Retal Ninja Nerf in SPvP? Devs pls look
I noticed the same thing a while ago. Nobody had any idea. All I know from asking around was that it used to do normal damage in sPvP (e.g. the same in PvE), but when it changed I have no idea.

I’m definitely biased as a guard main, but a lot of builds don’t have that much retal, and even less people use retal intelligently.
Retal and confusion are a way to punish bad players…. That is really it… Confusion hits with the force equivalent to a wet noodle in PvP and retal requires ALOT of hits to successfully down a player. The only good retal builds are the mes bunker retal (immortal build) and that is about it… bunker guards get it some what but the real kicker for them is spreading it to their teammates… Any AOE from an enemy will down that enemy… And it is just a good counter… When one thing mitigates another it is not OP nor EZ mode especially if you can’t get a full retal up time.

What’s funny is they are actually more active than other damage sources as they depend on the action of the enemy and the player… Bleed apply and forget… Confusion apply and hope they try to use a skill… Retal apply and hope you get hit…

I think that retail and confusion are a way for bad players to do damage: “oh let’s stand here and wait other ppl kill themselves”.
They are broken mechaninc that should be totally removed from the game.

Who’s worse? The guy who runs confusion/retal or the guy who just bloody killed himself?
If you run up to someone blindly spamming you attacks without checking your opponents buffs/your conditions, you deserve to die.
Have you ever played oblivion? If so, then you’ll agree any kind of reflect damage is completely kitten Bethesda was smart enough to remove reflect from skyrim.
Confusion and Retaliation hit you even if you are invulnerable. Maybe picking up on that would be best. Or maybe reducing the damage, idk.
Retal I don’t think should hit when you are invuln but being invuln doesn’t stop you from taking damage from the conditions you already have… Hence why confusion still ticks….and @ Dancing Face how is confusion different from bleeding? Burning? They do damage no matter what confusion needs a player to do something to die… If you die to 10 stacks of confusion or even a team of mesmsers/engis/necros (corrupt boon) that get you all sorts of confused you are going to die unless you either A) Run Away Clear the condition… I mean how hard can that one be… The only class that couldn’t reliably clear it with out using a specific skill is mesmers…
