Rerolling from Mesmer to Elementalist. WOW?
Thanks for being honest
I hope they tune the Mesmer to a good place where they are balanced, and don’t end up neutering them(like what happened to Necro’s axe from BWE to Live)

Elementalist are hard to play, if you make a mistake you’ll die very fast vs most classes. But when you do master them, they are pretty strong.
Mesmers are OP in 1v1, the thing is that tournaments can’t be played without roamers and at least 1 support, while the class is OP on it’s own, if you put 2/3 mesmers you’ll start losing games for the comp.
Running 1 Mesmer 1 thief/ele, is much better than running 2 mesmers.
I would only recommend to play two mesmers in Khylo, they are really good defenders, and if you plan to abuse of the trabuche, you can have 1 mesmer on it, it’s really strong for defending it, and can use the teleport to repair it.
People think that a class need a nerf if it beats their class in 1v1, it’s sad…
mesmers need a nerf cuz they can repair a trabuche with the teleport, that’s thekitten thing.
A team need to be balanced, mobility, support, burst, dots, 1v1 capability, your class will never have them all, deal with it.
If you want a class that mesmers can’t beat 1v1, take the ranger and build it tank, with condition dmg and healing power, they’ll not be able to take you down, even if they are much more skilled than you.

I would say when you do master an elementalist, they are still just even with a mediocre player on mesmer

Mesmer is the hardest class for a Elementalist to beat. But I’d argue that the right specced Elementalist is just as good in team based games as a Mesmer.
Mesmer and guardian are both a little OP in 1v1 at the moment, far as my xp goes (playing thief)
Let’s not focus on Mesmer and Guardian because they seem overall more balanced. Let’s focus on what sort of buffs/changes Anet can do to the Elementalists because they’re really the ones that need more help here lol.
eles have 20 skills in 4 attunements. right now eles dont need a great fix, but players need time and skill to use that class 100% effective
The Mesmer is a duelist, that is where it is strongest.
It doesn’t scale well beyond 2v2; as you pass into 3v3+ it gets weaker and weaker (incidentally the ele gets stronger in larger engagements) and this is all intentional.
All professions will never be balanced in both 1v1 and large team fights, trade offs must be made.

I really don’t understand where this notion of Mesmers being crappy in anything larger in a 1v1 is coming from. They have fantastic team fighting skills. Their skillset makes them one of the more condition resilient classes, with the ability help take some pressure off their teammates with Null Field. Arcane Thievery is an extremely good boon steal that is great at reducing the effectiveness of Guardians holing up.
Time Warp is a pretty kitten game changing elite and even if you don’t opt for that in team scenarios (you should why aren’t you?!) Moa Morph can turn a 3v3 into a 3v2 for 10s. That’s more than what most elites can do.
Yes Illusions can’t change targets, but good Mesmers know how to delegate illusions on different targets (it’s really not that hard..) and if you’re a condition build, Staff Auto-attack bounces to adjacent targets so it’s not mission impossible to keep pressure on multiple targets.
Will they have to watch out for insta-gibs by multiple classes? Yes, but that applies to everyone in a team fight anyway..
If you want a class that mesmers can’t beat 1v1, take the ranger and build it tank, with condition dmg and healing power, they’ll not be able to take you down, even if they are much more skilled than you.
Tank rangers with condition builds can beat mesmers, unless it’s a tank mesmer with iDisenchanter and reflect focus. Then the ranger eats it.
The best way to determine which classes are strong or weak is to hold many highly tournaments over a period of time, and see which classes tend to be over and underused by the best teams.
When we have that data, then we can start to ask, “Why is it so?” and make balance changes.
Deciding balance problems based on very narrow situations like 1v1, and based only on anecdotal experience and theorycrafting, is not the best way.
Shukran – It doesn’t matter if we have 20 moves, when heartseeker hits us for 5-6k there’s nothing we can do.
OP your entire post is assuming that elementalists are not UP themselves, not defending mesmer, just saying, some perspective that prevents bandwagoning would be welcome
Lol, yeah, they should switch the two Elem downed skills.
After the nerfs right before launch, Ele is the weakest class in the game in sPvP. It’s not impossible to do well with them, but you have to work ten times harder than you would with almost any other class for the same results.
They should revert or severely reduce the nerfs to the Arcane utilities, and move Cleansing Water to tier 2 instead of tier 3 Water. Ele would be in a much better situation with those simple changes.

so?
don’t you think that maybe their ROLE is different?
guys, comparing apples with lemons won’t make you smarter.
learn to play and learn to understand what you can and can’t do with your class.
until then..well. go on with whine i just /facepalm

A lot of people even think Ele’s in PvE are a joke. I think it can be fun, but the general perception out there is that they’re an UP class in which every other class can perform what an Ele can do better and a lot of people don’t want one on their team. And that’s no different in PvP – they have to work harder to achieve things that other classes can do better.

You can’t really say “L2P” when the majority of gamers are more casual. Sure the top tier PvPers that are hardcore about the game can probably get a lot out of the class. But if a class requires you to be pro to play than that’s pretty broken. The average gamer just wants to enjoy the style of the Ele and if it’s that hard to play for your typical GW2 player than let’s fix it.

Actually mesmers are very powerfull(to not use the OP word) simple they have the best toolset. THe survivability is giant, the damage is awesome. He can use some small nerfs. But for me its the only cloth class working properly.
Eles cant get the damage even if they want, they only has a buffer right now.
Necros jesus, they are uterly crap in every aspect. kitten damage, kitten control, kitten condition stacking, very bad mobility, the survivability is very poor DS is trash. 2 hits and its over, and take forever to get the bar full again. Condition stack is a bad joke in comparsion with how fast/effective the oter classes can stack and restack the conditions after the cleanse, the only good thing are wells, but you lack the tools to bring the wells where its needed.
The problem with mesmer is that they have way too many Break Stuns. Basically there is no point in CC’ing a Mesmer because they will break out of CC. This means that the mesmer has incredible survivability, which is fine on it’s own. Pair the survivablility that with the fact that the longer a mesmer stays alive and the more phantasms he has on you the lower the chance that you will win and you have a very powerful class.
Mesmer break stuns and CC’s removals need to be toned down.
elementalist is more fun and can be more useful (depending on what your team needs)

Mesmers are fine. If you cannot figure out how to beat them, try harder. Still can’t beat them, well you’re probably bad at PvP, sorry. Same for Thieves: if you cannot figure out how to beat HS spam, try harder. Can’t beat the 100B from a Warrior? Get a brain and move.
