Shouldn’t ‘pvp’ be based solely on skill and not builds?

Why do we have to continually deal with stupid OP builds and a meta… if amulets are removed… only weapon skills and utilities require balance (Which is a lot less work).

Its far easier to balance the class if you don’t have to take into consideration each amulet that class could possibly have.

Thoughts?

Replace skills with rock, paper, or scissors.

Meta will shift as balance progresses…balance is not a destination, it’s a continuous process.

I don’t like the current meta either at the moment, but this idea is silly.

Any RPG involves varied stats. If all you care about is reflexes, go play a shooter or fighting game instead of trying to take the building aspect of the game away from people.

Why is this idea silly? its far easier to balance. A good example (Albeit 1 v 1) is blade and soul, they do an amazing job of balancing all classes.

They don’t take your gear into consideration and everyone is forced to play on equal terms.

Throwing more variables into the mix is going to make it far more difficult to balance, theres no way around it.

I do agree that removal of amulets would increase build variety much more. But for this they would need to make more usefull traits, so instead of choosing stats as one of the most important thing, it would be traits. Beside why should be 50% or more skills useless just because you dont have any condi dmg/precision/condi duration/power …… + as OP said easyer to balance. Duno why you ppl so against that. Since now you have such choice at choosing what amulet to have (read: forced into meta amulet).

Because if you give no one stats that’s equal to everyone having an amulet that gives equal stat points to every stat aka the celestial amulet.

Unless you’re suggesting anet decide that they want warriors playing a power build at all times and so give them Berserker amulet stats, and they want necros running condi builds at all times so they give necros carrion amulets stats – this won’t go down well for how bias and selfish it is.

The amulet is determining the builds and meta too much. Although the idea in the OP is too harsh, it is a good way of thinking. They could also make more amulets, but with more different stat combinations; while we mostly have 4 different stats on 1 amulet, you could have 2 per amulet for example. Adds a great deal of differentiation in PvP, which is so badly needed.

I dont think they know even where to start from… they only do minor changes over one thing or another once in awhile on the top classes.
