Now that QP leaderboards are out, its pretty obvious who knows what they’re talking about and who doesn’t.

The sPvP boards have been spammed by terrible players since day 1. In order to promote more constructive, critical, and intelligent discussion going into the future, I propose that anyone that is not in the top 100 for QP Leaderboards are locked out from posting on these boards.

This will not only help to highlight the real issues in this the game, instead of every thread being “omg thieves,” or something equally silly, it will also allow for more intelligent and knowledgeable discussion about the high end metagame.

Perhaps those in the lower tiers may actually learn something about getting better at this game from the more experienced players instead it just being a situation of the blind leading the blind.

If you limit the forums then we will all use these OP builds as well and be in top leaderboards. Argument invalid.

I disagree with locked posting, but locked thread creating might be a good compromise, and displaying qp by profile is a good idea.

I say this as someone with no qp. I have no team, nor will i. The people i came to gw2 with (we were in the top 20 i. Gw 1 for most of a single season, thats our highest claim to fame.) Ya they all quit, because theres no deck building, or positioning, or fun.

BUT, anet should listen to the people who like this bad game when figuring out how to address the balance of this bad game.

The rest of us are just waiting for a different game mode, one that hopefully isnt bad this time.

i personally think the devs are doing a good job at eliminating bad topics and infracting poor posts. this thread is basically saying that you don’t want to hear from the masses and want to concentrate on the elitist few. What you need to keep in mind is that the elitist few are the ones figuring out work arounds for the problems that normal people just complain about. Thus, they wouldn’t be posting here anyways because they know Anet will get around to fixing it eventually.

While the idea is terrible the point: you have a lot of knee jerk post that highlight player shortcomings over actual issues is valid. Things like the gaurdian block bug should have been well discussed here or countering/ how to make a build, or in depth metagame discussion. Instead this forum has a really high concentration of tears.

If you want high-level discussion, go create a well thought out, discussion invoking thread. There are plenty of them on these boards, some with several 100 replies. Sure, there are more whine/qq threads, but those can be easily ignored.
Cutting off the vast portion of your player base from the official game forums is not good business.

I would actually compromise with being able to see peoples win/loss ratio in both tournament and structured pvp.

Cutting out the majority of people to avoid seeing QQ threads is elitist and downright ignorant.

Are you suggesting that I’m incompetent? Cause my account isn’t linked to the top 100 QP point board? Seriously? Nevermind that I’ve never competed in paid tournaments cause I don’t care about them, so it’s kinda hard to be on the leaderboard (nevermind that this is the “sPvP discussion forum,” not the “top 100 QP paid tournaments” discussion forum)…

To be fair, there is a big difference between Davos, quantum physics, AND A VIDEO GAME DISCUSSION FORUM (shocking, I know).

The majority of people have nothing positive to contribute to a discussion about PvP. Many of them actively make the forum worse-it’s difficult to have an actual discussion about builds and balance when half of the posts will be “Waaahhh, I died to a <thief/mesmer/whatever>, it needs to be nerfed.” When so many of the complaints can be legitimately answered by either “It’s imbalanced because you’re playing 8v8 on 5v5 maps” or “It only seems overpowered/underpowered because you are bad,” good discussion will be drowned out.

Showing games won/lost would certainly be a step in the right direction, but only for tPvP. Because of autobalance, and leaving not counting against you, quick join win/loss is beyond worthless. It’s possible that leaving a tournament match wouldn’t count against you, but I don’t know for sure, as players pathetic enough to leave tournament matches are rare. Also, paid and free tournaments would ideally be separated, as paid are far more competitive.

Remember, just because something is elitist, doesn’t mean that it’s wrong. If there is a desire to improve discussion quality on the forums, some change will be needed. And whatever change that is would not be favorable to worse players.

But seriously, you “attack” people that don’t have a QP, get attacked back and after that you say that players that aren’t in top 100 once again prove they are not competent of discussing the TOPIC AT HAND? What exactly is that “topic at hand” apart from the fact that you attacked them, but obviously you expect them to not fight you back?

I wonder what you would say if the player that has 65 QP told you to kitten because you know nothing about the game? Would you go like: “Yes sir, I am sorry Sir, I will remove myself from this forum Sir!” If not, who are you then, to define at what point someone knows something about the game and who does not?

Nor does it mean they are right, or objective, some of the best PvPers in games I’ve played have also been some of the worst when it comes to objectivity on things like class balance and their opinion was bascially considered worthless in such things.

Nor for that matter do many things in tPvP have anything to do with how good (or how much time some one spends playing the game) someone is, they are often simply a matter of preference.

Lastly this forum is structured PvP, not paid tounaments and is about all levels of structured PvP.

Yes let’s limit the accessability of a game forum that caters to tens of thousands of people across multiple continents to a handful of elitist schmucks that think because they’re a bit good at a game, theirs are the only opinions that matter. Honestly, it’s this kind of smug superiority that makes me hate any sort of competitive ranking system at all.

I have more sPVP experience then most people in QP Ladder

It’s unlikely to ever happen on official forums and it would be completely meaningless either way until there’s a real ladder with a widespread playerbase instead of the same handful of teams playing each other day in/day out.

People don’t have to be elite players to voice their opinions on the game. If anything, casual opinion is worth a lot more than elite players, because when those casuals leave you’re left with very little (elite) players to play with and certainly can’t make the game into a worthwhile esport. Casuals are the ones who make or break a game’s popularity.

Also, it just feels like OP doesn’t like the fact that the general opinion is that thieves, mesmers, and guardian bunkers are currently overpowered, the 3 professions he chooses to play. In my opinion, playing these FOTM removes all the credibility of OP who probably can’t be good with anything not currently overpowered and it is his opinion that should be ignored rather than anyone else’s.

what competitive pvp are you talking about ? There is no such thing like that in this game. It is filled with unbalance and terribly wrong objectives/maps.

This game pvp is just completely dead period. Anet failed on this part.

Casuals players certainly matter, but that does not automatically mean that their opinions have merit. Sometimes the answer really is that the class they are complaining about is balanced, and only seems strong or weak because they are playing poorly. Trying to balance around popular opinion is a fast way to turn any game uncompetitive.

This is a thread that needs to be locked. Upset but still constructive feedback is one thing, but elitist calls for the minority to be silenced so only your voice is heard? Yeah. No.

I suggest we take it a step further. Only let the very top person on the QP boards post. Everyone else is clearly less good than he is, so why bother listening to them?

Of course, a forum with only one person is pretty boring, so probably the best thing to do is shut down the whole thing.

I do think we need a tPvP board and an SPvP board, however. 8v8 is nothing like 5v5.
