Question about WTS tournaments
This is a slippery slope you’re on.
3-4 Ele teams are never going to make it to the WTS finals. It works against lower- to mid-tier teams, but that’s it.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Wait until these supposed ele nerfs before going to deep into this, since those would be before the next wts.

Abjured ran “only” 2 eles because Nos (Nox?) wants to play necro. If he didnt go to wts they would have replaced him with 3rd ele most likely. 3 ele is stronger then 2 ele in general, its just that most skilled teams atm have players that want to play other classes. OL was at a clear disadvantage by not running multiple eles. They just wanted to play what they are comfortable with.
PvP scene should get a good bump soon, players coming for HoT, leagues, f2p. Its possible new elite teams will form, and they can form with ele stacking in mind and you do see 3-4 ele teams play the finals.
In general it wouldnt hurt to have a safety rule in place, just in case the nerfs dont make it in time for next WTS or are too small to make any difference or some other class (less likely) has a OP build at the time of the WTS.
No stacking limit please…otherwise you will not see best composition potential.
It would be like watching a car race with bycicles.
best composition potential.

I disagree that 3 eles is a better team comp. Most top players will switch classes if they think it will make a better team comp. For example, Phantaram switching to Medi Guard in the burst meta. You can try asking Noscoc if you want, but I don’t think Abjured wants another ele.

I don’t think any kind of anti-class stacking mechanics will be needed for the WTS, simply because going beyond 2 Eles is not the kind of comp you want to have vs. comps with higher payoff when executed flawlessly. In the Go4Cups, yes, stacking classes (Eles) has been modified to limit that. It’s good as is.
You’re using some hella slippery slope logic here to assume what comp the Abjured would run if profession biases (Like Nos to Necro, or me to Engineer) didn’t exist. Celestial Ele on paper is rated higher than Soldier’s Engineer as well, so why not just declare 4 Celestial Ele to be the supreme comp? I’ll explain.
My opinion is that despite Ele being the best pick by itself, 4 Eles are much less flexible in group utility than one would think.
Having the best sustained healing and damage in one package certainly does scream OP, but at a point when Necros are consistently landing insane burn transfers and weakness stacks, Mesmers popping clutch portals, Engineers maximizing opportunities created by inflicting Moa on 3 people at a time, Guardians get every revive, or Warriors connect with might-stacked Rampage, an Ele’s safe & cushy sustained damage and healing become overshadowed.
It’s just a matter of being able to make those more difficult plays occur commonly, instead of just sustaining, that’s what makes GW2 PvP so challenging. Having two Eles, or one Ele and one Bunker Guardian, or a less popular equivalent, this is a what’s needed to be successful in capture point management. Somebody’s got to sustain.
In my opinion, the Eles seeping into the third and fourth picks in some team’s comps is a temporary side effect of Ele skills applying a ton of burning. I’m not sure anyone doubts that some toning down to Eles will be done.
So, I can’t go into much detail on things quite yet, but I just wanted to reassure you folks that we’re actively discussing a number of issues that are affecting balance in PvP – including, but not limited to elementalist sustain/damage.
^Yeah. No other class is stack-able to the third and fourth pick. And there isn’t anything necessarily wrong with having two of the same class on a team.
Double Warrior, Double Guardian, or Double Engineer, these all have a time and place, and isn’t necessarily indicative of bad balancing, sometimes just good synergy & counters.

Im just arguing for the sake of arguing. as i said in the first post this is not a serious question. I have no idea what Bjured want to run or how you would change things if Nos left. I will never play in the WTS finals, i barely even watch it, its rules are not my concern.
its not that theres something wrong with it, the few WTS/qualifers/ESL matches i watch here and there is a lot more then other games. Across all other games on the market i watched 0 matches/tournaments/streams/playthroughs, i just dont enjoy gaming streams in general.
i dont care what rules WTS has or who wins (well i cheer a bit for a team that runs a ranger or necro out of prinicple, so you guys had my support this time despite stacking eles).
I just like playing pvp and the current extreme OPness of the immortal god of healing, mobility and fire that is the ele makes the pvp just not enjoyable. There is so many of them, and whatever i throw at them they either just outheal/outsustain with 0 effort or lightning flash to safety and are back in like 5s with full health, all while easily burning and criting me to death. I almost exclusively solo join, and seriously 80% of matches follow this simple rule – who rolls more eles, wins. In this meta it takes a MASSIVE difference in skill for a team to overcome lets say 2 ele team with no eles of your own.
I quit out of frustration every day after 2-3 matches. So i write these pointless posts and threads here to complain out of principle or whatever. I dont actually think ill convince the devs when and how to fix the ele. Devs arent making their schedule based on what i say
I played since launch, have 6k+ ranked games, am decent player, i dont think i ever wrote any balance complaints outside of this d/d ele (i think maybe one couple months ago about somewhat similar shoutbow). There where OP specs in the past, i didnt care, i always had a chance to outplay them anyway and no spec ever was as broken as this one. PvP was always fun for me, but since the spec patch (ok maybe + few weeks for everyone to start running the proper ele build) it is not fun at all (because of ele that is, in general specialisations are awesome).
So if i mention you in my rants again, dont sweat it. What is left but to pointlessly complain

i would say no exact build stacking
that is boring
2 eles is fine … even 3
but only if they use different builds
and i would say staff cele ele is already a different build than d/d cele ele for example
it has a different weapon and one different traitline
but 2x the exact same build is not what i want to see
