Queing for PvP in PvE
I wish I knew. It’s incredibly frustrating.
I would appreciate a response from Anet…
they have responded on a few occasions… here’s a summary for you
“We now send players to Heart of the Mists when you queue for a match to make everything uniform and make sure everyone got the match prompt as in other areas you could be stuck in a cinematic or stuck in a load screen.”
Here’s a link to the full ready up
It’s around 18:30/19:00 that they start discussing it…

Solution: Switching zones removes you from the queue. Also, you can’t queue while in an instance. That way you can still sit around in Lion’s Arch crafting or using the toilet.

Thanks Pixels. I appreciate the information. However, it seems to me this change is a bane couched as a boon. What a very unsatisfying response. Seriously… on the off chance we are in a load screen and miss the prompt, we are now forced into the mist where we can do literally nothing—for our own good. Was there an outcry of players being frustrated because they missed the prompted taking “60 seconds or more to load a zone” (on a pc from last century, apparently)?
I see more players frustrated because now they have to watch a pot boil. Further, I have missed more queues because I get side tracked while being alt tabbed than I ever did while running around pve. I cannot think of a single instance where I missed a prompt because of a load screen, or cinematic. I do not think my experience is unique, and implore Anet to redress this change.

Yeah, the old way was better, wish they could do a hybrid…

Using the toilet is the #1 reason for missing the match ready prompt for me…
Seriously though, I loved being able to jump into WvW and flip a camp while I was queued, but tbh the queues are short enough that I wouldn’t be able to do that now, so I think the new system is better, for now. If queue times get longer people are going to get antsy.
The real reason they did it was to stop 4v5s due to people going afk while queued. Now if you don’t click the ready button within 10" you get kicked off the queue. I get why that means they can’t risk having people get a ready prompt while on a loading screen or something, but an ideal long term solution can only be a ready prompt that appears even while you’re on a load screen. After all, error messages appear on load screens, so the UI has the ability to draw pop-ups over the loadscreen.
