Right where last season left off...
What division were you in last season? If you ended up in the same place, then the system is working.
Given that you’re placed properly, then seeing a few blow-out matches during placement makes sense. There’s a soft reset of matchmaking rating (MMR) at the start of the season where your rating is brought closer to the average. You likely ran into blow-out matches during placement because your initial MMR was too high due to the soft reset.
The thing is, dozens of matches into last season, at least 80% of my matches were blowouts. To see a similar ratio in my first 10 this season doesn’t give me a lot of hope that playing more is a worthwhile endeavor.
I see 5 bad games,
If your team can legitimately score 300 it means that there were some match ups your team lost that could of been addressed. (hypothetically)
Literally 1-2 rotations or fights change 300-500 loss into a win.
I think a big issue with blow-outs in this game is the fact that we now have two easy snowball maps with the new Khylo in addition to Foefire. Another issue is that proper recoveries require communication and smart rotations that don’t add to the trickle-in that snowballs continue to eat up. That right there is very hard to pull off with random people. If we had “slower” maps, it probably wouldn’t be so bad to break the snowball.
sub 200 is a bad game, anything higher is just a rotation/fights problem.
Also the purpose of placement is to figure out where you belong. You can’t exactly do that without throwing some hardballs.

Not necessarly, there is also the case of what i would call " biaised matchs ", typically when you have one team with a very poor setup( i.e thief thief mesmer engineer) against a solid one ( guard guard warrior ele).
Several times, i do tell my teammates to take literraly 0 risk and play on 2 points, leaving the third to our opponents. The match usually ends into a 500-200/250, but if we try to be honest, it would be the same as a 500-20. This is fairly easily done on maps such as legacy of foefire or khylo, like Velimere said

No its not the same thing,
Last season there were multiple times were i was the best player on my team. (gold 3- plat 2 level) and i be solo que and the opposing team had 2 ESL level players, 2 players higher then me and 1 slightly below me. I had 3 matches like that were i took pics.
The score of those games were 500-50 or less and those could of easily been 500-0 had they known they were so much better.
In the OP screen shot he has very winnable games all over it. Not from a perspective of by himself changing the game but if 1-2 people who made a bad decision. Whether or not know it rotated some where else.
Like the guy who is soloing a beast when the team needs him at mid or home. Instead of spending 10-15 sec killing beast they could of gotten a rez or a stomp a team needed to turn the tide.
I can agree that the game has taken a turn for the worse with snowball effects since Anet gave every class more mobility for absolutely no reason.
But that is a different thread. Like i said earlier, if you can seriously score 300. Like it wasnt handed to you by the other team. If you could push points and win fights on caps you didnt own. You could of won the game had X things happened.
Wait wut… 6 wins 4 losses and you got into silver? I had 5 wins 5 losses and got into second or top of the first tier (can’t quite recall now) of gold. How did that happen?

Last season: Placements put me in Silver, got to Platinum at end of season
This season: Placements put me in Gold, will end in Plat again.
So Anet could say in s5 that I, “Improved along the season”…
So Anet in s6 could say, “You’ve improved since last season”…
Because, you know, I didn’t have any DC’s in my placememts this go round so I wouldn’t be placed lower.
But no, no, its never the system’s fault… everything is always working as intended… you belong where you belong. If you got placed in Silver and make Legendary, you just improved. Yup.
Rank: Top 250 since Season 2
#5 best gerdien in wurld
If you got placed in mid-high gold and finished low platinum last year, the system did work correctly; the soft-reset screws up ratings and prevents you from placing as high as you were last season. Basically because the people you’re playing against are also lower in rating due to the soft reset, the system places you based on those ratings. IMO soft reset should be removed or be less extreme (e.g. (2*rating + 1200)/3)
DCs during placement matches throwing off the result, especially in your first few is a different issue which needs to be addressed.
Don’t expect any changes with this, they seem to have issues with their pvp and instead of doing serious work on it just slap band aids on it and continue the spvp.
But it is doing more damage than good in the long run.

well he was tested off and around silver since that’s what he was last season he wasn’t Convincing enough to be ranked further up
you however got tested against platinum and around players unfortunately only 5 . 5 against them.. but that makes you better than silver…
