Qualifying points
?? Leaderboards weren’t even mentioned in the most. This is about another currency..
Mesmer / Thief / Necromancer
The way i see it, are points needed for qualifying to some tournaments.
Example:
- Tournament A for teams with qualifying points = or > than 200, with x prize
- Tournament B for teams with qualifying points = or > than 400 with 2x prize
- …
It’s a good thing to start making different “leagues” between the sPvP teams, for future tournaments!
I don’t see them as a rating system at all. Nothing to do with Loose/Win Ratios. A lot of sports (real sports) use similar system to enter some tournaments!
Farm tournament tickets in tournaments to get in tournaments.
Then farm qualifying points in those tournaments to get in other tournaments again?
Why is arena net so scared about matchmaking and ELO?

It’s not that they’re scared of it, it’s that this game still has a problem with class stacking and certain classes will just out shine others and rise to the top. So, they obviously want to balance classes more, and then get a good system, and release it to us.
A good matchmaking/ELO system can work with their tournament style pvp. It will just be different. And imo harder, because as you go along the players are supposed to get better, once you get to the last map.

Dont you think ELO would give a better image of current balance than just people crying about being one shot on the forums?
If we had matchmaking and almost all of the top teams all have say 2 guardian and 1 ele bunker, along with 2 thiefs or 2 mesmers, it should be easier for Arenanet to see where the problems lie. And also, didnt they say balance is pretty good right now?
You might be right but it still doesnt really make sense. Maybe they are keeping ELO for when costum arenas are released.
QP’s are for monthly tournaments
you win monthly tournaments to get into the yearly tournament
Rewards for monthlys vs regular tournaments in GW1 was 80 reward points vs 3.3k reward points
If you won the monthly in GW1 you made about 3.3mil

This.
I like the idea of monthly/yearly tournaments. But if that is all paid is… a stepping stone to those, it has negatives, Can you get all 5 people on at the time the tournament is held, can they all stay of for X hours?
So instead of an ELO system where a team can rise and fall in the ranks at their time and pace, it becomes a scheduled ANet tourny option only? And paid has become another grind fest?
Why not QP and ELO?
With this system the paid tournaments won’t be running for many days.
QP yay, cause I don’t work 2 jobs and I can play for 24 hours straight 7 days a week. Is there any kind of consideration for us that do work 2 jobs and can’t play 24/7.
Sorry you cant be in a monthly tournament you didn’t get enough QP this month. That guy over there who’s eyes have popped out of his head, sure let him in.
I’ve played over all my characters for 159 hours since the launch of the game. My friend has played 396 hours on one of his toons since launch god knows how much over all. In theory if we both played tourneys only and won the same amount, he would have 2x (with that one toon) the QP I would get (on all my toons) and he would get into a monthly over me.
So is monthly tourneys only for those that live and breathe gw2? Or is there some consideration and fairness to those of us that would like to do monthlies and yearlies with our guild? Or should I just give up now and open a space for another member who doesn’t have a job?
I don’t believe that QP shows how good you are. If I have 1 QP, I’ve won 1 battle, if I can only play for 1 hour a day and win 100% of my battles thats 7 QP.
At the same time someone who can do 5 tourneys a day and wins all 5, he geats 35 by the end of the week. Is he better then me, probably but I can’t tell cause I’ve only played 7 games and by the time I can play 35 games he will have 175 QP (again only if he wins them all)

“Don’t worry guys measure your skill in paid tournaments” -ANet paraphrase
you mean see who grinded that the most too?
You people aren’t even worthy of joining paid tournaments of you talk like that, let alone paid tournaments
Actually Jon Peters brought up the other day that they plan on implementing the Glicko rating system he didn’t mention a time however he said there would be more pvp updates before the years end.
Has no one seem the tournament leader boards in the mists? It isn’t actually working yet, but it is being worked on. I’m pretty excited for it
Plus, I love how many of you call EVERY aspect of a game grinding. It humors me :P
