Resistance Equivalent to Protection
As much as I think it’s a cool idea it would ruin zerker stance for wars which is what I’m guessing is how you got your idea due to the resistance on war. Zerker stance would have to get reverted (necros would be super countered) or it would have to pulse resistance quickly.
Resistance is strong but it’s still a boon and technically it’s not 100% immune. So you can still load people up and when the resistance ends it does its damage.
All the resistance skills would have to be buffed some other way to make up for the difference it might actually cause more imbalance

Well using the second option would let it block conditions. Just give the stance 13 stacks.
Resistance is fine as long it doesn’t last too long. Aegis for condi would be melted quicker then you realise.
Resistance nerf is impossible unless you nerf condis first. WvW would be destroyed with all the condi spam if there was no resistance
Actually only one class can use resistance effectively so technically the nerf would affect only one class which is already God tier. Condi warrior/resistance warrior. Furthermore, stacking resistance is easier to balance for the future they can simply add or remove more stacks from skills.

Its not fine. Yes, if it acted like aegis it would melt too fast. But its still too powerful. It needs to be reigned in. It should be pulled in line with protection and just have it negate 33% of the conditions. So they would do 33% less damage, and the non damaging ones would last 33% less time.

The 33% idea wouldn’t really work because conditions are not the same as direct damage. let’s say you pop a 3 second resistance and get hit with an 8 second bleed. You’ve really only mitigated like 12% of the damage. I think resistance is fine and condis are fine.
Resistance need to protect people against condition damage not the attrition part. I mean movement skills already ignore soft CC and ignoring the healing debuff of poison is completely killing the purpose of poison.

Again the only thing that uses resistance are warriors and right now they basically can’t die at all to conditions. And without the poison effect they out heal everything.

A proper war lol , since when a proper balanced class is supposed to facetank a damage type while just mindless land his mace which btw is doing worst condi damage on a single skill with a freaking low cd .

The nerf should be to removing the kittening RNG from the boonstrip and condi application so players can intelligently control their and their opponent’s boons and condis. I like the idea of prioritizing damaging conditions and damage mitigation boons for removal. A priority list? Change resistance so it only affects damage related conditions and maybe if it’s up the condi clear would prioritize the movement impairing conditions so when resistance ends, condis can still do damage. This places more importance on the Expertise condi stat as it would precision for power classes. I feel this would significantly change the way condi bombs work and I think it would be more fun since it doesn’t hinge on the RNGods (not fun, this is never fun).

Agreed. Being able to prioritise removal of boons/conditions would be better for the game.
Resistance isn’t the equivalent of Protection – it’s a boonified (Meaning can be stripped/corrupted) condi counterpart to Ranger’s Signet of Stone and Warrior’s “Endure Pain”.
I think Resistance is fair as is (Disclaimer: I main Warrior) because unlike physical damage, conditions do damage regardless of whether or not the person who applied the condi’s is attacking. Last time I checked Thief still runs D/P where it matters and the only viable Necro build atm is Signets, which does equal parts power and condi damage making it a hybrid.
Condition damage does more damage per hit. In otherwords while power may require dodging one skill conditions often require dodging many skills that keep coming like a stream. This is why people feel like conditions cannot be dodged. In reality they can it is just there is more damage found in condition attacks than in power attacks if they don’t get removed. For example a Condition warrior can take half your hp in 2 seconds and all of it in 4 seconds if the land a good condition burst. This is much faster than a power build that would have to actually land a focused attack a few times in sequence rather than simultaneously. For this reason condition feels stronger because the number of sources to apply it are numerous making the evasion of one application meaningless. Furthermore. Assuming infinate HP condition damage has the highest damage per second. Not only is a iny bit of power damage found in condition builds but also once the conditions are stacked they can end up doing up to 10k per second without Cool down. While a power build may only do 20k every 10-5 seconds.
Personally I don’t agree with conditions as they are right now. However, Warrior has an unfair advantage compared to all the other classes when dealing with conditions. They have the option to go full counter and be immortal to condition specs. No other class can do this because warrior is the only class with resistance. They nerfed Diamond skin for a reason and AR for a reason. I’m really not sure why they brought condition immunity back when ele and Engi where denied it.
Bad idea with such Resist WvW will be ruined yes we have other game modes not only spvp) Condi dmg is better in comparission to direct bcs if you stun power build user u get 0 dmg, but if you stun condi user condis will still do dmg so thats why Resist>Protection.

First of all on wvw not War is the source of Resistance))) so if anet nerfs Resist as TS wants then we will se at WvW conditrains and this is not healthy for wvw. In 5v5 its easier to deal with condis.
Personally, I think resistance is too binary (0=stripped, instantly dead, 1=completely unimpeded, worry about nothing)
I think it’d be a very positive change for resistance to only affect damage taken by conditions, but all impairing effects won’t be ignored. It’d at least be more in line with damage ignoring skills such as Signet of Stone and Endure Pain.
Bleeding, Poison damage, Burning, Confusion, Torment, Fear damage, all countered by resistance.
Cripple, Poison heal debuff, Weakness, Chill, Vulnerability, Fear, Blindness, these effects all taking effect despite the presence of Resistance.
Resistance mitigating 100% of incoming damage, this could easily be nerfed too, but I feel the general availability of the boon would have to be buffed, should the effectiveness get nerfed.
Overall, I’m sure GW2 players in WvW and PvP alike are frustrated by how game changing a single boon is when it’s either on high base uptime, affected by high boon duration, or shared between zergs.
Personally I’d be happiest if Resistance became balanced around being the counterpart to protection (nerfed) and in turn, deserving core utilities & trait lines were entrusted as new sources of resistance, to promote build diversity.
Edit: things like healing signet active, and Mallyx legends would have to be compensated, but that’s relatively small potatoes.
