Can someone tell me why as a rank 8/9/10 player I’m forced to go up against rank 50+ players? How am I supposed to learn how to play when I am constantly stomped on by players I have no business going against.
Were you in a tournament or hotjoins?
Because that level 8 is a Korean.
After playing quite a lot of soloQ toruneys i`m pretty confident in saying that:
In this matchmaking it is more important who queues at the same point in time than what “matchmaking ranking” you actually have. People will get grouped up even if their matchmaking is ages apart from each other. I`ve regularly had games where i am somewhere above 500 in the top 1000 and get paired up with people around rank 10 who are nowhere near my ranking (try friending the guys and then checking their personal rating) .
EDIT: I DO NOT KNOW WHY THE BLOODY FORUM SWALLOWS HALF MY POST BUT ITS NOT THERE! INSTEAD ONE PART OF MY POST IS REPEATED 3 TIMES FOR NO REASON. ITS KINDA FUNNY THAT ANET ISNT EVEN ABLE TO GET THEIR FORUMS TO WORK CORRECTLY.
Sooooo.. i suggest queueing up around times when there`s a lot of people playing (like weekend afternoons). It definitely increases your chance to get matched against/with people closer to your personal rating.

It is hard to get matched with people your rank when hardly anyone plays PvP in this game.
You are better off trying another game that actually has enjoyable PvP.

From my experience(1000+ tourney games) friday evening/weekend afternoon is the worst time to solo queue. like you said, most people play at this time but this means that because of organication issues also most premades play during this time. especially friday evening is a nightmare. usually about 80% of the games are against premade teams.
the matchmaking system is completely broken. rank <5 against rank >50, solo queuers against premades, every second game you have a leaver or someone afk.

I very much agree with you there and i already pointed out the issue with premades. However i personally found my winrate vs premades quite decent as long as i could rng a team which is on the same level as me.
Honestly seperating soloq and teams + punishing leavers wont make any real difference atm as long as matchmaking is entirely random and ladder rating has no real influence on matchmaking whatsoever
On a sidenote i`d also like to point out again that leaving the round DOES NOT PREVENT RANK LOSS in the long run. It only prevents you from rank loss as long as you dont finish another round but as soon as you do you`re screwed anyway.
So personally i can`t understand why people leave tbh.

Um maybe its just me but in tpvp rank should not matter in matchmaking. Your position on the leaderboard would.
The rank 8 person could be really good and ranked high, or for example where I see lots of rank 40+ warriors really low.

As i have already pointed out (which you would have noticed if you bloody kitten would actually read kitten)
you can friend the guys after the game and see their perosnal rating and i have done this several times and i can ASSURE you matchmaking is a joke and not working.
It does definitely NOT value putting people with the same leaderboard ranking in the same team over just putting random people together and get the bloody game started.
Now pleaaase stfu about lololol leaderboard ranking =/= glory grind ranking lolololol maybe eez just soo guuud

Maybe it’s because low ranks usually don’t go pvp much…you know…they’re low ranks, so you’re obviously going to face those ppl who live in pvp rather that random ones going once in a while..
