Qualification points are discussed in this post: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/structured-pvp-october-update/

Am I correct in understanding that teams that are equal in skill but 1 team plays twice as much, the team that plays more is likely to have more QPs? Or in other words, is time invested going to be a deciding factor in rankings?

I am read it and understand this correctly, me and the rest of us who have full time jobs can say goodbye to playing in tournaments(the big ones)?

If winning paid tourneys will give QPs, and these are used to apply for the larger tournies then anyone who plays more will get to qualify.

EG:
Team 1 plays 100 tournies wins 90 of them. They have 90% win rate.
Team 2 plays 1000 tournies win 100 of them. They have 10% win rate.

Players in team 2 will have more QPs?

I hope not.

quote: “QPs lead to rankings for larger tournaments, and allow you to measure yourself against other players

1- QPs lead to rankings : what rankings, need explantions, dont just throw this randomly

2- larger tournaments : same what are those tournaments ? some kind of tournament league or dunno ?

3- allow you to measure yourself against other players : what does that mean ? Team QPs = individual ranking too ?

To me it also sounds like :
Time spent = QPs = team ranking = individual ranking

I dont really like the idea but I guess its far from being set into stone.

Yep, team 2 will have 10 more points. But dont forget that 100 tournies with average 45 min per 1 tournament will mean
Team 1 plays 4 500 min = over 3 days of playtime
Team 2 plays 45 000 min = over 31 days of playtime

Thats a hudge difference, dont you think? There will always be a part of “more playing = more points” in any system. The difference is, how much more you need additional ?

In my point of view, QP will be fine as long as the PAID tournaments will be played by organized groups and later on a matchmaking system will be implemented. After that it will be even better.

You are right, I should not have assumed the ‘worst’ right away. On the other hand, when I read that post that is what I understand from it.

One thing they could do is give negative one point for every tournament where you are eliminated in the first round (not letting total drop below 0).

This would not solve the problem of two teams with equal skill with one having more points that played more, but it would keep terrible teams that play endlessly and occasionally win from having any points. You would have to finish first at least as often as you finish 5th-8th to stay positive (and would you really want such a team [that can’t meet that ratio] to be competing in the ‘larger’ tournaments?).

From what I read about the QPs, yes a team that plays more could potentially earn more QPs but not be as skilled as another team that does not play as much.

Example: Team A plays 5 Tourneys a day and wins 4. Team B plays 15 tourneys a day and wins 6. Over the course of a week Team B will have more QPs yet has a lower win to lose ratio. So Team A has more skill, thats obvious but due to time constraints appears to be a worse team because they have less QPs then Team B.

TLDR: If you have more time and cash you can farm more QPs and then a team who has more skill but less time/cash.

QPs helps a little with matchmaking (like arena rating)?
Less whining from fresh created teams , facing premades ?
Before the ranked ?

Or more motivation like the 1st reward to win ?

Of we will whine about something like this. It is logical that the better teams (aka Teams with best win to loss ratio) should be in the tournaments.

GW1 had a good ranking system. People spamming tournaments, even if they are bad is a not a good way to have leagues.

This ‘can’ be seen as a good thing for “casual pros” because the free tournaments will most likely not have as many of the top tier teams preventing newer players from learning, and allowing upper-tier but not great teams a chance to win a lot more 3rd rounds.

Just one way of looking at it in a positive light, it will spread out and even out the balance of the casual community in tPvP.
