Java mentioned a team running two Long Bow Warriors back in SOTG. People believe Java implied that PZ was the only guild that could beat The Silent Threesome, my guild.

This rumor however is not true. We’ve been beat by teams other than PZ such as ND, HHaL, QT and etc simply because of a few simple facts: we refused to use Elementalists and Mesmers in our team comps. More-so we also refused to use Trebuchets and Resurrection Signets and game changing skills such as Time Warp. We would literally run an all carry comp without peels + condition cleansing. All because we all felt like playing DMD (Dante Must Die) mode.

TL;DR PZ isn’t the only team that can beat my team. So long as you have factors such as Trebuchet, Elementalists, or Mesmer, you have it easy against us.

Lets not turn this into a Java bash thread pls, he brought up some good points about rally bugs and l2p issues. Java is a great player, arguably one of the most skilled players in the game. Hes a good guy for going on and representing our NA community in front of so many people and the devs. I guarantee most of us would be extremely intimidated to be in that position.

I dont know why Java was even invited to the state of game. He clearly has no idea how to play the game. A random PUG from EU could had done a better job.

1) Trolls Urgent over Healing Spring (See Point 3)

2) Sharpen Edges is not worth the trait point. Its 1 stack of bleed for 1 second only.

3) Shared Anguish over Vigorous Renewal (Pair it with Healing Spring for nearly 100% Vigor uptime)

3) Hide In Plain Sight over Off-Hand Training. Hide In Plain Sight is quite a useless skill, and torch is useless without Off-Hand Training. With Off-Hand Training trait, torch becomes one of the most powerful ranger weapons.

4) Trap Rangers are useless against current meta. Most teams run at least 2 eles. 3 eles are most common. You think that a trap ranger can do any condition damage against 3 eles?

5) Rabid Amulet over Shaman. Using Healing Spring with Vigorous Renewal and Shaman Amulet = OP Tank

6) Beastmaster Bunker Ranger is better build. It gives you better burst, more sustained damage, more tankablity while you are able to support other points by sending pet (Example send pet mid from side point to change Guardain VS Guardain to Guardain + Jaguar VS 1 Guardain)

1 Raven is a must but the 2nd pet is optional.

Personally I dont like White raven due to lower HP. I find Jaguar good to use stealth when helping 1v1s with pet so the enemy has no idea where is my pet

Agreed he brought up some good points , why people troll about folks on forums when they trying to make the game better really whats up with them ?

I like my BM build better.

Uhm, I’m by no means a pro ranger or w/e but how exactly are you going to do damage with that build? You got shaman but sword applies barely any conditions besides poison? OH dagger gives you 3 bleed stacks every 15seconds.. and a bit of poison and torch does a bit of burning. While relatively you have alot of condi dmg you barely apply them? And sword hits like a wet noodle w/o any power? Your pet does decent dmg but w/o the movement speed increase it’s not very reliable and you also miss put on the 30% more crit dmg which imo works well with both birds and jaguar. You’re more tanky, definitely, but your dmg must be really low? Wouldn’t soldiers/cleric be a better choice? Just wondering

Winter’s bite → raven’s burst ( 7 k damage on squishies)

Bonfire creates an AoE fire field dealing 5 k damage, throw torch deals 4.5 k damage over 6 secs , every 10 secs.

And your raven hits for 2 k with every attack ( and you have chills and cripples to let it hit, plus he grants AoE swiftness, so it’ll have swftness with a pretty good uptime).

BM rangers always run with a raven + personal choice ( someone picks the wolf for AoE fear / double interrupt on down), but i noted that my raven is stronger than 80 % of thieves out there as soon as they miss their burst.

I still don’t see why shaman is better? Wouldn’t cleric be alot better? Oh well, I’ll just try it out sometime but not 100% convinced yet. Really like traps though due AOE and preadvantage they can give.

With cleric you’ll hit like a wet noodle.

You lose 300 condi damage from Survival tree, plus you have no crit chance, so you’ll always deal blank damage.

It may be better for bunkering purposes, but you won’t bring anything down with it, plus you would lack a ranged option ( you would choose GS with cleric), and overall, a ranger is not a better “pure bunker” than a guardian or an ele.

With shaman you deal condi damage ( you have around 1k condi damage) and your pet deals direct damage: an opponent can’t be good against both.

BM bunkers can handle 2 opponents ( unless double burst , like shatter mesmer + thief which pretty much counter any possible bunker) for quite a long time, and is unkillable 1vs1, and will bring down even the tankiest opponent ( aside S/D bunker eles).

Guardians are no match for them, probably BM rangers are one of the few classes able to solo a guard on a point.

The thing is you got a lot of condition damage but you don’t have a good way of applying them. That’s why I thought go for cleric because it would scale better in dmg with the sword. My trap ranger can easily kill both bunker guardians as eles aswell but I want to switch builds because of all the qq about traps.

throw torch every 10 secs, bofire every 20, splitblade every 6 and crippling talon every 15 are not enough ?

Indeed they’re enough, especially when you apply burning with every attack after you have used bonfire ( and when you use monarch leap in it , applying fire aura on yourself).

I’m pretty sure java just wanted to say players need to try new things and new comps. So many great builds haven’t been touched yet but the majority of players are just following the meta. Be different plz like the longbow hero team

I’m sorry but don’t hate on a build and expecially the player. Their are reasons why he speced the way he did, just like their are reasons why you speced a certain way in that bm build.

I don’t normally run SoR with my BM Bunker build (everything else is fine pretty much, though I run Axe/Torch) I’d either be running Signet of the Hunt, or an Offensive Ability (in my case I run Pain Inverter in World vs World, but most of the Offensive abilities we have would work alright)

As for conditions with the Bunker Based build and how you don’t apply enough….

The Ranger Bunker build is able to apply conditions fairly often, and a lot of them.
While being tanky.

The Ways we do this is through Regenning Health, and swapping weapons often…

We regen health by using Shamans over Rabid, This will increase our main heal but also increase the effectiveness of Signet of the Wild. This is important, Not only does this increase your pets survivability it also increases yours. Having more precision is pointless because you’re not going to be spamming a bunch of high damage attacks on the target…If you’re playing i right, You will very rarely be auto attacking (Unless you’re Shortbow Bunkering which I personally don’t do)

Now what conditions can we apply as a Bunker ranger?

We have Torch Throw – a Massive Burn on a fairly short cooldown, Offhand Training makes this one of the best attacks in the game that we have.

Bonfire for Point Negation (and can be used as a Combo field)

2 Low cooldown long duration Poisons from Sword

2 Bleeds Attacks from our weapons (a 5 stack and a 3 Stack)

Weakness/Chill from Axe

Now based on the current sigil sets in the game, your options are limited in regards to what sigils will be effective with the Bunker build, We don’t have Precision, so any on Crit Sigils are completely useless, and we want to be swapping weapons often..only one sigil really ends up being a choice that is useful to us..And the Sigil of Geomancy, This is a PBAE 3 Bleed Stack everytime you swap weapons, This allows you to do a Split Blade (5 Bleed Stack), Weapon Swap (3 Bleed Stack), Dagger Throw (3 Bleed Stack) Combo…and it allows you to do if very often……

11 Bleed Stacks/high damage burn/long duration poison…That’s a lot of damage for a Condition Build.

However here is where the Bunker Ranger advantage really shines….We’re already tough, and we already have conditions..How do we improve our damage..

By adding burst, and the best way to do that is to add high damage burst pets, Ravens/owl/Jaguar for example…

This gives us very good burst despite being limited by having no precision/power in our build.

We’re basically a Hybrid Damage/Healer at this point..

That is the Strength of the BM Bunker build……It’s something a lot of us have been running for month’s now.. (you can go look through my post history)
