Revert Diamond Skin. Condi shouldn't win.

Yea lets just completely remove a build variant from the game because you can’t counter it.
TBH welcome to a balanced trait… it’s just like Guardian’s Hunter’s Fortification trait except your trait is a hair better.
And what condi classes are killing you…?

Actually it isn’t balanced for an ele. The low health and Def make an on hit trait for removal almost useless. As exactly how many hits does it take to take an ele down? If you’re going to compare it to Guardian you also have to take in how much health and armor the guard has

Diamond Skin is now better designed than it was. This does not mean it’s good. It’s fairly weak, really, but it could be made better simply by letting it cleanse a condition on the same strike that applies said condition. No change to the tooltip, but it would be better.
That said, I think the way they chose to change the trait was one of their worst options.

I can agree to that.

Why simply dont go in the original way they said :
*clean a condition every second when you have more than 75%hp"
I think in this metà it will be perfectly balanced
I was fine with that when it was said in the preview as were the other ele I talked to
As per title. Revert Diamond skin to immunity to condi above 80%HP
Condi classes shouldn’t have a chance against us.
We were born to keep them in check.
Removing the only gatekeeper against condi builds is just going to let condi fester.
Which is a bad thing.
Power is way more decisive and a real test of skills.
So what you’re saying is:
Power is way more decisive and a real test of skill, therefore give ele immunity to condi’s so they don’t have to worry about them, and let them run the old cele ammy which is a mix of both power and condi, so they can spam their hundred hits and own thoughtless condi spam application for maximum profit.
Seems legit XD
They should completely rebalance conditions and condition cleanse/immunity.
It should be like direct damage: you should mitigate it, not negate it. Condi cleanse and resistance make conditions absolutely unbalance-able: they are either OP or irrelevant.

Let me just call you out on some BS right there. Guard and Ele share the same hp pool. The only difference is armor. Something condis ignore.
Diamond skin is no solution.
Imo the engi treatment by giving them something like adaptive amor would be adequate. It lowers the condi pressure but they can still fall to condi damage. And since its ele give them a celestial stat bonus when struck. Lazy change but it works.
it could be made better simply by letting it cleanse a condition on the same strike that applies said condition.
it…does
at least in pve
harder to test in pvp
but yeah, the topic creator is obviously kidding. I’m amused that people are replying seriously

Really? I haven’t tested it myself, but when I asked, eles said that it wouldn’t cleanse anything until a second had passed.

yeah, a hit that applies 1 condition and doesn’t bring you below 75% won’t apply anything. as long as the cooldown is respected, of course

The current iteration of diamond skin is fine, not changes required. As it stands, the trait is quite efficient with the right build and knowledge of the class and I’d like to leave it like that. More eles, I believe will come up with something similar to what I’m running and when that happen the true strengths of the trait will be revealed.
It’s useful where it needs to be and it shows its weaknesses again where it needs to; the reaper or any other condi class for that regard still cannot be considered a hardcounter
Boon Corrupt? A pressured necro won’t use scepter 1 for more than few secs and it won’t do much for him anyway, the rest you can predict and dodge.
Really no buffs are necessary to condi clear on ele, with enough kiting and dmg, the current amount of condi clear is more than enough..anymore and ele nerf threads will pop out again
Immune over 80%? Yea, only if I am immune to power damage over 80% health..
They just need to update and tweak core old mechanics and numbers so that they are up to par with this elite spec era. I dont see why ele has to relay on a good amu to be viable, anet has to update eles health pool to medium. Same with scepter, it has to many outdated abilities, and the shatterstone ‘buff’ just reflect the current inability to comprehend.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
Let me tell you something as a necro main..Do you know how infuriating it was for ele’s to not just be able to be immune to not only your damaging conditions but also your CC condi’s….like when you had a fear mark down and they just walked it over like nothing happened without having to dodge over it, pfft. I’ve got about 2k hours on my necro and have played since launch on mostly necro, since I fell in love with the whole theme even though we were always considered UP. I just can’t really have much remorse for ele’s atm since the bunker meta was just so boring. I rather get rekt by a thief over and over than deal with that nonsense again.
Fair enough, Supreme. I rarely play ele, so my ability to theorycraft with them is a bit limited.
Honestly I HATE the new diamond skin. I agree it could be toned down but not like it is now. It wasn’t game breaking before as it was easy to break and now it’s just pathetic
The new diamond skin is very strong, its just that other stuff in the ele dept needs to be updated to be on par with the powercreep elite spec shenanigans we have atm, such as the low health pool eles have which makes it harder to take adv of DS. Or instead of giving more health pool, fix some other stuff so the class stays unique in its risk playstyle
