Rank Requirement for Tpvp?
I think if they were to implement something like this, do it by splitting queues. Make one queue for tournaments that doesn’t affect rank at all, and have that the same as what we have now (teams, solo, and any rank will all be together, matched together on some rating), then have “ranked” solo/duo and team queues that will be reflected on a leaderboard, with a level requirement of some sort (15ish imo).
The problem with saying NO to anyone of a low rank, is frankly hotjoins suck for a lot of people. You aren’t ever actually going to learn how to tPvP, unless you actually go ahead and tPvP for a while; hotjoins give you a terrible perspective of PvP.
^
The bigger issue is that hot join (8v8 as 5v5 is nowhere to be found) does not facilitate the learning of the game type, conquest, at all. Which means theres no place to cut your teeth as a beginner player in PvP.
Right now theres nothing, you literally can only start off by queuing into a ranked game against veterans and get smashed if you want to learn. Even this in itself is not a great environment to learn.
This issue for an already crippled player base is a serious problem.
Actually i would say hotjoin aka custom arenas teach ppl how NOT to play in tpvp…they’re supposed to be a “training area” but it’s all about showing ppl bad playing…and then they go tourney and they get facerolled…. It’s like trying to show someone how to drive a car with a freakin’ boat…for sure they’re going to die vs a tree at the first corner lol

Are you implying Grand Theft Auto is not a valid driving simulator?
I think there should be a level requirement of 5 to join tournaments.
5 is low enough to where it’s very in reach for everyone, yet high enough to let some players at least get the hang of things. A lot of players have trouble moving around and landing any of their skills when they first start.
Heres my suggestion…get rid of hotjoin…if people want slaughterfests or duels etc ( even though duels should be doable in hotm ) let em set their own server up….normal hot joins kitten em off….have non ranked solo/duo and non ranked team queue…then likewise ranked solo/duo and ranked team etc.
…get rid of hotjoin..
Or introduce more gamemodes and use ppl in there , as test subjects :P
A pile of formats at the HJ Ncp , without spliting the playerbase :P
Don’t get rid of hotjoins, turn hotjoins into mindless fun. Things that are purely for kittens-n-giggles, and then give people non-ranked/ranked queues for tournaments. That way new players can learn on tournaments, and we can throw in stuff like TDM or King of the Hill for funsies for when people get bored of the “serious” game mode.

If you’re russian gta definately is a good driving simulator xD
Do you want an easy solution? Don’t give glory\honor in hotjoin (Arenas or however you want to call them) give honor points to the winner team at the end of the match in tpvp only….so ppl are forced to l2p if they want their cookies…less so called “pro” r60 spamming grenades like idiots all day at hotzerg mid…
You are thinking about rank in the wrong way, honestly. Rank is not an indication of skill at all, it is only an indication of how much glory someone has gained over time. Moreover, the skill of the player at any rank is not an indication of time spent playing the game, but the quality of the time spent playing the game and paying attention/improvement. The lower the quality of your play time, the more it’s going to show in a tournament setting.
I would like to see some kind of an elo system implemented that influences what kind of opponents you get in queue. Rank in and of itself doesn’t mean anything at all.

I do agree that rank does not show skill but only when it’s higher up, I’ve seen rank 20s taking down rank 30-40s with relative ease.
I do however feel that the players below rank 10 are rather lacking in the basic knowledge of PvP in general, and I’m talking about the very basics of the game such as learning about creating a viable build,(I have seen alot of players running builds that just don’t work in PvP like 5 signet warriors etc.) you don’t have to play with meta but the build itself has to actually be able to help the team. Also simple things like fighting on a point and not everyone trying to chase someone down when they should be have at least one guy capping. Also going mention this again: Not jumping in a 3v1 because the chances of you winning that is incredibly low.(not talking about bunkers trying to hold off 3 guys but some random lone guy deciding to assault a point)
The small, simple things that can make a big difference in a PvP match should be learnt before attempting to actually join tournies.

You are sadly misguided if you think you can just roll in to tournaments at rank 1 and be used to the speed of combat, understand the intircacies of the various maps, the roles of different classes/builds and various other things as somebody that has a lot more hours invested. We are not talking about raw skill to play the game here. We are talking about things you only learn from experience. There is a tpvp learning curve that has absolutely zero to do with your twitch gaming skills. You are totally underselling the experience factor. I know it myself I was way better at “understanding” tpvp at rank 20 then 1. Its silly to think it could be otherwise. Sure there are terrible people with rank some people are just bad at games whether they are rank 1 or 40. They never learn or evolve as players or get noticeably better. Those people can beat beaten by a rank 5 with half a brain yes but that does not prove anything.

actually,
all hotjoin servers numbered 100 and above are 5 player teams.
all hotjoin servers between 1-99 are 8 player teams.
only custom matches are 10 player or 2/3 player.

You kittens don’t even know what the prefix “meta” means.
Absolutely 100% agree with op
Hotjoin is great training for tpvp imo.. If u can survive a hotjoin zerg, then you’ll prob find tpvp rather easy to survive
New players please play some hotjoin to learn the mechanics of the game, learn how to survive, learn what the secondary mechanics are… Just learn the game! Then come and play tpvp and you’ll find you’ll pick it up easier
I suggest r10 as min entry
