This is the biggest problem with the pvp season. The system is set up for individual rewards but require a team effort in order to progress. Most of the people playing this game solo que. They don’t want the hastel of putting a team together and showing up on time everyday to get better as a team. That is the nature of the Guilds Wars player base, casual players.

The obvious solution to this problem would be to add a solo que, but the ain’t going to happen, because that would crush the dream or competitive e sports that anet is currently pushing. If there was a solo que then it would severely limit the number of players competing in the tournaments.

With mmr being used to set up the matches, the pip system is nothing more than a personal reward system. This is the main reason people are upset. People need the pip progression to get the legendary back piece. It is extremely difficult to get 2 teams of 5 people in the solo que to coordinate and work together. There is always that one idiot that thinks they can solo far. This makes it almost impossible to string together the multiple win streaks you need to progress tiers.

Mm, can’t agree with outright removing pip loss, or they might as well put the wings on a reward track and close ranked. At best, prevent tier loss in Ruby too, but even that is a stretch of you ask me… The last two before Legendary aren’t supposed to be easy/grinded. It’s what sets people apart.

In lower levels they are its called tiers if your talking about ruby or diamond then you should lose pips and tiers per loss, that’s the point. if a match is fair 50/50 this system works fine.

A 50/50 system isn’t fair. Once you make it to your mmr level then you will almost always win one then lose one. This makes it impossible to advance your pip count. This is the problem with decent to medicare players. They reach their mmr level faster then the higher tiers. Removing pip loss will probably make it too easy, but making it so you can lose one match before a pip loss.

There needs to be some cushioning so that people don’t have to win 4 or 5 matches in row to progress. My experience has been that I can usually win 2 in a row, very rarely 3. Then I lose 3 or more in a row putting me back where I started.

I’m on the win 2 lose 3 merry go round also, but, I’m on it for a 2 days(so far) them I win 4-5 matches in a row the next, before I spend the rest of that day back on the round about.

As much as I want closer matches so I’m having fun and not just rolling teams with very little effort, to then facing teams that just smash you no matter what your team try’s.

I think the whole system needs re working. What they need to do when this season ends it but everyone who finishes in the top 2 in there own. The next 2 in there own to, and the rest in there own. Then the people who finish in the top division of there group, moves up to the next level. If you finish in emerald and below in your group then you move down one. I think this would keep everyone happy. ANet could add titles for the people who complete the final division. That way you can tell the good from the bad and the great.

And any PvP player can get there legendary back item. All it will take is time, and some skill. And for the players who want to be the best can move up the ranks. Till they are playing with the best. Then the cream will really rise to the top.

They can change it if you are solo queue and you get match with a pre made you dont lose pip,that way when you get stomped by pre made but dont lose your progress.

Your train of logic assumes that EVERY player is SUPPOSED to make it to legendary, they arnt, if you reach the point where you are consistently at a 50/50 win/lose ratio, then you have reached the division your SUPPOSED to be at currently.
This IS NOT a reward track, its a seperation of players into different divisions based on their skill. You arnt entitled to legendary division just because you work hard at it, you have to both work hard at it AND be successful

Yeah “skill”, sure, because Reaper requires tons of skill in order to make progress…

It is extremely difficult to get 2 teams of 5 people in the solo que to coordinate and work together. There is always that one idiot that thinks they can solo far. This makes it almost impossible to string together the multiple win streaks you need to progress tiers.

Solo queue? What solo queue? There is no solo queue. There is only queuing as a 1 man incomplete party. And there’s only one person that can be faulted for doing that I’m afraid.

Putting the rewards on a reward track would be a good idea that way pips can remain as a measurement of skill while creating less QQ.

And, your assuming that division equals skill. It does not. There are plenty of ways to cheat the system so that you get the matches you want to progress your pip level. Your skills level and pip are no longer tied together, so you can now have a low mmr and a high pip level if you can get the group together to accomplish it. As a someone who typically solo ques I don’t really want to do those things as it takes away from others who are trying to enjoy the game. I can forcably lower my mmr, and lock in my pip level, but that seems like an kitten way to go about it.

Yeah “skill”, sure, because Reaper requires tons of skill in order to make progress…

If it doesn’t require skill show me your Dia/Legend reaper that you made 100% solo.
