Can’t imagine what should be given for stealing from a revenant though. Probably something that grants resistance, imo.

The steal is something from the class, rather than something that counter.

Consume plasma gives you stab to deal with mesmer interrupts, which were prepatch their only way to prolong the invetable hard counter of that matchup.

Healing seed gives condition removal, which is good against those cheeky trap rangers.

Whirling axe lets you spin to win, which lets be honest, is really fun, and throw gunk, is well…. gunk.

Throw gunk is really nice if you manage to get stun/immob off on engi and land it on them. Also it grants chaos armor and allows you to stack confusion on engi. Given how engis weak to condis it can be pretty nice against them and also discourages them to sit on one spot spamming nades. Only downside is that throw gunk reveals you instantly.

Consume plasma is hands down best stolen spell possible and probably only reason why fighting mesmers on thief atm is somehow managable. Stab/aegis/protection helps A LOT vs instant burst (with lockdown and no tell, honestly devs wth is wrong with you) from mes. Missing steal on mes and not having plasma REALLY HURTS thief atm.

Healing seed is great vs condi rangers as well as vs any ranger using fear from worlf, entangle etc. HS through healing seed allows you to put pressure on ranger while healing yourself at the same time. Also it is gives thieves great team support. Extra water field with constant condi removal on point in mid fight is awesome. I saved countless teammates with it.

Whirling axe works really wel vs LB/rifle/condi sword wars as you can reflect their crap back at them. It is also great dmg pressure and works wonders vs any melee war (GS, hammer) if you combine it with BP – you can basically perma blind war if he is dumb enough to sit close to you. The downside is that spell is bugged, you can’t cancel it and only way to leave it prematurely is to use dodge except that dodge doesn’t have evade frame and simply uses up endurance leaving you pretty vulnerable during dodge animation.

Every stolen spell (besides plasma) by itself may not be amazing but, like any spell on thief, if you combine it with other spells and use them wisely they are actually helpful (besides ice stab atm because Anet decided to give eles passive brainless condi cleanse outside of water thus killing any counterplay vs eles).

As far as stolen spell from revenants goes: their biggest weakness is hard CC. I think stolen spell should be some kind of CC that revenants have.

its hard come up with something because what counters rev depends on what legends they have malix is standard for spvp and wvw so cond is useless stun break on legend swap is standard too so its hard to come up with something that works for every thing is hard cc that you cant stun break would be got or some spike would be nice

It should be something against energy regeneration, i know it’s only for Revenant but energy is everything for Revenant.

But considering the actual state of energy regeneration and the high cost spread across utility, elite and weapon skills probably it would be too heavy for revenant, right now.

It would make sense if Anet buffed energy regeneration so some anti energy counter would be interesting.

Revenant has options to every situation, but dies rapidly to super hard engages. Very consistently on that. You just have to recognize what stance they are in.
Ventari- Heal support
Dragon- boon support/condi support
Shiro- assassination/stick
Mallyx- displacement/condi bomber/condi surviver
Dwarf- unknown. it does something, but I honestly don’t know. its the one I didn’t use
Sword- damage, range, pierce, evade, block, control
Mace- condi
Axe- gapclose, control
Hammer- range, high damage, projectile deflect
Staff- melee beater

Tons of things to survive light engagements and to reflect damage if you back off for any length of time. Stolen item would have to be a way to get in and be impossible for them to get off. Unfortunately, the only thing I can think of sounds stupid op.

[insert name involving mist]:
Charge at target unit, shadow stepping and apply high damage. Stun on impact, gain might stability and protection (5 might, 2 stab, 3 sec prot). This skill is unblockable and cannot be evaded.
Damage= Larcenous Strike (the Sword 3, part 2)
Range= 600
Cast time 1/4 second
Stun time 1/4 second
Evade: until you hit target

Worst Thief in the world, yes I am.

1-2s mist form sounds good to me. Lots of uses not just against revenant and would easily make them a high quality steal.

I also like Maugetarr’s suggestion of a teleport to thief, say 600 range to start with a view to buffing it to 1500 once thieves complain it’s not a brain dead iWin button.
