done by now.”
I don’t PvP much, maybe a match every few days when the PvE dailies are unreasonable, but I was chugging along on the Wintersday reward track. I log in today and it seems to be gone, and all the progress I put into it seems to have vanished. What is the point of these reward tracks if they can just negate your progress in them?
It’s gone, but the progress is still there. You can continue next year where you left it at.
Well yeah, but having to wait what would likely be three years to clean out the track seems unreasonable. I should be able to continue progressing it until I hit the end.
Consider it the same way as the Winter’s Day achievements etc.
Content is no longer there so neither are the rewards.
It is temporary festive content. The other reward tracks do not act in this same manner – though the dungeon reward tracks do rotate I believe
If you’re played a dungeon in story mode, that dungeon’s track is unlocked (permanently) in PvP. If it has a timer (something like “x amount of time remaining”) it’s only temporarily available until you complete the dungeon in story mode.
I’m sorry you weren’t aware the Wintersday track would disappear with the patch. I’d like to see a timer on seasonal tracks as well, so people new to the system don’t get an unpleasant surprise. Or at least some indication that the track is seasonal/temporary.

Yeah, but those achievements could be knocked out in a day or two, it was a rapidly repeating cycle. The PvP reward track would take dozens of rounds to complete.
I thought it was pretty common sense, tbh.
By your own admission you’re a very casual PvPer. The Wintersday track could be completed in a day by someone who plays the game mode as their primary means of playing. It’d be like me complaining that I never finished all the PvE Wintersday achievements despite only playing PvE for 10 minutes every several days, then being surprised they were no longer available when the Wintersday event was over.

But that’s my point, you can complete all of them in FAR less time and effort. I completed all of mine within the first few days, probably only putting a couple hours into it total, and investing far less attention to the task than an equal amount of PvP matches would take.
If the track was meant to be temporary, then it should have been completable in far less time. If someone is a dedicated PvPer who thus completes it in a day or two, then he can repeat it, or jump to some other track.
Again, it makes sense to only be able to start the Wintersday track during the event, but once started you should be able to continue it to completion, especially since it would require no" Wintersday" content to remain active in the game (as opposed to say trying to complete the Tixx Lab content after the patch ended), since progressing the Wintersday path is mechanically no different than any other path, it’s just “keep playing PvP.”
“Keep playing PvP and get items which aren’t in the game during this time of the year”? Sure…
I still don’t see the problem tbh, or maybe i simply don’t agree there is a problem. The way they did it makes perfect sense to me
Wintersday track is during Wintersday, simple as that.
I would also disagree that “completing” Wintersday PvE achievments is faster. Depends on what you mean by complete I guess. If you don’t count the “infinite” achies sure. If you do, that’s much more time than the reward track.
I know my advice is no good now, but if you did the Daily class winner achies, meaning 1 match per day (if won), you could have done it under 10 days.

You can’t “complete” the infinite ones. The fair point of comparison would be the Wintersday meta, which required you to do like 75% of the available options and you got a mini-Skritt for it. That was fairly effortless to earn.
Again, I’m not saying you should be able to keep doing the Wintersday track over and over as long as you like, I’m saying that if you started it, you should be able to complete it ONCE.
I’m really not understanding the pushback on this, what is your agenda?
From what I understand, you are too slow to complete the Wintersday track and now complain that ANet puts a timer on it. Every one else sees no problems but you. My opinion is to try finishing your seasonal track within the time frame.
It has been this way since the beginning of time. Content is removed from the game and therefore you cannot finish it; because it is not there. Same with Halloween and every holiday before that. The holiday ends, ALL content is removed.
