Recent PvP "Changes" - a message to ANET
/care? lol
No you’re right ofcourse, but its somewhat like them trying to save a sinking ship at this point in time. Everyone I knew from aion who came here hoping for an even better pvp experience have long since quit. The meta is stale and boring, my friends list is dead and full of pve’rs or wvw zergers.
I’d keep an eye over your shoulder in case there are any future changes that you personally like but otherwise I’d move on. I came from Aion and pvp was far from perfect, and the gear requirements could be cringe worthy but if I look at my friends like rheeza on NA hes having almost more fun on the player made tournaments back on aion (that arent even a game feature) than he ever did on actual game included modes in gw2 o_0

While the GW2 PvP Content is becoming a bit “used” I wouldn’t hesitate in saying that, in my opinion, this game easily outshines Aion PvP. Maybe it is just the style I like but every day that I played Aion was I giant headache.
To there credit they quickly adjusted ticket costs to 1 from 3, that was a fast community reaction update. And good on them.
Hey OP, they said that the PvP content is primarily in Feburary and March (I’m inclined to say sPvP changes are designated for mostly March). They said this patch would be small in comparison to the next two months. I don’t understand why everyone is surprised/upset. They’re clearly testing the waters on a few key features such as the 1-team vs. 1-team match-ups to get gather information, refine their designs, and create a final product.
While single matches are a decent start, sPvP will always be highly niche as long as the pay / grind to play ticket system is in place, making it very expensive for anyone to just learn the game.
If LoL forced people to play normal games in order to get currency to play ranked it would not be the powerhouse it is now.
If they would pay attention: on lots of forum posts ppl said 5 tickets for 3round tournaments are too much for not-hardcore players. And then they come to the absurd idead of 3 tickets for one match with no rewards beside 1 QP.
If they would actually “test” their own game, they would never implement such a thing.
Mabye a-net should hire a guy that plays the game and based on the feedback, you do your cost/reward-system.
If they would actually “test” their own game, they would never implement such a thing.
Then how would YOU test the game so it would be better than how Anet implemented it? Could you make it perfectly fit into the mentality of the players who do paids without upseting them? Srsly, I would like to know.
Easy: Go play on the official server: you will see soon as a not hard-core player that you will find yourself farming free tournaments after some paid matches, because of the lack of tickets. (well no problem with the 5 tickets for 3round).
And for 1 match 3 tickets to get 1QP? You don’t need to be a genius to find out that this would never work out. I mean look at the forum posts… even top-players raged out. Good they corrected the fee now.
