Guild Wars 2

Hello,
I quit playing the game completely a little bit after the expansion. I played 90% for the PvP, ESL, AG tournaments, etc, we didn’t even have ranked ladders like we have now back then.

But the meta was complete aids, and I lost interest, a bunch of mongoloides running super bunky condi and trying to outsustain each other and slowly kill you with condi.
But I see that it has changed now, back to the good ol’ days of burst wars, where condi is still super strong, so that’s nice.

Though I have noticed that the game died out A LOT, Gw2 used to be like the 2nd most popular MMO right after WoW, but now it’s…. Pretty empty, which is still a ton of people playing 24/7, just less compared to what it used to be.

But my question is : In all honesty, is it worth, is it fun to play the game PvP wise currently? Please no generic answer like > Anet no care for pvp, pvp bad. Would really appreciate something constructive.

Depends which classes you like to play or style

My main was always teef, but I played it all expect for necro, engi and ele

Thief is in a pretty good spot, ele is mostly just support, mesmer is burst condi, etc. All in all pvp isn’t too bad, you’ll just find new amulets and others have been removed. Not many builds now(two for some classes one for others) so won’t take you long to find what each is gonna bring.

Thief is quite useless in PvP compared to others calsses nowdays, in WvW still fun, but Anet really working on it to lose its fun to play feeling.

Well, since fun is subjective, I can’t give you any info on how fun the game is, but I can say that it is much better than it was in the first 2 seasons of PvP. It’s still nowhere near as fun as it was pre-HoT (for me at least) as only 1-2 builds are viable per class. My problem with the game currently is that the builds I enjoy playing are simply trash and it feels horrible to put yourself at such a disadvantage just to have some fun.
There are lots of ppl saying thief is bad, but in reality good thieves are actually much more impactful than they were pre-HoT (at least I feel that way). Decapping is so strong against heavy bunker builds. Most people just don’t know how to play them properly and when to simply leave the losing teamfight and decap the enemy point.

Imo, wait until the new season arrives and then jump in and play some PvP. You’ll quickly see if you enjoy it or not.
