty much the entire competitive scene (all the t1/t2 teams and players) quit with the launch of the Feb 26th patch. The community transformed overnight, WvW players began to migrate into sPvP just to try it out, many new names started flaming map chat without direction/corrections from higher level players.
The community has rely just been abandoned by its experienced players, it’s like watching a bunch of preschoolers running around un-supervised (lol). So most of the posts you see on the forums these days are not affiliated with the community that was established when you left. It’s a whole new world man.
Hope you’re doing well in Korea bro, hit up Psy for me! -Neglekt
Btw, I’m still the best ele around these parts. Right, Vanthian?
Even as a joke is does nothing but detract from your post and point. Better to leave those things out and actually have a discussion about what can fix the game unless you can turn the joke around to improve on your point, but sadly they would have to be negative talks wouldn’t they? I can see why you would assume light heart jokes would be needed to lift the spirits of the sPvP community but that will not get the game fixed. Nor will acting like everything is okay which some people want to do. Complaining about the system in place is the only way for them to see there is discontent and can spur them into changing it.
For those to come and start nagging about the use of the word “complain”…. Complaining is not inherently bad. Whining is another issues not to be confused with complaining. Complaining is bring up the problems of the current system then trying to expand on why they are bad and need to be fixed. If you care to take it a step further suggest a way to improve on these methods.
But then again, I guess this is Anet’s game and they tend to do the opposite of what is needed for the sPvP. Who knows, maybe if we all get in a line and start writing more post about how we all love sPvP in the current form they will change it. 50/50 shot at this point right? (<—-sarcasm on point and further pushes the point)
Are you really kittening someone out for making a joke? Spvp may be dying, but we aren’t at the funeral yet.
Neglekt pretty much said it all. You’d be just as frustrated if you were here.
That’s why I spend my days trolling the forums, trying to grab CC Eva’s attention (CC Eva, I love you (kisses and smooches)).
P.S Welcome back, to the forums at least.
