What’s the most ridiculous reasons you’ve had for being called a noob (from either team)?

From the enemy team:
Using heartseeker+steal to finish someone off behind a wall (“omg stealth noob”, continuted to whisper me about how stealth is OP even though I didn’t use stealth)
Using trebuchet for half the match (they didn’t dodge a single shot)

From my own team:
Defending my decision not to lord rush 2 minutes into the game after losing the initial team fight (lol we need more score noob)
Stealing an enemy NPC and killing the person who attacked it, then going down from conditions (omg noob you died to npc)
Saying to regroup on home rather than suiciding 1v3 mid (omg noobs why are you all at home and I’m the only one mid)
Dying before a match starts (I was just running around)
Jumping around in the base before match starts (people who jump are always noobs)

I’ve been playing Staff elementalist bunker for a year or so. Well before the patch. For some reason I’ve gotten more hate than ever before since the patch. I’ve been called PATHETIC for using a build that I’ve been using for awhile now. I asked politely what his reasoning was but of course, he doesn’t give me one and decides to block me. So I was called a n00b for just playing a class. Did I mention it was Staff Elementalist?

I’ve got this one a few times. Teammate dies in a giant AoE ball.

-“Thief WTF rezzzzzz”
You do realize that cleave/AoE would have downed me as well.. Right?
-“Yeah if you’re a noob!”

Same player respawns, doesn’t regroup, suicides into mid.
-“OMG ANET THX FOR MATCHING ME WITH COMPETE NUBS”

@ Drennon → that sounds like 50% of matches. Not usually directed at me, but still there is always that one guy who is complaining.

I’ve been called a noob for playing my burn guard both before and after the last patch. I at least tell people I’m straight condi now. Before patch I called myself hybrid, kind-of Medi Guard, or would simply respond with “I like to burn stuff” to avoid admitting I was condi and the grief that came afterward.

I’m always confused by people who call you a noob after you kill them, and it seems to happen a lot. Aren’t they just insulting themselves at that point?

My favorite was the first time I played Skyhammer. I didn’t understand how the Skyhammer worked, precisely, and even though my team had control, I avoided the AOE and then had to fight off of a guardian from the other team who got back to point before I did. When he died, he called me a noob. Which, fair enough. I was a noob.

Later on we were fighting on Point A and I used “Fear Me” to get him off my kitten for a second and he just…disappeared. I was so relieved that he was gone that I went on my merry way and promptly fell through the same hole in the floor that he had. While we were on the ground next to each other, waiting to respawn, his little chat bubble popped up:

noobs

The classic has to be totally destroying someone in a straight up 1v1 match and being called a noob because you beat them. I mean if I’m a noob what does that make them?

Also, being called a noob when I get +1d during a 1v1 that I was winning or stalemating anyway. I can’t help it if my teammate comes…

thats weird, there have been like 3-4 staff eles in the previous patches who were just good as d/d eles.

Getting called:
a fotm hambow when I ran condi s/s sb warrior
a skill-less pew pew ranger when ran a condi melee ranger build
a skill-less turreteer after dropping healing turret and supply crate. ran p/p 2kit rabid
a skill-less turreteer after dropping healing turret and supply crate. ran 2kit cele rifle
“wtf why is there a lvl 1 in our team”

These are only ones on top of my head. There were many more…

Yep same happened me when I entered as a staff ele. Although we won the match, and I was fairly well the guy still called me noob for playing staff and said that real eles play dd only in pvp. It was a vanilla daily match

I’ve been called a n00b for capping home and far points instead of running into the middle fight and being on a constant respawn train like the other 4 of my team members while taking out the one guy from the other team who was trying to uncap the too points I was defending.

Or running from 3 enemy players had having them chance me away from the point I just capped. And being told by my own team “fight on point n00b”

Or playing a team that was just better than my team, and having that one guy calling everyone a n00b and saying that he’s not died once, but everyone else on the team had, dew to being 2 maned at home point then the 3 in the middle getting taken out in a 3 vs 3 then 4 then 5 fight. Before the guy who was complaining ran from there home point back to out home(we where playing legacy)

I jump a lot at the beginning of the match when Im on my lvl 1 or 2. I can sense the hate eyes from my teammates

I jump a lot on the stomped lifeless body of my opponent when Im on my brown armored lvl 1 or 2. Angry PMs ensue

Most of my lvl 1 and 2s are Caucasian human males

People are judgmental, that makes doing stuff like this entertaining.

Got hate messages from BOTH my teammates and rivals for running around unranked with my spirit Guardians floating sword, hammer and shield.

I got “spam more noob” for heartseek spamming a guy to death as he tried to run and dodge after my initial backstab dropped him below 50% health (and a couple more while he was downed because of skill queuing after being a little overzealous with the button pressing) while he was laying there waiting to respawn.

Sad thing is, the word itself is being used in the wrong context most of the time. I have been working on my Ranger title, was using treb, got attacked by 2 players, while dying got called ‘noob’ and trash etc etc. I am surprised using the word noob is actually still a thing?
So as I lay dying I think to myself why are you calling me this? … I haven’t been annoying or not willing to learn anything more.. I am always willing to learn to get better so why use the term?’ Then it hit me … OOHHH you mean … newb ?..

Honestly I wish people would know the differences on the terms before ‘trying’ to insult someone when they are the ones that don’t even know the meaning of what they are actually saying cough
If they are going to insult someone on what class they are using or how they play, at least make it worth my while to read a good insult, but all I see in map chat these days are ‘’noob’

@ Drennon: I’ve never been on a EU server. I know in NA a few month ago the situation was a lot of worse. I don’t run into them as often as I use to, but they are there.

Lately I mostly get called “noob” for one of these reasons:

1. Being on a certain profession. (I play on all the professions and get this on all of them lol. It’s usually an enemy teammate that says it.)

2. Winning a fight. (The enemy rages by calling me “noob”)

3. Scoreboard scores.

All of which only serve to reflect badly on the one saying it lol.

Gotta love threads like these…
1. Being called a noob because you totally destroyed someone.

3. Not doing beast at start of niflhel.
4. For being a “PU mesmer” while the only stealth I had was decoy and I didn’t even used it the whole fight.
5. When I sent 250 pile of salt to a raging guy

The best reason is when you spend the entire game 1v2/3ing and then lose the game and some kitten on your team brags that they have the highest personal score after running between empty nodes or getting ferocity buffs or svanir kills or w/e at inopportune times.

When I queue with one of these Combat Healer/Champion Slayer bad boys…
