Of course it’s a provocation, but i’m pretty sure topic like that will pop up after the HoT Release

Basically It seems a thief initiative mechanic improved and moved to utility instead of weapons skill + unique mechanics.

We don’t see the entire utility and weapons but there are already things really interesting like anti-projectile skill and a new way to manage conditions (it seems really strong).

BTW in general my only hope is linked to Balance Frequency it will be very important after the HoT release to give us a decent general balance.

In general i think this new prof will be a must.

I share your hope of more frequent balance updates. The revenant seems cool so far, I just hope they implement everything in a balanced way. Mallyx stance + resistance makes it look like they’ll be near immune to conditions, let’s hope that’s not the case.

That’s the #1 thing everyone is waiting for, more frequent and accurate balance patches. I’m not worried about the class power just how it will not takes another’s place and the new meta in the 3 modes as well as specializations.

They make it sound very snazzy and impressive, but if you think about it they are just describing your average GW2 class. All of them have unique mechanics like this, just different.

Well having access to the heal skill 2x in a row might be OP as anything. I’m sure not only revenant, but also some other specializations will be broken at release, while others will be completely unviable.

I don’t like that the new shiny stuff is only on specializations, that could imply that existing professions will be a hell of a lot weaker then the new ones. I mean c’mon, a ranger possibly geting resistance (for instance), and what in the base ranger prof heh? Nothing to interesting condi removal wise. Wich will mean druid is must have prof. I really hope i’m wrong about this, but feels this way.

Or it will be, new spec = op for month, then they over nerf it, and old ones take over. We’ll see.

Revanant almost has warrior status stats (just a bit lower hp), so in essence a revenant cannot be made as strong as an elementalist (skill wise). Cause if you make revenant, stronger then ele, mesmer, necro, then they are essentially op, with their hitpoint/armor to back it up. Something to keep in mind.

Legendary weapons can be hidden now!
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.

If you’re thinking solo then yea, you’ll probably need the new specs to generate these new boons but if you have a team, there should be a couple of people in the new Specs who can generate these boons and conditions for the team.

The old profs shouldn’t die due to the new specs. They will probably die for a few months though, where every player and their keyboard will be screaming nerf this or that.

of course it will be op…this is by marketing definition….of course it will be nerfed…but it will take more than 2 patchs to bring them in line with others….

This means more than 1.5 year of opness. (balance patch every 6 months)

IMO from what I’ve seen in the blog post, Revenant will be a pain to balance in PvP. I just hope they don’t come out OP. And I can see the Celestial Amule already be able to work with the class very well …

I don’t know wich the focus of balancing will be after the new class and new mode is released, but I fear for unstable days. Oh and don’t think balance patches with a new mode and class will work every 6 months because they will not. Better start working on faster balance patchs i you don’t want to broke PvP more than it is (I think it is more balanced than ever before, I fear this balance will go away)

Indeed, a lot of people won’t admit it but, all the classes are seeing some play in some form. That’s very cool compared to what was happening before.

I can’t wait to spam two heals in a row with the Revenant or have 4 stun breaks, just cause.

This is just a hunch, and I very well may be wrong, but I have a feeling they’ll build it and hype it up to be very cool and look OP, then nerf it a LOT just before release in sweeping passes, and I actually fear it’ll end up a bit weak compared to some of the more veteran classes when they get specializations, especially until people get a full grasp of the class and can provide realistic feedback.

Could be wrong, but we’ll see. I think its WAY too early, regardless to just assume it’ll be OP… Things people think will be OP as it stands might actually end up being a problem with the class in the long run. Like 2 heals? Chances are they won’t just rock two heals. Both will probably be weak to compensate, so they might not do well under pressure.

Just my two cents. Wait until we have more information before assuming it’ll be a problem. I also sort of hope they are JUST a bit UP on release to prevent a gross mass FOTM reroll…

Those 3 classes dominate the meta because they bring team support that is vital to the survival of every other class in a teamfight, while not being as useless as a bunker guard. I see this as a positive because as long as you stack 2-3 celes, the other two classes can be ANYTHING. Thus, every class has a role and is viable.

So your saying that those 3 classes are required, but the game is balanced because then you can bring any other class. That’s very funny. Engi, Ele, Warrior > other 5 classes clearly. Those classes are more diverse than all the other ones. That isn’t balanced. Eles have 3 high level pvp builds, necros and rangers barely have one. That isn’t balanced. They can do better. They still need to make every classes bad utilities, weapons, and traits much much better.

As for the thread topic, the class isn’t even out yet. It is kind of fun to hypothesize, but worrying about a class that hasn’t even been released, or at least beta tested by the community, is a waste of time.

So we got more info on the Revee today and it seems they are one heck of a tough customer. 100% projectile Hammer auto-attack, almost perma dark field, Stability on dodge trait, Master of Torment stacking etc etc.

But even with all that, the most shocking thing to me is the changes to Stability. Stability now stacks in intensity rather than duration. This means that Stand your ground may now give 3 stacks of Stab for 5s instead of 8s of Stab. And every time you get CC’ed, a stack is removed.

I like the sound of thischange but they also didn’t say how conversion skills interact with the stacks. Will skills like Corrupt Boon remove all stacks or just one stack? Something to ask them at PAX or EGX I guess.

We don’t know many stacks stability will give, so speculating about it is pointless. I also think that we might get some changes this tuesdays (feb 24) since they are taking away stuff.

I will say that the new changes MIGHT benefit good players and punish players who used stability as a get out of jay free card or clutch.

I saw this change and suggested it after seeing it work like this in Wildstar. Not to praise the game, but for stability effects, it’s a good direction.

currently my guild can routinely wipe groups up to 3 times their size, when said group will only need to put down 1 million statics/lines and we won’t have any way to negate that it won’t be possible anymore.

stability stacking intensity just favors who can stack the most cc = the larger side.

currently my guild can routinely wipe groups up to 3 times their size, when said group will only need to put down 1 million statics/lines and we won’t have any way to negate that it won’t be possible anymore.

Which will reduce open Zerg v Zerg combat and make siege weapons and capping forts more important but maybe keep WvW issues with WvW thread.

But that really depends on which character you’re playing. Only Wars and Guards truly spam stability so they would be affected the most. The rest of us get 100 to 0-ed already.
I think supporting your teammate as a Guardian will definitely be more difficult now though.
