Real problem:unrealistic view of skill
This is maybe a bit harsh, but I agree with you to an extent. Between Nov. 12th and Nov. 26th, the solo queue population was extremely low, because people knew that their ratings would go down under the new system. So many decided to hang on to their wins in hopes of a reward at the reset.
Even now, people are still hoping to get that lucky 11-0, and that just doesn’t happen in those random matches the matchmaker has to start you in. Even if it did, the new leaderboard will probably not favor 11-0 starts at all any more. Since the first few matches are random, it’s much more likely that everyone will take some undeserved losses right off the bat, and the people on top of the leaderboard will be those who play better over a long period of time and bury those random losses.
tl;dr solo queue has seen massive improvements in the last month.
The problem is, that most times the worst player decides about win or loss, not the best. And this just dont feels right.
There needs to be some kind of split in the leaderboards. Let the best 50% match against each other, and the worst 50%. So the newbies can learn the game without getting slaughtered by high ranks, and the high ranks dont have to try to carry people who dont even know what a capture point is.
The system is fine.
The only problem is the lack of people pvping in this game (due to a few obvious reasons).
If we had 1000’s of people pvping during specific moments, matchups woud be far more even than they are now.
