Instead the pips needed to go up a tier should be increased to 10. At least that give some chance for soloq peeps to progress without losing everything they earned

I agree. There is still repeatable Legendary to show difference between tryhards and the rest. Otherwise many players may just quit after reaching Ruby and Ranked will just dry.

Agree too. If you can make t2 and above you’re obviously good enough to reach them in the first place.

I also think future seasons need seeding, so if someone starts off in diamond they’d also be given the prizes from all the previous ranks and tier clearing.

Isn’t the basic idea of the system to help you find your “sweet spot” though? I mean pvp isn’t all about getting the wings and/or getting a rank. Most people pvp because they enjoy pvp and playing in a tier that you’re just not good enough for seems a bit counter productive to having a good time heh.

Edit: Forgive my ignorance on how the system works though since I don’t bother with ranked for the most part. I assume that amber players who queue get paired against other ambers etc. You don’t have games with a full diamond team vs full amber correct? So the idea being that if you’re diamond and queue you will get games against similar ranked players.

I assume that amber players who queue get paired against other ambers etc. You don’t have games with a full diamond team vs full amber correct? So the idea being that if you’re diamond and queue you will get games against similar ranked players.

You assume wrong, legendary players can play with ambers to get emerald opponents etc. It’s an incredible system.

Gaming the system isn’t really what I was talking about though. If a diamond play queues solo will it pair him with and against ambers? Not talking about legendary players grouping with ambers to get easier matches.

The point being that IF you’re diamond you will more times then not be playing against equalish rank right? If that is how it is suppose to work at least then losing rank is a must. Before you get a player who has his friends carry him to high ranks where he isn’t capable of playing on his own.

I don’t want EVERYONE to have this legendary (even though just about everyone who is “decent” or a revenant/bunker mesmer is going to get this legendary)

It nicely keeps the people with lucky win streaks out of diamond and legendary. If you are in ruby and you can maintain higher than 50% win ratio you will eventually get to diamond.

Seems to me leagues were meant for the player base at large and while the upper brackets were meant for very good to top players for sure, that doesn’t necessarily mean exclusively teams and groups.
Not to mention how farcical the entire system in its current iteration is anyways.

And now with even tiers in Legendary they having issues for not being a special snowflake. It’s a such clown show tbh.

I don’t play pvp anymore and i m not even whining about anything, it’s just hilarious to read those kind of posts. 10/10

“Unique rewards” does not refer to a legendary, could just mean things like the vial of salt. Tiers make it much harder for solo queuers of low tier and mmr to be matched against higher level teams, and you can’t argue that there are no new rewards that are reasonable attainable.

Atm, most of the times, i were stopped by.

MMR tankers, who afk for teh lulz.
Premades who are in voice, in the meta of rotations.
ESL try hard, who have nothing better to do then to que with ambers.

I can take my defeat but not in those scenarios.

Eh, unique rewards for PvP’ers is the cash grab for pro players. Normal people who just grind should get the backpiece. It’s no different than any other legendary in the game. I mean hell, it’s just a game.

The new system got people to play spvp, this is a good thing. What’s going to happen thou if they will hit a wall when they get to an mmr that gives them a 50/50 rating. Once they are no longer progressing they will go back to silver wastes.

I still think the spvp reward tracks do a better job of making people interested in spvp then leagues do, because even after you hit that wall you can still progress.


It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!

Yes, that is possible. Consequently, if an amber player queues solo, they may end up matched against a diamond one. All thanks to the wonders of MMR system used.

Also, notice how the matchmaking system will try to match you against equal players to get you to lose half of the taim regardless of what division you’re in. If there are no equal players? The system will compensate by pairing you with complete noobs. Again, regardless of your division.

As it is now, I’m probably not going to bother trying to rank further in ruby, which I will reach in 5 wins.
Now I don’t know what division I’m supposed to be in depending on my skill, but I know that the game will try to give me balanced matches no matter what division I am in.. and I can deal with 50% win chance in earlier divisions, but not when I have to get 30 wins (if I don’t lose anything) in order to advance. Then I want to fight people that are supposed to be on that tier so that if I’m good enough, I’ll have an easy time making it to the next or if I’m supposed to be there, that’s where my 50% win rate starts.

But they should (especially after the system is fixed to ensure you’ll only play with those of equal skill level and naturally progress as you yourself improve) because you’ll have armorsets that communicate you’re good at PvP. Maybe special dyes with cool effects reserved for people who clear legendary a couple of times?

Some rewards need to communicate, “I’m awesome!” instead of, “I could have been lucky or spent hours gathering to afford this stuff.” What would you rather have people think when they see you?

Imo lets be honest..there arent many hardcore soloq peeps (like me.. ruby almost t4 atm). Most people once hit ruby will stop playing pvp as they wont be capable of progressing futher. 50% mmr winrate doesnt work well with league “system”. I believe that 10 pips per tier is more than enough to show youre skilled. It at least gives illusion of progression for many people to keep playing. I except ques to be quite long soon when people elave emerald and sapphire.

I was referring primarily to the ‘leagues are for everyone’ (and should thus be accessible- being competitive can’t be tied to going in with a team) and ‘tournaments are for pro teams’ parts of the quote. If these so-called ‘grindy nubs’ you refer to (though I’d prefer, idk, ‘solo players’?) all lose interest because there is nothing to cater to them in game, then what do you think happens? Leagues were seemingly meant to do that, but someone somewhere dropped the ball.

I would make the following changes:

Amber & Emerald – Should not lose tiers or points. Yes, it is grindy, but that is a good thing. Get people playing and working their way up.

Sapphire & Ruby – Should not lose tiers but should lose points.

Diamond & Legendary – Should lose both tiers and points.
