Rangers underwater.
It’s not a huge deal since it just affects one sPvP map.
However…it’s a head-scratcher why they haven’t fixed it yet.
Everybody knows about it and nobody is even trying to defend it as balanced…so eventually they should get to it.
Unfortunately…when they leave obvious stuff like this untouched…it makes it easier for the masses to think Anet is out of touch with the game in general.
It -would- be balanced if there were an underwater “Finish Them!” But until that gets implemented there’s no way it can even be considered balanced, I should know, I play a ranger lol.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
It would be balanced also if it wanst bugged and pet didnt continue to heal even after interrupted OR killed.
Underwater combat in general seems to be extremely imbalanced, nearly every class has something that would be considered broken on land.
- Rangers Pet-rez
- Thiefes literally 95% evade uptime (Shadow Assault)
- Elementalists AoE damage/pull (Whirlpool)
- Mesmers extreme confusion (Illusionary Whaler)
- Warriors homing 100Blades (Tsunami Slash)

Ranger is imba when actually down in water because it takes “3” people to actually kill it when the pet start reving.
Thief is WAY TOO IMBA underwater since once he capture the point underwater, you can NEVER drive him away NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU SEND. A well traited thief will have their evade on for like 99% of the time, making it
ABSOLUTELY INVINCIBLE.
Mesmer is fine since many classes can demolish all the illusions pretty fast underwater.
However mesmer can easily stack massive bleeds and confusion underwater, so other than fighting the broken classes I mentioned above, mesmer can easily cheese away all the other less broken classes.
Warrior homing 100b is fine too because despite the damage, many classes can actually hard-counter him, namely the immortal thief underwater. A warrior cannot kill a downed ranger either even with his underwater spear.
Elementalist? They are ok in fact.
I never have a problem fighting an ele underwater at all.

Whirlpool? Really? That thing that barely kills anyone in in the full (10s?) duration. The damage is low, easy to avoid, melee range and you lose your weapon and utility skills. Since the damage nerf (by 33%) it’s one of those high risk – low reward skills.
Until that, I’ll play GW2.
people still go underwater?man I don’t touch the water from 5 months, and so should you

I must have missed that damage nerf but yes it feels way less strong when I checked just now.

They are “fine” for Underwater skills.
But still that amount of Confusion or a homing 100b are broken by “on land” standards.
