As we can tell everyone loves 2v2 and 3v3 small scale combat.
If you think about it, if they reduced large amount of skills not all skills to max limit of 3 targets wouldn’t this make for better game play.
I’m not talking every single skill, mix it up E.g. make half the nade kit only hit 3 targets and maybe the F skill skill hit 5 targets. Just using that as a E.g. so don’t get all icky about it.
I just think if we are to reduce the amount of spam and start pushing towards a more solid state of pvp balance we need less spam aoe skills. Rather then nerfing them into the ground reduce there AoE limit.
What does everyone think? would this work or would it destroy the meta even more.

I’m also talking about Passive skills, like Spirit’s they will only effect up to 3 target’s. Think what I’m trying to get at is, there are allot skills I feel should be 3 cap limit and have exception of elites and f1-2-3-4 kitten , this means weapon skills as well cap limit of 3. I can’t personally say I know all the skills that are capped at 3 I know there are few.
Now question I also have Sigil’s how many of them are capped at 3? like Geomancy….
Like compare Bonfire (3) to Geo (5) damage is ruffly the same atleast you can counter play Bonfire where Geo is every 10 seconds and it takes no real skill besides weapon swap which you already do.

The problem is that it would cause inherent imbalance for some Professions in certain specs.
If you cap all of the AoE at 3 rather than 5, then it is an indirect buff to Spirit Rangers, Minion Spec Necros, Engineer (due to Supply Crate alone, ignoring turrets like most players do) and every Mesmer.
I don’t like mindless spam of AoE, but the core design philosophy of certain professions makes heavy AoE capability a major necessity in this game. I don’t really see a way around it unless there is a serious rework to the targeting system and/or a large number of the skills that spawn additional targets.
Yeah its hard to say cause I was thinking same problem with Ai, maybe its time they add trait to some classes 20% more damage to Ai.
Make it major trait, that will keep Ai meta in check.

Yup. I think AoE spam is unfortunate but at least it is almost enough to keep the AI spam in check.

In a perfect world they’d both be nerfed. Spamming aoe on a sea of health bars isn’t fun to anyone.

It is fun for me when I see numbers everywhere.
It is also fun for players that don’t want to be overwhelmed by a pet army.
I just think, there should be sth like a damage reduction on capture points.
“Flooding” the whole point with AoEs basicly forces your enemy to either leave the point or take the damage.
No, we have enough of AI spammers don’t need to buff them indirectly.

This AoE limit is one of most ridiculous things in this game. Ridiculous! Ridiculous! Awesome Ridiculous!
Imagine i fighting a Necro with 5 minions… All then will hit me at same time, but my AoE attack do not will hit all then because i can hit only 5 enemies…
Anet needs review his AoE concept and allow all AoE to work in all eligible targets.
The Opening Post request a situation where Mesmers, Necros, Engineers and Rangers become immunes to AoE.

^ Well yea at least in spvp, they nerfed it probably because their servers can’t handle the load in wvw, or at the very least a 10 target cap.
It’s infuriating pets making real targets immune due to a target cap.
