First I would like to show my opinion about pvp ranks . Their current state is quite good but we need much more lvls , sry but lvl80 is quite easy to obtain if somebody plays pvp a lot . That`s why I think we need leveling like on www , every level is 20k rank points but we can level for few hundreds or even thousands . Every 10 ranks (90,100 etc) we will recieve some bonus chest(don`t know what it could be) or even not just some feeling of progression .

Next thing ,precursors . I think we should get ONE ACCOUNT-BOUND precursor for every 80lvls on pvp or 800(maybe 1000) on www . It would be huge advantage for people who plays pvp,spvp or whatever you call player vs player . Right now farming for pre(legendary) on www and pvp is suicide it would take few years or even more to get it . And in this way everyone can get their pre whithout luck but just skill .

Next thing I think it would be cool is rank show . When we are not in pvp zone (www or arenas) we should target somebody and see around his characters picture (in 4 corners ) pve lvl, pvp lvl , www lvl and maybe fract lvl to fill this circle (square whatever ). In this way it would be great possibility to show off and check is this player more pvp fan ,www or fract maniac . This option shouldn`t work in arenas there is enough toxic environment (PS exp players can still recognise low level players but nevermind) and www enemies . But I know some players will say that noooo it would be horrible for new comers etc , I think it would be something great for veterans of some gametype and people with high ranks will only recieve respect from others .

As I said some people may dont like visible ranks but come on if you suck people will kick you from pve and hate you in pvp anyway but in this way it would be great advantage to show off , problem with newcomers is that they cant read . Really Anet should create living story called reading with braham or something like that . You create lfg “p1/p3 only zerker warriors” and what ?! you get eles , thiefs , engis and they are shocked that party kicked them .

Okay so, things you got wrong:
You can level beyond 80 in pvp and acquire bonus chests every time you do so. Similar to pve leveling system, except that you get a chest and not a skillpoint.
WvW farming is actually in a decent spot. NOW don’t hate it on me, because I’m talking from SFR position(#1 WvW server), but we get awesome EotM farms(which should be awesome on all servers imho) and awesome drops in regular WvW too. I can totally feel that it may not be the case on other servers however :P

Besides that I largely agree with everything, showing off your AP, PvE/WvW/PvP Level/Rank sounds like a great idea to me for as long as you include an option to disable it being shown. Accountbound precursor rewards are great too, but that won’t happen – it’s simply too late after what we have right now. Sure if GW2 would suddenly relaunch or have a complete legendary wipe, it would be great. But right now it is just not implementable.

So you would like a guaranteed precursor drop for PvP and WvW, and just how do justify that, compared to no guaranteed drop in PvE?

How exactly does this show skill, all I see is that you can show how you are completely dedicated to grinding “levels” to get your guaranteed random precursor which might not even be one you want in the first place.

Other than that guaranteed drops are not really a viable solution in a heavily RNG defined world, though there might be a reason to come up with some solution which relies a bit more on skill, since the original statement of Legendaries was something indicating that you had to show that you really know the game world, while this is true for pretty much every ingredient, other than the actual precursor, the precursor is so rare in drop rate and almost impossible to obtain otherwise with the current state of the economy, that something should be done.

switch where you can hide your rank is good idea but i think all or nothing so you can show all ranks (pvp www) or none . And precursors with ranks is good idea , 80 lvls on pvp is ~2 months of playing arenas so you can farm whole legendary in pve doing dungs etc. and it would be acc pre so you will take only needed one because you cant sell it .

Anyone who reaches 80 would have been able to farm at least two legendaries in PvE during the same time. It’s ridiculous to suggest that a mere precursor is too much to ask. Crazy, crazy.

And yes please! +1 for ranks above 80. Anything to show greater progression.

Bottom line question. How do you differentiate a person who reached r80 yesterday vs someone who reached it 1 year ago? In other words, what visual identification separates a long time PvP’er vs a new one? In PvE we have AP’s. In PvP…what?

The only thing I can think of right now is may be laurels. I have tons of them (figuratively speaking of course). Since PvP’ers never spend their laurels, this would be a “cheat” way to find out who is a long time PvP’er and who isn’t.

How about a chance for one then. There is no reason time spent in pve should rewards you so much more then it does for time spent in pvp. You people and your knee jerk defense of all things pve slay me. The rewards for spvp in this game are complete trash and undefensible by any other reason then I guess A-net makes more money from pve.

Actually I PvE and PvP and WvW, and not even once in any of those modes have I experienced a precursor drop, and this is with more than 3000 hours logged.

Precursors are hard to get regardless of mode, I agree there should be a chance to get one, I am just not sure how it could be made better in a heavily RNG reliant system.

As far as I can see from various posts, the rates are actually continuously dropping, more and more exotics and rares of new types have been introduced and added to an already extremely large pool of loot, effectively decreasing that ONE chance for a precursor.

Let me give it as an easy to understand example…

You have a bowl of fruit with 1 apple, 25 oranges and 74 bananas, everyone wants the apple, so what do we do, we add another 25 oranges and another 25 bananas:

Effectively lowering the chance of getting the apple from 1 in 100 to 1 in 150.

No wonder the precursor price keeps rising and people rage more and more.

EDIT:
That said, you now get Champ bags for sPvP, and they have a chance for a precursor drop, so effectively you can now get a precursor from sPvP alone if you are lucky enough.

Well this means that per bag you have the same chance as per bag in PvE/WvW, still no justification of your suggestion for guaranteed drop after a certain amount of ranking, you will just get every nubblet grinding rank for guaranteed drops, effectively ruining the PvP game for those who like competitive play.
