Questions concerning Guardians in pvp.
Ironically, I think guardians aren’t actually the best at “bunkering”. I think engineers are better.
Yeah i have a engi too hence why i decided maybe dmg guard would be nice.
You shouldn’t hold a point alone on a bunker guard.
Guardian usually is a bunker/support spec; if you’re alone, you pretty much lose the support component and end up on bunkerish build with next to zero counterpresure, which leads to your enemies attacking you much more freely and works against your defensive capabilities.
As a Guardian, you want to stay where the teamfight happens. You can solo bunker a point for a while if needed, but some of your teammates are meant to go there if attacked in a reasonable timeframe (which doesn’t always happen, it might even be quite rare, if you queue solo).
If you want to hold a point alone, there are better options. Elementalist, engineer, warrior, necromancer and ranger, all of them, offer better builds than a bunker guardian for this job. Even a DPS guardian is probably far better than a bunker for side point holding.
Bunker Guardians work a lot better with a coordinated team. In a solo Q with random people, you will probably struggle.
I say just keep trying out new things until you find a profession / build that is fun to play and wins a lot

Alright noted thanks. Nobody gave their impressions on Dmg Guard so far though? am i better off playing something thats meant to do dmg or does it work. Keep in mind i mean work in a higher competitive PvP scenario.
A DPS guard deals tons of damage, but I don’t really know if it could really work on a “highly competitive” scenario. You can get quite high on SoloQ leaderboards, but maybe not the best option for an organized team (specially if the team doesn’t want to adapt to running one).
If you want to give it a try, I’m currently running a GS/SwFc 2(II)/1/6(I,X,XII)/1/4(II,IX) Triple Meditation build (all but Merciful Intervention) with Berserker Amulet and Pack Runes. Still deciding if I prefer “Defender’s Flame” over “Focused Mind” and messing with sigils (dat hydromancy nerf >.<).
Guardians are being replaced by bunker engis in high level team queue. The next meta will be bunker engi meta. Two decap bunker engi stay on a point can fight 2vs3 for a while and the other team can’t cap at all due to the amount of knock back/heal/blocks/invul.
I rather have a bunker knock back engi in my team than a bunker guardian now. If the enemy dps is great enough to kill a bunker engi, it’s easy enough for them to kill the guardian too. Beside that, engi has a lot of knockbacks, which buy time for them to wait for blocks/invul/heal to cooldown

The gardian is literally named after the function of “guarding” and yet everybody else can guard better than him. I really have no idea what role the devs think a guardian should play in PvP but it’s certainly not bunkering.
