Replacement for leavers in sPvP
Have seen this work rather well in other games and admit had pondered a similar thread over the last few weeks are more people are dropping out after they begin to lose. This would be a nice feature and even better if it could flag the player that came in as a replacement to ensure their team knows it was step in player. I can see some difficulty in the coding though in trying to determine a drop from someone changing toons.

Speaking from my own experiences, I cannot even remember the last time I have been disconnected…it isnt always the game’s fault for a DC either. But the game doesn’t know what happens, just that you are now gone.

Can’t remember but please make dishonor only apply if said player doesn’t log back in before match finishes or they join another match.
Also not sure how but if you dc just before match finish but due to time are unable to rejoin before it finishes it also harsh. So maybe if within a time limit they coul op to veiw score screen which would still count as playing the match.
But other then this make it hurt them please.
Make em bleed! Maybe also give +1 gold for those who finish a match and -1 gold for those who disconnect and don’t reconnect! Give them a dishonor boon where their toon walks around farting and saying dumb things for an hour… So everyone knows their dishonor!

Intentional or not. It does hurt your teammates. If you DC that much, it is better to try to improve your connection consistency.
Also players should get punished for afking.
Basically if a player has no activity(no combat, no cap/decap, no contesting) for more than something like 60 seconds, the players should get dishonor.
The server should gauage a player’s ping and if it is terrible at the time they que, it shouldn’t allow that player to que.

But what’s terrible ping. You start talking intercontinental latency & your around 300 – 600 msec sometimes.

Dishonor shouldn’t be the only thing in place, because in the end, the team still loses, and even if they don’t lose, it makes the fight a bit harder for the outnumbered team.
I dunno about you, but I like winning. It’s kind of irritating when you could have gained the upperhand and finished the match, but instead, you lose because the other guy decides he needs to do whatever else he wanted AFTER entering queue and playing for a tiny bit of the match.
I’m more concerned about players rage quitting… telling everyone he’s no longer going to play, then sits in the base when the game is basically even.
Not that 4v5’s aren’t important either but the trolls who constantly quit mid game are utterly frustrating to deal with. I just tell everyone to report these players as “botting” and hope the Devs can see the trade chat. (A dev told us to do that, if I recall correctly)

If you legit DC the dishonor shouldn’t be a big deal because DC’s shouldn’t be all that often. If you’re DC’ing often enough that dishonor is hurting you then maybe look at getting a better connection or just don’t pvp because you’re killing your team.

most of so called DC or AFK are on purpose, and it’s really like 70% of those, i don’t mind to get dishonored if my conenction is that kittened up to DC 3 times in one day, ussually not happens with me at all

Mweh sometimes you get an unexpected phone call/door/dc. Cant do to much about that except putting the match on hold till a replacement is found. Ultimately I think dishonor is a fine mechanic to target frequent leavers and the replacement road is not very feasible.
The biggest group of afkers/leavers willen do so because the opponent is much better or team mates are in their perspective incapable. This would be solved by better match making, I think leagues will help but in the end every match making system is dependent on a large player base. Promoting pvp and better tutorials for beginners could definitely help but ragers also must understand they are scaring potentional pvpers away.
The /report for leeching from Guild Wars 1 was also so cool

Will you get rid off trolls? Not likely ..they will troll anyway ..maybe less frequently.

Players who leaves occasionnaly due to dc or some real live incident will only get kittened off which results in diminishing player base.
This was tested over and over in different games. It only works for huuuge player base when you don’t have to care about players which will be trapped in dishonor by accident and rage quit the game totaly.
The only rasonable solution is to let match go on 4v5 with substantial buffs for cripled team (extra speed, enhanced def/attack, faster match points count) to compensate lack of player.
No one hurt …no grudges ..some extra fun from enhanced champion.
Those enhancments should be substantial to make real difference.

if i remember right you need to so called “DC” few times in a row in 24h or so to get dishonoured, but need some decent reporting system for AFK aswell then to count in spineless
Replacements is still a terrible idea.
If you replace a DCed member, you’re team is still at a distinct disadvantage due to the time it took to get a replacement in, meaning that not only do the 4 people on your team get a botched experience, but so does the poor schmuck that got roped into the (most likely) losing side of a partial game after waiting in queue.
The dishonor will help with the DC and don’t come back some. Evan shared the wiki on the code and he does have logic to handle short DCs which hopefully works. As far as improving ones internet connection, well as soon as one of us is able to take control of all the communication companies in the world and create a global government then we can come back and talk about the internet improvement issues.
Now how to improve the AFKers I am sitting in spawn people next.

That’s a tough one. To go with something like this would you would need to have the game put the player up for a boot vote else it could too easily be used to troll a player or kick someone having a really bad game. But I like the concept. Also if you went with a player vote kick you would need to have a way for a player to dispute the kick and have some heavy penalties for abusing it if proven false. The simplist might be a report feature and enough reports creates a audit by a GM, but then you are making that someone’s job which is a whole different story for ANet.

This could be easily abused if the buffs made a “real difference.” A powerful premade group could have one of it’s members leave on purpose so the rest of the team could get the buff. I certainly wouldn’t want to fight someone with a big buff if I couldn’t beat them under normal circumstances.

So I can PvP while avoiding dishonor when I dc a lot.

I just got another one on my team. A player who Dc’ed b4 even the game started in a rank match. Never came back either. :/ Maybe he was afk or had technical problems. But Dishonor will not solve the problem.
Wait, people still play this game? Amazing!
A few other things would help:
1. Give extra rewards for a team that is forced to play handicapped, for whatever reason.
2. Increase the handicapped teams attributes, so that a 5-4 advantage is not such a guaranteed miserable gaming experience.
3. Allow a team that is clearly outmatched to surrender ( and give reasons for it)
