Better yet why not displayed everyone MMR on match stats screen. That way we can see what side of the “matchmaking system” we are on for that game. The low MMR team or the higher MMR team. Then we can all just decide as a team if we want to afk or not.

And it would prove to these ^ good players how artificial their MMR is.

We should just put it right next to the division number in the player’s name tag, so everyone will just have clear objective evidence of what total waste of human beings they are. It will make it easier to rub it in their faces.

This feature could be enhanced by Anet employing teams to accurately measure and post the kitten sizes of each league player next to the name tag itself. To make it gender fair, they can measure breast size on the ladies as well. (Edit: Once again, why are you censoring the word kitten, but not breast? It’s the correct word for a part of the human anatomy.)

I’m sure the people in question will offer a variety of great excuses, such as “It was just all the bad players I got paired with dragging my MMR” and “It was cold out when they measured it”, but having more ways for us to compare each other is the first step in clearing up all this toxicity.

I thought playing against people better than you was one way to get better at a competitive game.

Either way, I think you are confusing the volatility of the first few weeks of a fresh ladder reset with how it will be for the whole season.

it would give players an actual platform to benchmark their progress

it would also help the community help the devs identify unfair matchups

Anet can’t monitor every single match that takes place due to there being just too darn many. If everyone’s MMR was released we as a player base through screen shots could help them identify errors in their system.

Also as players we could see that maybe we’re just a 1100 MMR player and we could work on improving that number.

You can just start looking at the matches you lost for ways you can do better and improve instead of rushing to the forums to post about how it’s everyone elses fault and you just have a MMR you don’t deserve.

The system is already unfair since MMR decides your teammates, but doesn’t decide the average MMR of the opposing team in the league system. It’s the same issue of randomness that you would face if you participated in a professional tournament where the pairings are from the draw of a hat.

People don’t need to know their MMR number to do that; they are doing it just fine as it is.

It’s just an arbitrary number created to try and deal with the chaotic and complex issue of trying to create teams from large pools of players in some kind of ordered way. Releasing doesn’t accomplish much outside of giving people another way to compare themselves.

Nobody complaining right now will change as a result of it. In their world, that number is derived from the success of their past teams, their past teams were all total kitten except for them and future success is ruined because the number keeps pairing them with other total kitten players.

Yes they are i just made another account under another e-mail. In fact the alt account i am currently on was the same. I just recently bought HOT on this one. But i got all the way to lvl 70 without paying a dime.

So what? It doesn’t prove anything.

It just can be the landslide effect of losing MMR in a very volatile pool that’s pairing players of all differing skill levels.

You are all in the same pool. You have a score of 50. You lose a match; you get a score of 40. You now get paired with other players who are statistically worse than the ones paired at 50, so your chances of winning against the other players in the pool are less. You lose another game and those chances get less.

You are all in the same pool. You have a score of 50. You win a match; you get a score of 60. You get paired with players who are statistically better than the ones at 50. They have a higher chance of winning against the other players in the pool even if they have to carry you. You win and you move to 70. That chance of winning increases.

Those are very simplified numbers to showcase the point, of course. That’s a snowball effect of the system working as intended, creating these kind of win and loss streaks that won’t be there if the game matches teams based on their average MMR, creating closer, more even games with more swings in wins and losses, but ultimately slowing everyone’s progression down thru the ladder.

It’ll show players how bad they are while seeing that 1 random high mmr in a group of 5.

Players don’t want the world to know their bad and they don’t want to be asked.
Players will rage when their mmr keeps lowering due to “their team being bad” and “bad matchmaking”.

I don’t see anything possitive for mmr being available for players, whether it be private or public. If anything, it’ll show how inaccurate the MMR/Glicko/Matchmaking algorithm truly is in GW2 PvP so it’s really not in Anet’s best interest to do so.

Remember, your MMR actually measures the win/loss of the TEAMS you were assigned to.

It only changes based on what the TEAM you are assigned to does, and that includes all the teammates you got that went AFK or ran useless builds and died in seconds every single fight. The ones who streamed one by one into 3 enemies and died instantly. Over and over.

All of their unskilled, clueless actions change your MMR.

The one big issues this would help identify is the rampant unfair matchups. As the current system stands, it’s totally possible to have a team of 500 MMR players vs a team of 2000 MMR players. Numbers are arbitrary but you get a point.

You make valid points yet miss the main one. There is no reason to hide a players ranking unless you aren’t confident in your system.

I want this game balanced and enjoyed by all players. If it means me taking some time out to help identify the problem with MM so be it.

Awful Logic…..to let a soccer team from 3rd division play against a 1st division team won’t improve the skills of the 3rd division team up to the 1st division level.

What anet has done got nothing to do with fair gameplay, when you win it’s because you face players who barely can use WASD and when you lose it’s because you face ESL players…there is no middle ground, you either blow or get blown out

Win or lose…I’m not learning anything, it’s detrimental to go and win against somebody who clearly doesn’t know what they’re doing and when you lose it’s because you’re facing people with TS3 tactical organization and you get left in the dust by 400+ pts, so bad they start to camp the spawn point.

Was it that hard to create 3 MMR based leagues?
What do you say? low pop?…well I don’t think what anet is doing will increase pop any time soon..on the contrary
