Can someone explain how these work in free tPvP and paid tPvP? I could not figure it out in the few games I played today
From patch notes:
“Free and paid tournaments will now use individual respawn timers. Public games played via the PvP Browser will still use time-based wave spawning.”
If you die at certain intervals (not downed state) you get a longer respawn timer. If you are capped on 59 39 and 19 seconds you get a full respawn timer so if multiple people within the same 20 seconds they come back in a ‘wave’. People abused this in high level tournament play giving people ridiculously long respawn timers by prolonging their useless downstate and then starting to stomp them at 1 21 and 41 seconds. Test it out with a friend on an empty server and you’ll see what I mean.
I’m not sure what the how the timer works in tpvp now but it seems to be 20 seconds on the majority of deaths but don’t quote me =p
I’m surprised they didn’t do this sooner. FPS like Battlefield got rid of the “wave spawning” because it really didn’t do anything to encourage team-play…which it was meant to.
Individual respawn timers are better and less frustrating as they take away the randomness of wave spawn timers.
i dont believe this was fixed for tpvp or paids even though it was stated in the patch notes, but someone could correct me
I didnt see any difference.
Afaik, we still have a kind of “wave” respawn timer. Just died at 38 and had to wait till 18 in a free tournament.
