Revert PvP Icons
This so much.
I think the previous ones were a huge improvement over the originals (I, II, III, etc) and were uniquely identifiable and well made. These newest ones with the update are just too uniform (only changing in color with a barely visible “tick” for each tier)

The new icons are honestly just bland and disgusting. Like who even comes up with this crap. Who thought the old icons were confusing and hard to distinguish? It makes no sense. Not to mention how lazily they implemented it. They decided to keep the last season icons in the pvp menu even. The old icons looked amazing and you could tell who was what class easily. Right now all the prestige of being a plat seems washed away by a kittenty icon that resembles a 2 yr old’s art project. smh
Yeah, changes like this should be voted on during live streams or something.
the original ones would look best but at least the second set of icons wasnt that bad, these are just horrible
maybe someone is kind to take a screenshot? sitting at work w/o acces to tyria..
I have to agree.
The new icons are with all due respect horrible and I have no idea why there was any change in design in the first place, the ones we had until now were much better.
prob its just sudden change… and the last ones will come back, cuz i dont believe those designs were intended
Yeah if this is intended it is a very bad decision indeed. I would love to see them changed back. The old designs were great.

Agree completely, the previous icons were much better. I’m considering turning off my badge purely for aesthetic reasons now.
Agree with you. New PvP icons look really bad.
+1, revert this please.
agreed, these are terrible compared to the previous ones.
there was no need for another icon change, no one ever complained about it. please revert to the old, superior, design.
+1, this is the first time I had to turn off my badge. It’s just repulsive, I’ll spare others from looking at it.
These are just getting worse and worse. What if they have zero direction, no design lead in charge of PvP, and they are just messing around with random stuff all day pretending to work..? Here’s the result.
This is the most pointless change I’ve ever seen.
Badmash [bM]
Furious Cookies [FURY]
They look like they were made in MSPaint lul
I appreciate the previous art, whoever decided to ‘update’ the PvP badges with this latest style – shame on you! Revert them back, please.
Just revert please

These new icons look terrible and a step back in the art department. I’d prefer the original icons but at least can you revert them back?
+1 to this

They (kinda) listened to necro VP nerf complaints, so lets hope they listen to this too.
These really look just bad. Why would you try to get legend anymore if they all look bad.

I think the old badges were so beautiful and I’m so sad to see the new badges around.
+1 to that
Normally I’m not one to care about such trivial changes but what the hell Anet. You keep changing the division icons for no reason and they are just getting worse.
Revert them please.

I agree, I still love the first ones more.
The second (last ones) were.. meh, not that bad.
But now.. Oh god
I strongly agree the new badges are painful to look at.
Please revert/rework.

The idea behind the new icons was that we weren’t pleased with the readability of the old ones. As others have noted, you had to already know what the rank art looked like to know whether someone had achieved a higher or lower rank.
That being said, considering the feedback, we’ll revert them.

Consider a stronger color for the readability but keep the intricate design.

I’ll get you a Cookie or two next time when someone starts whining that Devs don’t read Forums.
As one of few, I actually liked the new ones better because of their clearer shapes. I’m okay with the old ones too though, it’s just a small thing.

I too found the icons rather bland and I’ll be honest—it was harder to distinguish the new icons to their ratings compared to the old ones.
I thought the blue one was for platinum, and the bronze one was for gold players. Then I noticed the “pips” on the sides of the icons which showed the status of the ratings. Problem is I still don’t think newer players would be able to differentiate them.
I think newer players always had a hunch that legendary rating was really good prior to the change, because people have asked what my rating was when I wore the legendary badge.
Additionally I’ve even had people in PvE blatantly say things like “what’s a leg doing here” or “grats on the leg” etc, and those people themselves didn’t appear to have any badges or anything. I mean it’s easier to know what the ratings look like by going into the PvP panel and seeing all the icons right there.
the new ones is so ugly, i even was thinking it was a bug or corruption on client files.
The problem with the original set of icons was that they were hardly distinguishable. They revamped them and the result was much better. Easily recognizable and artistically good too. The new ones, while easily recognizable, they were bland and boring and not even a good representative of their respective division title (platinum being purple hardly works).
Although the good news is that they have already reverted them today.
For artist’s notes, IMO the problem with the newest set of badges is that they were just too similar. The most noticeable color on each badge was actually completely unrelated to the division name, and was really the secondary color of the division emblems. Furthermore, for the primary colors, metal colors just… aren’t terribly distinct. And when you take in various location-based color filters, the subtle difference on the few available pixels can become even more ambiguous.
And I think character design can apply even to little symbols; the silhouettes of the new emblems were almost all completlely identical, moreso than the previous(now current) set. I know you don’t have much room to work with, but the thing about the second emblem set is that you can at least make out the basic shape of the core of the emblem without discerning colors; bronze is largely solid, silver is an empty core, gold is a hexagon with a little star, platinum is more of a diamond. Legend could perhaps use another look; it looks like a slightly off color bronze at a glance, sharing similar colors and not having a terribly distinct shape. It perhaps could use something a little better, something that catches the eye, worthy of those who are in the highest league division.
As for the argument that the second generation required familiarity with the divison art, I don’t really see how the third generation was an improvement since it was an even more arbitrary mapping to rank. I would see that if you had actually mapped them to, say, item rarity colors – a color all players can relate to – but instead they just came off as fairly randomly chosen, and lacking the character and prestige one would expect for what should be a point of pride for those who display them.
Following that advice, if you choose to reexamine the emblems, I think redoing the colors so that they map to items would be a better starting point: Fine on Bronze, Masterwork on Silver, Rare on Gold, Exotic on Platinum, and Ascended/Legendary(ascended would “pop” better) for, well, Legendary. Ignore Basic, it’s too bright for what should be 0th tier.
BUT I do like the second generation/current emblems, to be clear.

if it’s about readability, why don’t you put the first gem-like badges back in then? or make a metal version of them instead of amber etc.
Thanks for listening. You guys did such a good job with the previous set of icons, that’s why there was such a fuss.
I think what they wanted was to show the tiers with how many pips were on the side.
I like 8-bit art and all my characters look the same (omg why) so I don’t mind the change, but I have a fairly strong hunch robots like me are in the minority for this one.

I like this suggestion. Using the colors of fine, mastercraft, rare, exotic and ascended is something peoplw are already familiar with and would translate easily into the emblems.

What kind of feedback did you get for 2 days between release and removal? (Europe lost one day of release)
I did not even have time to look at them properly
The new icons are gorgeous. Current thick and fatty
