Fear The Crazy [Huns]
(edited by Gandarel.5091)
The whole community, just like me, had been waiting for ratings for long. When it first arrived, some were happy, some expected more (titles, rewards, observer mode and so on).
But now we got to the point where it is impossible to find a team for tPvP, even in Desolation, EU’s PvP server. Everyone claims not to care about his/her rating, but still too afraid to risk it, and never teams up with players not even if his core team is offline.
Since we only have rated tournaments, people keep disappearing into the catacombs of hotjoin. It takes more than 1 hour to make a pug team.
Another reason for this can be that you can look for an r40+ team, but nothing ensures they are good, since they can just come in straight from PvE and farm it in hotjoin, so players are afraid to group up with strangers. Ofc, nothing ensures that they are good even without hotjoin, but would be ways more relyable.
We seriously need an unrated tournament.
On the other hand, hotjoin. Conquest is the only gamemode where you can grind rank and still won’t learn anything. You won’t learn tactics, opponent classes’ mechanics and not even how to survive if you are just keep running from one circle to another, yet it is the most effective way of gaining PvP rank. Tournaments, where you must improve yourself to be good, could be a solution.
Hotjoin takes no skill, and makes PvP rank worth nothing.
Or the Heroes’ Ascent system for tournaments (or just bring back HA ), where you get your reward based on consecutive wins, therefore high rank=many consecutive wins=a good player. And not just time spent in hotjoin.

And then people will complain about being incapable to join a team because their HA rank isn’t high enough. I’m all honesty HA was a terrible system that excluded new players from the format. What GW2 needs is a solo queue ranking and the capability for downward progression. Once those are implemented there needs to be a way to see the player’s rank in game.
hotjoin cancer can’t be removed from game because now they decided to make money from it

i dont think that rating/hotjoin ruined pvp i think anet ruined the game themselves.

I beg to differ. Hotjoin requires a lot of skill since you do a lot of 1v1, learn a lot about your opponents and it’s always unpredictable. In fact, tPvP is where you can ride on the coattails of your team. I would much rather fight on the side of a person forged in the fire of hotjoin rather than someone who thought they were awesome because their teammates covered up their weaknesses.
Hotjoin is the end game of PvP in gw2.
This is why seasonal resets, an incentive to actually queue and rewards attached to rating are important. If you had to be top 500 to get a title at the end of a season, people would not be afraid of risking their 90 percentile rating.
Listen guys this is already been fixed just not implemented yet. there is solo rating and new ranks along with proper group que ranks. I do agree though the player base has gotten so bad since ranks came out. When the changes are implemented though it should fix all of these problems and there will most likely be a rankings reset at this time.

GG WP (Well put, hehe)

I’m in agreement with this as well.
booring gameplay ruined pvp.
lack of basic infastructure like rank, the fooling around with paid tournaments, and spectator mode ruined the already ruined pvp’s community.
all around, anet didnt spend enough resources on pvp for it to be a success
