Replays
I’m really surprised at the lack of people thinking replays would be a much needed addition. They’re that final tool that would allow Guild Wars 2 to finally be the ESport it is destined to be.
really? replays would make gw2 an esport? lol
but anyway, i recall a discussion by the gameplay programmer evan lesh i believe, who was explaining why spectator mode was so limited, and why they couldn’t have observer mode that was viewable by all players like in gw1, and he said essentially it’s because they don’t have the capability to “record” the game state in such a way that the game could “play it back” efficiently. that’s why spectator mode is based on players actually being in the server. and i think this is why replays are not possible currently. he said it would be very technically difficult to implement it, and that it wasn’t high on their priority list.
I want replay function in game, GW1 record matches and you can see later. Of course I want something more like on LoL, a full replay you can pause, speed up, backward, move camera, etc. Even save to hard disk to share, load the replay in game. Even very old RTS games have the functionality, why not GW2? this type of replay not even need the internet connection or server resources (of course the GW1 way is useful too, imagine you can just enter game right now and watch MistLeague or PAX matches how many times you want, of the angle you want, etc)

I just want this so I can post on forums people that cheat.
lately ive been thinking about this too. i too am surprised that not more ppl want this feature. it would be awesome to see what you dd wrong and what you did right. learn from your mistakes and glory in your victories. and not just watch your point of view..but every ones point of view. can switch from player to player to see what they see…..
We need both replays and observation of high ranked team queue on a 2 minute delay. I’m really sad that Arenanet gives random people called ‘shoutcasters’ the only access to watching high ranked queues. These guys are not even active enough to have a regular viewership.
