I’m not quite sure if anyone is experiencing this but this has been going on for over a week. Usually it occurs more in mid afternoon and slowly gets worse into the evening. So I figured I would put up a thread if anyone was experiencing the same problem.

Computer Specs

OS: Windows7 Home Premium 64 Bit

Cpu: Amd FX 8350 Eight Core Processor 4.00GHz

Gpu : Nvidia Geforce GTX 760
-Approx Total Memory 4038 mb

Memory : 12gb Ram

What I have tried doing so far to fix the problem.

- Fresh install of Os for new Gpu installation

- Fresh Install of gw2

- Repaired Gw2

- Unparked my cores

- Cleaned the registry

So far everything has been unsuccessful. I’m still experiencing random skill lag at the times specified above. If anyone has a solution to this I would greatly appreciate it. I’ve also tried other online games but gw2 is the only thing causing problems. I’m also having huge FPS drops by doing nothing but running around in heart of the mists. By simply running over the bridge in the mists I go from 110 fps to all the day down to 25-30 fps.

Is this game really that poorly optimized? Like there really shouldn’t be any situation where I should drop 80fps by simply running over a bridge….. /facepalm. Any helpful info and or solution would be nice.

happens to me but im sure its my internet coz they like to do some maintenance during morning and afternoon.

I’ve been having the same problem. The skill lag comes and goes repeatedly and its unbearable.

Yeah for a week or so I’ve been experiencing the same thing – skill delay of ~1s at times and it does seem to be worse in the evening (Boston area). I used the -diag utility and posted my results in the tech support forum but it’s unclear to me whether the packet loss it shows is normal or not (some routers are configured to ignore a percentage of ICMP requests over a particular time interval). If the packet loss it shows is the problem then it looks like it’s more likely to do with the network infrastructure my ISP uses than an Arena Net problem but ti’s really hard to say….

Finnaly someone with the same issues, I have lag too I even switched my keyboard in vain to see if that was the issue.

I sometimes get negative fps in Foefire. Like, I see frames that already passed.

It’s somewhat bothersome.

The pvp servers just seems to get really bad during evenings(“prime times”)..

I have a similar problem.

But this is pure lag nothing else, sometimes it happens it’s like 3 sec of pure lag spike.

Btw I’m using wtfast and still…

We read your post the first time, no need to re-post it. Asking other players if they are experiencing lag is a form of troubleshooting to determine if it is an end user connectivity problem or a problem with the game’s servers. After we determine it isn’t a problem with the end user’s connection, then we can use the dev’s post, instead of wasting their time with posts that say “My lag hurts, it’s killing me, fix plox.”

On topic, yes I’ve been having lag issues for the past week, especially during prime time, particularly 1-2 second skill lag and moments of unresponsiveness that last 5+ seconds.

I had the same problem over the past few days. I’m in EST. Too laggy at night I couldn’t play. The game server list even lags to load. I wasn’t sure at first if it was ISP or Anet but, seems like others are having the same issue…

Yeah, looking at the PVP server browser is a good indication – for me if it takes more than a half second to load the list then I know the game will be unplayable in the sense that I cannot be effective due to frequent skill lag and rubberbanding. I just exit the game at that point…

I’m using Comcast by the way – in the tech support forums I think there were people complaining from multiple ISPs but I’m not too sure if ISPs share routers along the way and therefore I do not think we can definitively say that this is an Arena Net problem or not.

I got home and logged in just to see what the lag was like – it wasn’t too bad. I went and ran the diag tool again and saw the same packet loss as before:

5 —- 25/ 25 =100% 24/ 25 = 96% ae12.edge1.NewYork2.level3.net [4.68.127.1]
16 —- 25/ 25 =100% 17/ 25 = 68% 64.25.32.26

The first one was definitely the same as when I ran the test when I was experiencing the lag – pretty sure the 2nd one as well but I don’t remember and I didn’t save it. So, I think the packet loss informatino is probably due to what I said before – those routers just ignore ICMP packets for performance/spam-prevention reasons and therefore it doesn’t mean anything.

I do notice though, the pings at some of the routers are lower than I remember them when I ran the test when the lag was bad – I’ll have to run the test again when it gets bad again (probably later tonight).

EDIT: After some research I’m pretty sure that is not the issue – was getting the same thing during a period where the game was OK – this is just the routers being configured to ignore ICMP packets.

same crap just happend again, both teams lagging really hard, porting around, have 2 sec delay on every skill etc.

Been lagging a bunch last two days or so. Tonight though I lost connection during match and couldn’t get back on.

Major lag and crashing a few min ago along with everyone in my match on Spirit Watch.

Yeah watching Ostricheggs stream – same thing going on for him and his team.

Major lag at this very moment. Was in a skyhammer soloq game, got disconnected, came back other team won 500 to 0 lol (seems they were all spared, everyone on my team disconnected bar one). Next game was in legacy, everyone on both teams had major lag.

At this very moment solo q (and possibly everything else) is unplayable so I’ll just wait for anet to hopefully fix it.

Capped a point due to lagging… the other player said I was “teleporting like crazy”… Not the kind of trick I’d like to use.

Kinda seems like the servers could need a restart more often or something..

They need more people with the dishonored debuff for their statistics.

I’m getting bad lag when i play late night/oceanic especially, more so after the server crash a few days ago. Is tonight’s server maintenance intended to fix this issue?

I’m having problems from EST as well – suggest you use the diag utility (gw2.exe -diag) and paste your pingpath results into the “lag” sticky in this forum. What ISP are you using?

as said before ping is fine, latency is fine as well

i found way to fix it though, you have to log out to character selection screen during match and log back, seemed to fix it…

yupp! same problem here. Started a bout 6-7 weeks ago, all fine before that ( im in EU). Now its unplayable most of the time. I can have lag 7-8 days in a row, and 1 day without …but most of the time its very laggy ! I strongly beleive its a Anet problem, and not our ISP provider! I will stop feeding Anet burgers!!!!

For the last few weeks I’ve been having recurring skill delay majority of the time I PvP, and it’s making playing the game intolerable. I’ve tried contacting my isp, running a latency tool, disabling background programs, and resetting my modem/router, and it’s not getting me anywhere. This brings me to believe that the issue is server side.

Some friends and I were planning on competing in the vVv king of the mists tourney but given my situation and other players on my team involving the skill delay there is a good chance we are not going to be competing next month for what would be our first tournament.

This has been happening to me since the last patch. I’m not getting lag anywhere else, except for randomly in game and I have almost never had any lag up until the last patch (played since beta).

Hes problem is not only with fps

But if you gonna be amd hater:
I’m using a i7 4770k clocked at 4.7ghz
A GTX 780ti
16gb ram
game on a separate ssd(windows on kitten aswell)
30/30 internet
Can play the game at over 150fps while streaming(oh yes i have a 144hz monitor incase you gonna kitten about fps doesn’t matter above 60 waah waah), might drop down to 60ish sometimes in the mist if it’s REALLY REALLY croweded

I also get random dumb lag in matches, especially when there is a lot of players playing a.k.a prime time. IT’S NOT related to MY hardware, i know several others that notice same lag during prime times. It might however not be anet either but probably is, also seems like it’s not all the maps/server shards(if there are several different once running the instances?). could be some server along the way to anet server too i guess but i doubt it?

So let me get this straight, the OP posts about FPS.. I see AMD system and know optimization is horrible for AMD and causes FPS drops because i run the same system..

I point out that fact.. and get jumped because im ignorant in mentioning the FPS drop could be from AMD?
