I’m really unsure which one to main, I like both, my warrior has better gear overall however ranger is also close to his gear.

I’m really unsure which one I should play if I focus on PvP & Roaming in WvW (I can’t zerg, like 20-30 fps max with everything on minimum, can’t even see the enemy it sucks)

Ranger is in a good spot for WvW right now, since July 23rd patch. The Piercing gives it an advantage over many AoE based classes. As for FPS, As you can stand further away from a players upto 1500 range, you may be able to notice a small increase in overall fps. If you roam in WvW, you can run Trapper Runes, and Trap utilities, which will give you constant Stealth everytime you drop any kind of class trap, even WvW Supply Traps, this will give you superior escape versus most situations when roaming, or zerging. With spvp, ranger suffers from poor defense/survival versus other classes, limited escape capabilities in spvp, they are squishy as power, moderate survival as condi/toughness, still weak versus condition enemies.

Warrior is more simply explained, definitely well known to be in a good place in WvW, great single target & aoe damage, in melee range, decent stability buffs, and decent might buffs. If lag is an issue, Roaming you should be fine, but if you ever plan to zerg, friend or foe, lag will be at its height in this situation. Decent roaming skills, but any enemy ganks will be an issue. Warrior is definetely much stronger then Ranger in sPVP at this time, and is among the top 3 most Overpowered classes in sPVP at this time.

Basically, If I was in your situation I would play Ranger in WvW, but Warrior in PVP.

Also what’s a decent warrior build for roaming/spvp? I’ve been running 2h GS/Rifle I have a hard time in sPvP due to having to defend inside the spots, in the new mode it’s alright, I love this build for roaming the most though.

its the best of both worlds acts like a Warroir but Build for duals and roaming.

Take Warrior, way too much developer profession bias in this game so there’s really no point in investing time in the Ranger. Warriors are desired in every gamemode, Rangers aren’t.

Actually if the op like to play range classes, ranger is much better. The meta warrior build right now is Hammer/GS with strength, defence and discipline. However, it drop very quickly due to the high damage right now, it is definitely not an easy build to play.

It isn’t? I’ve used it today, made like 7 sPvP, haven’t lost a single 1 on 1 even against mesmers, won like 2 or 3 2 v 1 and 1 time 1 v 3, not to mention that the other times if rampage is up it means i get at the very least 1 kill in 1 v 2 and 1 v 3.

This build is broken as kitten.

Hell, even in one of the sPvP where I made the 3 v 1 the enemy team started whispering me raging hard as kitten lmao

lol, what? GS/Hammer is probably not OP at all in high-level play. But in unranked/ranked, it is like one of the easiest faceroll builds. I would love to see my team consisting purely of these monsters.

As a long time ranger, I can tell you with do NOT pick a ranger. In its current state you will regret. I hate the ranger so much that even I want to quit the game and wait for a few months to see if anet fixed the bugs and buff them.

I’m having a ton of fun with my ranger, roaming in WvW and playing PvP. I feel that a lot of the whinging about ranger is L2P kind of stuff, though there definitely are some broken things about it. Pet permachill, for example.

I find it to be a fun, rewarding class. It’s not easy to win against good players, but imo that just makes it more fun! I’m playing a power build, LB + S/D or S/A depending on how I’m feeling like playing; warriors don’t stand a chance unless they manage to sneak up on me + rampage.

I’ll tell you what, play against Tarcis / Wakkey / Hman and give us your assessment on Longbow and Sword/Axe , I want videos of your matchups too for proof and then post it to these forums. Until then I’m thoroughly convinced you’re playing against bad players.

I dont think you would want to play warrior..

Warrior is sub optimal right now and ranger has more escape routes, so for roaming ranger.

Pet gets chilled, pet F2 ability stays with ‘chilled’ CD indefinitely, or until switching maps.
Maybe ~90% of the players I face are bad, that’s entirely possible.

For roaming i choose Ranger over Warrior. Better ranged damage and longbow invisibilty its really good to land other skills and a really good help to stomp. If you want more in face combat use the ranger trap build with trapper runes in WvWvW. In PvP i´ve seen really good trap rangers, they were not roaming but they were really good defending points.

Please don’t pick Ranger for PvP… You will be sorry as well your teammates.

Wariors are still good though not the best in 1 vs 1, but still do well. It all depends of course on what type of builds your opponents run. But you will have far more flexibility outside of just WvW roaming with anything other then ranger, hence, your 2nd choice, warrior, is the better one.
