This was the 4th match in the last hour where the entire team ragequit after one player didn’t join the match. Something SEVERE needs to be done about players leaving matches. I lose a ton of rating because you were to childish to stay and play the game? Great.

My suggestion: Remove dailies from tournaments (too many awful players are just joining to farm for titles + daily), add a MASSIVE hit to rating for leaving a match, and a 2+ hour lockout for ragequitting.

They should just allow everyone to drop without penalty if the game becomes imbalanced..

There is also an unfortunate problem I’ve been having consistently lately, and that is people that go Away from Keyboard (annoying censor won’t let me use the abbreviation) on purpose just to hurt the team. I wish there was a report option for that, but until that is implemented, I’m just reporting them for botting.

I don’t agree with this. If you want your team not to leave, then find people who don’t.

It is very difficult to leave a match, you have to completely log out of the game for the rest of the match. You cannot even play alts during the game, because it instantly portals you directly back to the tournament.

Unfortunately I do not have much of a better option. When 2 people on your team go inactive just so you’ll lose, it seems that it should be report worthy, no?

Are you serious? What if we are in a solo queue match? Can we magically “find people who don’t leave”

Well, why not teamqueue then?

Besides, statistically speaking, if you aren’t a leaver yourself, there’s always a better chance of the opposing team having a leaver and your team doesn’t.

The only thing really effing up Solo-q is that they queue together with premades and that the matchmaking is so ridiculous, that I get almost no points for winning, but I loose like 500 ranks from loosing.

“/resign”

Is a good idea, but seperating the ques and instituting leaver penalties is the solution to this particular problem.

In the interim it would be better for everyone to only que with full teams. I am a glutton for punishment, so I still soloque often. I guess I have pretty thick skin, because while it can be irritating to be continuously grouped with R1’s and leavers; the few times that you can win a 4v5 match you feel totally pimpnasty when you pull it off.

I think the current system is fine and I am sad it was confirmed to be changed. Matchmaking is always broken in every game, but Guild Wars 2 has done well to keep PvP exciting and challenging nearly every match.

You also don’t face the same team over and over. In addition, you don’t need a full group of 5 to win.

You clearly never played GW1. I mean A-Net had one of the best MMR’s that I’ve ever seen and they just threw it away. No wonder why ppl are frustrated when we go backwards instead of forward.

Actually I did play GW1. I did not like the rating system at all due to “smurfs” that would farm low end teams by playing on another account. Also the participation was quite low, and it became much worse with the removal of heroes in PvP.

Also mind here, I was playing bronze as a protection monk.

Then you should know it better. Smurfs are allrdy happening in GW2 with second accounts btw. Also the participation was very high, in HA and GvG either. Actually you always had instant Q-pops and for this it required 16 players not 10.
I’m wondering if you talk about guildwars or another game which has on mysterious circumstances the same name. Prolly this has to be the reason.

Could you guys just use your brains? Just once? No?

You can’t leave the match, only by closing the game and staying logged off for the whole time. So basically, you can’t play for that 10-15 mins. If they would add a 10 min penalty for leaving, ppl would just go akitten.. much better i guess. And we can’t report leechers.

Have you considered that it’s not always possible to get a team together to play. That’s WHY there’s a solo queue. The solution to solo queue being broken shouldn’t be to NEVER PLAY solo queue. It should be to FIX solo queue

… what is Chase talking about? anyone know?

No idea, all I know is that out of my 2000 games of starcraft, I’ve never had a game where it was 3v4 because one of my teammates left. When people joined a game they played the ENTIRE game. The only reason why someone would leave is when the entire team knows “yup we lost”. StarCraft didn’t even claim to be esports, it was a game that had good balance and gameplay and ladder system it BECAME esports.

Now I come to GW2 which claims its esports, and what do I see right off the bad? A rank 2 guy on my solo que team and we are facing a premade team, oh someone isn’t here for the game as well, terrible gameplay because we are down 1 guy and the other team is destroying us, oh and I just lost 4% on leaderboard even though the other team is top 5 leaderboard ranked players. Terrible ladder system, doesn’t go off points, it goes off of percentages.

A game well made like star craft becomes ESPORTS, and a game that claims its esports… Wanna know what game is held often in korea for thousands to hundred thousands for the winners? Sure aint GW2, its STARCRAFT, yes millions of people watch people play starcraft.

I play GW2 for the MMO factor, but got into PvP, but I can tell you something, GW2 aint nowhere near esports. Time they get someplace near Esports new MMO’s will be released like TESO and new generation systems will be released like PS4 and everyone will be playing those games and systems over GW2.

You can talk all the smack you want about TESO but fact is elder scrolls has twice and over the fanbase as arenanet, people aren’t going to watch esports gw2 if they too involved in teso or the elder scrolls VI or playing the new gen PS4 games, Fall season and winter season is coming, and that’s when the best games are released because its NBA 2k14, WWE14, etc.

Ragequitting is a huge problem atm and every MMO out there has some kind of quitting debuff. At the very least, a 30 minute debuff (2 hours is a bit excessive) so that even if you come up against a premade, you have some kind of incentive to stay and play the match through and maybe learn a thing or two. Obviously the hit to personal rating doesn’t deter people from quitting the match so there has to be another way to prevent this problem. There should also be rated and unrated matches so that people can practice tourneys without fear of losing rating when they’re testing builds, team comps, etc.

uberkingkong is right about SC2 BECOMING an esport. Blizzard lets their game do the talking and created an environment that fosters esports. Aside from the technical stuff like ladders and MMR, it was the players that created the esports from custom maps and a casual friendly system where people can play in unranked matches just for fun, eventually moving on to more competitive play.

The thing with games like RTS games like SC2 and to a lesser extent, DOTA2 and LOL is the pace. Those games can drag on for almost and hour whereas GW2 tourneys are short and fast paced. There’s no comparison to GW2 in those regards. If anything, GW2 can be compared to WoW’s arena and battleground system and what I see Anet doing with GW2 is trying to meld the two together, which to me, doesn’t seem like it’s working. One game type with one queue system which is always a rated match is detrimental to serious players because the casuals have no other way to learn and play the game as it was meant to be without affecting the competitive players. Hotjoins is a complete mess and doesn’t foster the skills necessary for competitve play. Why force a casual pvper to queue with serious players and have to go against a premade that will stomp them time and time again? “Find a team” is what some people are saying, but SC players don’t need a team and can play 1v1 competitively.

I’d love some dev attention on this, as it’s a pretty huge issue and will only become worse when the solo queue is split from premades.

They should just make a give up/concede match button and if all 5 members click it other team gets full bonus points and wins. At least this is needed.
