Ranks 1-20
I agree wit dis nubz messagez. Anetplzfix.
So you have to play Hotjoin until rank 20?
I would never survive this.
not rly – but they can match rank 1-20 ONLY with rank 1-20 and dont give any ranking, only MMR
edit: oh and i would not only check rank i would check played tournaments – so maby 50 tournaments played in starter pool and than can go to real tournaments
cause we have rank 40-50 ppl never played a tournament and suck hard and we have rank 20 players played only tournaments and know how to play

And what about the people who play with a smurf account? Beating the s**t out of starters until they are rank 20? Thats fun.
The tournament restriction has the same problem.
Futhermore the community is small so no starter wants to wait 30 mins. He rather stopps playing PvP I guess.
My suggestion would be to replace Hotjoin with a non ranked tournament system with hidden matchmaking where you can meet the requirements to join ranked games much quicker.
Id say in a tournament style people would try harder to win than in Hotjoin right now.
when they wanna play on a second account than yes they have to go the way again – simple
we said it like a thousand times..Anet disagrees.Move on
Rank means very little other than time spent. Sure, a rank 20 has a better feel for the game and maps, but that doesn’t mean they play well or hold points, aim for objectives, etc. Granted, a new to the game, rank 1, isn’t going to do much in a tournament. Sometimes, they aren’t even aware hotjoin games exist and this needs to be rectified.
…a rank 20 has a better feel for the game and maps…
Right. A restriction for players under rank 5 or 10 would be enough, huh.
Sufficient time to get to know the maps and basic mechanics.
Rank 20 is too much, Rank 10 is enough IMO.
You can’t expect someone to rank all the way to 20 in hotjoin (some people have jobs/family you know :P), it won’t help them learn the finer aspects of ranked PvP like positioning, strategies, etc which are only available in a more coordinated/stable environment.
The main purpose of the system should be to stop new players from accidentally joining ranked when they have only just started PvP.
And when there are only 4 players with a rank greater than 20 in the queue waiting to play SoloQ? Then the higher ranks just do not play for an hour or so?

Then the system has to make an exception, duh.
Something like rank 10 would be enough. At least they know how to push buttons and cap points By then.

Duh?
There will be exceptions every match. Which is what is happening right now.
All the qq about matchmaking in the first few matches after the reset is puzzling me. We all knew the previous ratings were inaccurate, and we lobbied for a reset even though we knew that would mean 5-10 somewhat random matches until things settled. Did we change our minds so quickly?
I agree that new players should be better directed. Some people are wandering into arenas not knowing what they are. The solution to that is to better communicate what they are, not ban new players.
Disagree; Pvp Population close to zero, Soloque is hotjoin+ and if you want a pro team play tq with your team.
