i think you are jumping the gun here OP. Let’s give it a few more days. it’s way too soon. at this point in time it’d be a little bit to easy to come with a general opionion on matter such as these. u will get people claiming that either nothing has changed. or even outright forgone the zerker meta and go all the way on the condi bandwagon cause of the burn and bleed damage. At this point in time personal story accounts will prolly be more prevalent.

For example I have a celestial guardian: With scepter/focus and sword/torch, right hand strength, and pure of voice. it’s an all arounder which deals decent damage in nearly every area. I can also take quite a hit. But I have fought zerker thiefs, zerker warrios, elementalists and honestly my defences weren’t blown away as u feared.

Infact till now I’ve seen a very balanced team make up, conditions, rap dps, all arounders’, cc, terrormancers u name it. I’ve seen it all. Zerker rangers still get as easily mowed down by going out of LOS, Or Retaliate, reflect the damage , or mowe it down with conditions as before, cc warriors, no problem blinding them, thiefs, again heavy cc or condi pressure. it still works as before. infact. I’ve seen little to no change in the meta. still the same heartseaker thiefs here and there or the same shatter mesmer. The same Hambow or shoutbow warrior. and they all go down relatively with the same amount of ease from my point of view. And I’m not that good. I’m just rank 65, I got no champion title whatsoever and my win rate is around 50 percent.

U can possibly argue that with the lack of build diveristy thanx to traits line which in some incases take reduce your sustai even less that it might not even be viable anymore.

I agree with Trevor.

Yesterday, I was on my bunker heavy necro, and it was rough, but I did ok.

Today I tried out a cele/flamethrower engi… it was horrible. Shatter mesmers killed me so fast I couldn’t understand what was going on. I respeced into everything defensive I could find, used speed runes for the vitality boost…

….worthless. And as far as I can tell juggernaut is worthless, as rangers ping-ponged me with no trouble.

So I hopped on my guard, and before I got into a match, people were screaming in map about how little survivability guards have…..

…so I just logged instead. Zerker meta has been sucking all the fun out of this game for a long time. Who thinks it’s fun to die before you have a chance to react? not me.

The only way to play the engineer is to exploit it.
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.

Every class is scrambling right now to determine meta builds and pushing the envelope DPS-wise. This is the case after every patch and more so this patch with the trait revamp and increase in damage. sPVP is a carnage ground for build testing with bodies flying everywhere.

However, this will not last and things will begin to die down gradually. Once things die down, we’ll probably have a faster paced game than pre-patch but less than what it is currently now. Until we remotely get to that settling point, its hard to tell with any certainty if DPS is too much.

There is no reason to respond to my feedback as if it were written by a quaint casual player who ran only a few matches. Our crew has been testing the dynamic & statistical limits of this new patch rigorously, within the last 3 days. You should take this feedback more seriously or at least make sure your arguments & points made are “somewhat accurate” if you disagree with our findings. I was looking for actual findings & feedback, not comments such as: “It’s 3 days in, no one knows anything yet”

Here is my forecast of the new meta unless something is patched:

  • Primary Engager #1 – D/D Cele Elementalist, some run D/F. Of course this build runs earth/water/arcane. It is currently one of two specs that still can stand on a point and not get nuked immediately. It also deals decent consistent DPS. Soothing Mist for the party is also important because it stacks with Regens and/or any other sources of sustain.
  • Primary Engager #2 – Ranger now replaces Engi as a primary on-point engager. The spec is wild/nature/beast with Settler or Cleric’s “your choice of power or condi”. You can set this spec up so it holds a near 100% party regen up-time “which stacks with everything the ele does” as well as give the pet F2 ability another party-wide 2500ish heal that is whole number, that stacks with all other forms of sustain. The build deals less DPS on it’s own but it is strangely the only other good point holder aside from the D/D Cele Ele.
  • On Point Nuker – Power Well Necromancer, Spite/Blood/Soul Berserker. This is the new point holder and imo MvP of this new meta. It holds points not through bunking but by sheer means of Berserker AoE Splash DPS. It does what everyone has always wanted a Staff Ele to do but it does it correctly. Nothing can stand on a point with this build, it’s forced off immediately, especially when the Necro has support from his team mates. Actual bunker specs no longer hold up as a point holder vs. this kind of DPS. on point nuking will push bunking out of meta. I guarantee you this.
  • Off Point Nuker – Engineer Explosives/Firearms/Tools, Rifle. It plays just like Cele/Rifle, only now your focus is to assist points from the outside before landing inside them. Once the primary engagers have control, you can push in to help finish the nuke and send everyone on stagger. This build is also excellent in 1v1 if you were a player who well understood how to play the old Cele/Rifle. This build deals extreme DPS so if you haven’t tested it yet, make sure to put your seat belt on before you throw your first Grenade F skill at a heavy golem. You just may fall out of your chair when you see it.
  • Peeler +1er – Thief/Mesmer and now Power Ranger are the classes that can peel fast enough to backcap and +1 in random places either through stealthing or in the case of the Ranger, just enormous range of fire. Haven’t seen any good power rangers lately? That’s because most people haven’t noticed it’s shift in job role yet. It isn’t an engager, it is a peeler and it does it’s job just as good as Thieves/Mesmers ever have with it’s new traits.

Where are Warriors & Guardians in this list of forecasted meta? Well my friends, Warriors & Guardians seem to have no potency for any specific tpvp jobs at this point, after what we have tested for 1v1s/comps. “I’m not saying they don’t work” but they aren’t optimal anymore and this is mainly due to these reasons:

  • Guardian as DPS – He Judge’s Interventions in for his DPS but when his squishy spec hits against other enormous DPS, he has no peeling power to get out and just ends up dying.
  • Guardian as Bunk – Deals completely negligent DPS. Guardian Bunks also rely completely on boons to sustain themselves and all of that means nothing in the face of Mesmer/Necro/Thief boon removal and now means even less in the face of this enormous DPS “which can just kill bunkers in seconds, even good ones”. Let’s also not forget that a Guardian has kitten for peel and cannot fallback when needed to avoid stagger.
  • Warrior as DPS – Warriors no longer have DPS as I’m sure many of you have noticed,
  • Warrior as Point Holder – Doesn’t work anymore. The only reason that Shoutbows ever worked is because the DPS dealt to you was within reason to stand on a point, roll around in it, cleanse it and sometimes tank it. Now with the DPS increase, there hasn’t been any serious defense increase to counter-play against such DPS as a Warrior. The old Shoutbow splash DPS was significant on point pre-patch and helped dwindle down enemies in a skirmish but now… that little AoE splash is negligent compared to what the above builds that I listed will do to your bunker warrior on point if he is fool enough, to stand there and try to hold it.

So you can see, that my post wasn’t just an ill thought out venting.
I’d appreciate real commentary, rather than the troll comments ~ ty

Yep noticed exactly the same. Warrior is pretty useless now. Dps builds on a warrior aren’t viable and shoutbow/hambow isn’t really playable anymore after this huge dmg increase other classes have gotten.
No reason for a medi guard if you can take a mesmer.
maybe bunker guard will become good but don’t know

Guard as a quick +1 should be easily possible if you know where your limits are.
