All I can say is….12k Maul crits incoming….

I don’t think 15% damage boost will let it hit 12k. Highest I’ve hit is like 6k on a glass spec on a glass target.

I hit for 10k on squishies, 4k on bunkers. My pet does 6k on squishies. I’ll be doing 12k come Oct 15th.

Ranger is the weakest class but not because you can’t do anything with it, but because ‘good’ builds available to ranger are all gimmicky trash that get nerfed month after month. This class is extremely poorly thought and if in one year we have only seen two major builds born (bm/spirit) and nerfed to the ground, this class isn’t going anywhere. Anet refuses to truly sit down and fix the kitten class and instead abandon it and suggest everyone to use the Wrongbow cuz OMFG it has stealth now, must use!!!!

well… if you don’t know eura then i guess you dont do top PvP :/ so not sure how’d know anything that happens at top level..

Yea that’s how game should be not like 70-80 percent can play high level. That’s how warrior was pre patch now they are OP (now most that know proper roataions can play top tier warrior). This game just disappoints me now…

is not a question about weather of not if they can do it.. but rather, have they tried???

if a person mains rangers, how come only the 0.5% knows to keep it alive? the pet mechanic just doesn’t allow for people to develop real skill so when it comes to running actual builds, that obey logic its either too hard or not “viable”

And you don’t understand everyone had his own play style? I main ranger for a year and up till now I wasn’t even trying to use a pet because it didn’t work and I could do much more without using it. Now nerf after nerf I am forced to use it, and guess what. It doesn’t work. I don’t know how much micromanagement is required to controll pet succesfully.

It’s not the case we are lazy. It’s the case where you have to gain enormous amount of skill to use the mechanic which is not working otherwise. It’s not easy to play, hard to master mechanic like in other classes. It’s hard to play, harder to master.

No way. Yours always hits the moving target, uses its abilities without a long timeframe and dodges attacks and red circles? And that with only pressing F1 once?

F1 pet skills are not instant, takes a bit to activate, but if you time it works fine.

Dodge attacks and red circles? IF it did that people would be QQing the AI too OP lol. You can easily just swap pet or command it to return to avoid it taking damage.

All that just pressing F1 once? That would be pretty silly. There are 3 more profession skill keys for a reason. Would you expect just pressing F1 once on Ele to cycle through your attunments just right for you to combo?

Ranger Weakest class? No, I don’t think so.

I still have plently of success with a variety of BM builds (my friends and I may not be top x%, but we do ok – 9w/2l last night, and we had a shatter mes, a glass ele and me on a shout ranger) , and am getting some value out of a couple shout builds atm. Traps also seem to still be dangerous played well, and I’ve seen some signet builds doing ok too. Spirits still seem to be usefull, though I never like pure sprit much I do run a BM build that uses a couple without the mobility trait.

I know how F3 works, it’s just it doesn’t work well if you are in close combat (which I mainly do). Most of the time pet don’t come back straight to me, it just comes to “exact” range and wont move unless you move further away (there is a 0,5-1 sec lag in pet moving again to you)

He doesn’t do that alone though. He plays power as a teamfight class and not as a backpoint player. In 1v1 he will lose to a shaman spirit build provided it is played well.

Mad rangers whining after their fotm “I walk and press 1” build got nerfed a bit. You’re the reason why spvp is dead.

I havent played a ranger in spvp since like.. christmas.

But back then I could do very well with shortbow/sword build with p/t/v amulet, force on weapon, ogre runes, and if i recall correctly, survival and beast master traits.

I dont know enough about rangers to make an argument, but I remember having decent utilities with stunbreaks, quickness, roots, an elite with long stability, and lots of traits that cleanse conditions. Pet swapping a lot with ravens or maybe it was one of the other birds, i cant remember.

Edit: Oh and that heal over time was amazing with pvt gear… Very strong ability.

Anyway, I would say ranger is better than ele atm, maybe mesmers..

actually it always depends on the player and the role you want to fit in.

If you play Axe/Dagger Sword/Torch condi tanky ranger build, it’s not that bad. However, if you dare to go power with LB….oh kitten, better be prepared! You have to play amazingly well, when every single thief can close any gap spamming one key! Btw, as power in pvp, you don’t have damage.

whats bad for a ranger player, may be good for the game, in that things like getting mana flooded in mtg allows the possability for a disadvantaged player to take a game off of an advantaged player. It makes total sense you just aren’t thinking about the metagame hard enough.

ok, ranger is not the weakest class, but surely not the best… The thing with ranger is its mediocre-ness. Its decent at many things, but there’s always a class thats better. Warrior, thief and mesmer are all better at bursting, necro is better at condies, and guardian is better for support. This, makes ranger actually one of the more balanced classes. Ooh, and pet ai is the biggest kitten i’ve ever seen… Sure, good rangers can make pets work, but it surely isnt the best class mechanic. Sure, ranger has all that protection and regen, but guardian and ele can do this aswell.

Well I play a Shout ranger….

They are pretty easy and strong.

Hard to master.

Love the comments about limited builds. That’s prety much every class in the game.

Ranger is definitely the weakest class. Thief is second weakest.

The weakest classes are elementalist then mesmer in that order. Elementalist weakness goes beyong the condition meta. What happened is they got “shaved” repeatedly. The changes were all small independently but they added up to a pretty substantial nerf in total. Then you have the current condition meta and you have a class that is almost laughably weak against the current fotm rolling around. Mesmers are pretty much only really good at 1 v 1. Mesmers also another class that was “shaved” repeatedly with small nerfs that added up to mean quite a bit. Rangers are limited but they have a few builds that work. Only having a couple good builds is something almost every class faces. A-net failed miserably at providing the build diverisity for each class they promised.

This is why Rangers are despised so heavily in PvP.

The players whine about being weak when they are one of the strongest classes and will always remain one of the strongest classes.

There are great Rangers who have deal with the reputation that QQer’s create for them. These players know what all their pets do and can maximize their use with their builds. They know how other classes work and plan accordingly. They want more control of their pets because they actually have the skill to be able to handle the micro.

The whiners? Really really bad players who are already have the PvP Cadillac class and can’t even do anything with it.

Thing I like about my ranger is there is currently 3 different version of the one build, so if I want to be back point I have version for that if I want to roam I have version for that if I wanna be troll I pretend I’m a skilled thief and smash my face into the keyboard.

Weak players does not mean the same thing as weak classes.

Ranger simply is the class with the least build diversity. We have 1 viable build, spirits. 1 ok’ish build, trapper, and the rest is only useable when you are unnoticed in a group fight.

In pve rangers became top class after people found the builds and realised their roles. Not so much in tPvP (except spiritrs ofc)
