Well, all classes IMO need trait reworks, but Rangers are amongst the bottom of the food chain when it comes to tPvP play and tend not to have a lot of viable builds. so here are my suggestions on what some of the traits should be. Feel free to agree, disagree, flame me or offer up suggestions.

The idea here was mainly to boost Ranger burst damage output, allowing for the viability of more direct damage specs while making more viable certain specs that want to take advantage of pets. And just some general cleaning of traits and overall boosting of ones that aren’t used.

This leaves open many possibilities for new traits that can help benefit the ranger

Ranger:

*Marksmanship*

Combine Opening Strike and Alpha Strike (Adept)

_Precise Strike_: Opening strike always critical hits and grants an additional 5 stacks of vulnerability

_Predator’s Instict_: Apply a 2 second cripple and immobilize to foes you hit when they are 25% Health (10 second cooldown)

_Eagle Eye_: Increase longbow, shortbow and harpoon gun range. All arrow attacks pierce targets

_Beastmaster’s Might_: Activating a signet grants 5 stacks of might to you and your pet(15 seconds), signets recharge 20% faster (Adept Trait)

_Remorseless_: Inflict 1 stack of vulnerability per attack (lasts 4 seconds)

*Skirmishing*

_Furious Grip_: Gain 3 stacks of might and fury when swapping weapons in combat (5 seconds)

Combine Pet’s Prowess and Agility training (Adept)

_Trapper’s Defense_: Create a spike trap on dodge

_Honed Axes_: You do 10% more damage when wielding an axe in your main hand.
Axes bounce through an additional target and inflict 10% more damage to secondary
targets (meaning it deals more damage to targets whom the axe bounces to).

_Quick draw_: Shortbow and longbow skills recharge 20% faster and do 10% more damage

Combine Trap Potency and Trapper’s Expertise (Grandmaster)

*Wilderness Survival*

_Healer’s Celerity_: Grant protection, regeneration and swiftness to you and your ally when you revive someone. Increase revive speed by 20%.

_Vigorous Renewal_: Gain vigor and swiftness when using a Heal Skill

Combine Expertise Training and Malicious Training from Marksmanship (Wilderness Survival, Adept Trait)

_Wilderness Knowledge_: Survival skills recharge 20% faster and grant 1 second of stealth

_Hide in Plain Sight_: Applies 2 seconds of stealth when you are dazed, knocked down, launched, pushed back or stunned. This effect cannot trigger more than once every 30 seconds

_Martial Mastery_: Sword, greatsword and spear skills recharge 20% faster and are 10% stronger

*Nature Magic*

_Bountiful Hunter_: You and your pet deal 2% more damage per boon

_Circle of Life_: Create a healing spring when your health reaches 25%

Combine Fortifying Bond with Concentration Training (Master minor trait)

_Spirits Unbound_: Spirits can move and follow you. Spirits have 25% more health.

_Nature’s Voice_: Shouts apply Regeneration and Swiftness (10 seconds) to allies and remove a condition.

*Beastmastery*

_Instinctual Bond_: Your pet gains 5 seconds of quickness when you are at 25% health

Loud Whistle combined with Speed Training and Commanding Voice: Pet swapping and pet skills recharge 20% faster (Master minor trait), (this also includes F2)

_Mighty Swap_: Pets gain 5 stacks of might (10s) when they are activated

_Stability Training_: I’m not sure what but it needs to changed

_Zephyr’s Speed_: You and your pet gain 5 seconds of quickness when you swap pets

Natural Healing combined with Compassion Training (Grandmaster)

Marksmanship needs a complete overhaul in traits simply because power/crit specs aren’tr viable in spvp for the ranger.

The problem is the pet is 30-45% of their damage and specing for power/crit still leaves the ranger crippled since the pet doesn’t receive any buffs. Not to mention most of the rangers weapon skills favor condition specs with the longbow being an exception but sadly the longbow is trash. The greatsword could work if the auto attack didn’t have such poor dmg or if maul’s bleed was replaced with weakness or something.

Unlike going for power/crit..condi does better overall damage for the ranger and so we are limited to two builds that aren’t trash. Even trap ranger atm can’t even compare to some other class specs and of course beastmaster specs just received a huge stealth nerf.

It’s nice that your suggesting trait changes but in reality the devs will never listen to common folk like us and soon a dev will just tell you to move this to the ranger sub forum.

the main thing i really wanted for my ranger is have my greatsword do damage. like, proper damage. it’s got all those cool utility skills, but at the end of the day, it’s a weapon you use to stay alive while waiting for your pet to kill stuff for you.

in other words, i wish that when i used my greatsword, i wasn’t thinking “this is fun, but i could be performing so much better”.

and is it just me, or is maul kind of out of place? it’s a skill that deals a bunch of bleeding… on a weapon that seems much more suited to power.

in ranger forum is pure chaos atm, no dev look there.
one dev have post a few weeks ago and flame was start kitten this topic
rest of topics are most qq or even much different topics about different ideas…
to much informations in different topics

for this topic,
some rly nice ideas, but for a working dps ranger they need more to do then just give sigil activation more might and such things.
if i whant try to play a dmg ranger on condi way or dps way, it should be same strong like ele or engin, but that need rly much work for anet to bring ranger damge builds to this level. this whould need huge skill and trait reworks in my mind.
also a big problem is that they think trapper ranger is still viable.
yes it is, but its much more weak on survive and dmg then the other condi builds out here. oh and dont forget much more bad in teamfights like each ranger build atm :/

at this 2 ideas i dont agree:

combine sounds good, but i think the trapper traits are generaly in wrong traitline.
what maybe whould be good, like you said combine them, but its should stay mastertrait, because its in the crit trait line -.-
when i have to go 30 crit only because trapper trait on condi build is just sad,
atm i have do a trapper 20/20/30/0/0 just because spotter now is better and i have more condi duration, the last grandmaster trapper trait is not so important,
so i dont whould like to have the combine in grandmaster :P

this sounds rly good, but whould be rly op if there is no huge cooldown
~30sec or something on this trait then, because if no cooldown i whould take this with my beastmaster and then it whould be all time spike trapps^^
