sorry i didnt post in a few days but these are my thoughts all in one since my leave.

1. custom arenas before 1 team v 1 team is a bad idea IMO. ppl dont pay for tickets so why will they pay for custom arenas? i will buy private arenas because we have multiple teams in the guild but why will others? 1 team v 1 team ranked would allow ppl to play competitvely all day right now. i figure that is what ppl want so should be priority 1.

2. ppl been on the forums stating they are the best at the game because noone beat them in 1 V 1. my opinion on that is guild wars 2 is a team game. to be great you need these.
a. basic skill and knowledge of your character and what to do in every situation against every different class.
b. no hero mode syndrome
c. rotations/map awareness and be vocal to help others with map awareness
d. 3 C’S calm,cool,calculated. (u cant freak out you need to stay calm to think)
e. clutch. (you need that it factor that quick wit thinking and put it into action)
im pretty sure this is everything i look for in a great player for this game so please look at all these then tell me what type of skilled player u are.

3. i am Still seeing post to nerf ppl. you ppl need to understand at high lvl gameplay when you are skilled everything is countered. what we need to do is fix all the bugs and exploits in the game and then check balance and after that adjust it as needed. i still prefare we buff more stuff to give more variety in game play.

4. AOE damage is fine lets practice coordinated game play before we resort to dumbing down the game.

5. ANET should be hearing what we say as a community not just listening. i think you should be asking us what to prioritize for the pvp part of the game. you keep saying your listening but i dont fell u hear us.

6. i think custom arenas should be free for the first month of them being out if you really do decide to put them out before 1 team v 1 team. this will bring the PVE ppl and WVW big guilds into pvp and give them a taste of it. my reasoning behind this is WVW is free so is PVE then we see we like it and we do it. You guys make paid cost money and now custom arenas to me it seems to be a big turn off. so please consider this even if its just for a month or 2 lets give them a taste.

7. we need a exploit report button for ppl exploiting or bugging the game. you guys are to “we dont care” about this problem. my team has been the only team that can honestly say we never exploited or bugged and we fell good and proud about it. but its now at the point in this game were i have recently seen ppl quit because they are tired of the immature kids. this needs to be something closely monitored and give us the chance to help you guys out by adding a exploit button.

9. i just heard 1 team v 1 team will only be on 1 map? i hope that is not true. you need to put all 5 maps on a random or vote type thing.

I can understand why you want 1v1 tournaments first but I think anet is making the right choice. I will be renting a arena for my guild [work] of sos to run skrims in without being interrupted, have duels or just hang out in while we wait for wvw que’s. I think a lot of the hardcore wvw guilds will grab at least one arena which means anet will finally have an actually significant income from pvp. As you said, no one really buys tickets. While 1v1 ques will help paid’s be run more often I really don’t see it solving other problems with spvp. Custom arena’s will allow 3rd party’s to host tournaments.

This a thousand times!!! Why do the sPVP community always have to have costs associated with their activity ???
I didn’t see any “buy Fractals with gems” in the cash shop! I didn’t see any “buy Clocktower puzzle with gems” in the cash shop! Why do we always have to have costs and why do you make it so hard for people to enter the sPVP community ?

It’s been 3 months! How don’t you get it already?! 25 Tournament Tickets for a new team to play Paid Tournaments is beyond incomprehensible, especially since there isn’t an ELO matchmaking system in place! Yes the players in Top 100-150 might be happy, but the rest aren’t!

Players want to PvP ( Player versus Player ) not PvGS( Player versus Gem Shop ).
Wake up and smell the failure of your ideas!

thats a very good question..
there is not matter if u play pve, wvw or pvp. all ppl bought that game. sure u can win gems. but whats about the ppl that farm gold to buy gems?
at least give the pvp-ppl a possibility to turn glory in gold and so gold in gems.
then all has the same possibility no matter what part of game they use. with an elo even paids isnt needed anymore.. no tickets no gemwins..

Paids in general are insulting, paying them money so you can pvp is a complete joke. All it has done is segregated the pvp community between those who arent mentally deficient, and those who are skilled enough to win the majority of the time. They also need more game types. Conquest alone is beyond boring; TDM, CTF, GvG etc are needed to make this game interesting. Right now its a joke to even be called a pvp game.

1v1 Team will be implemented on one map (Temple of the silent storm) and will pretty much be a winner stays on type idea. It will also be implemented without a rating system, so it will not be balanced fights. The 1v1 team is also going to require tournament tickets to join. I have heard a few people talking about the 1v1 team thing VERY excitedly until they find out what map they will be stuck on. No one likes Temple’s mechanic and the verticality of the entire map will make certain classes in high demand.

The rating system will only be implemented in free tournaments witch is a huge mistake. The only way to properly make it work (especially on NA, due to lack of population) is to place it in the 1v1 team system where it will have a sufficiently large drawing pool to match people properly. I am not saying that the system can’t work in the tournament system, I am saying the amount of players currently playing will just break the system and you will have something similar to what happened on SWTOR with the implementation of their rating system (5 teams on one server did PvP and not every night, so it was usually one team at 2300~ and everyone else and >1000). Create the system for the people that play the game not for hopeful aspirations in the future. This is not field of dreams.

Lol? Why would they nerf shatter? They’ve never even hinted at it, AOE nerfs most problably mean Necro/Ele, Even if they did nerf shatter, the new meta is actually a hybrid between shatter/phant.

When they fix Deceptive evasion, Illusionary Leap, THEN we should talk about nerfing shatter.

@ point 4. nerfing aoe is the opposite of dumbing down the game. Aoe takes less skill and focus fire coordination to win a team fight. Buffing aoe would dumb down the game, not nerfing it.

LAW OF UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES. The more barriers to entry you put up in terms of trying to monotize the system the more likely it is to fail. You need to help this game become popular in pvp, charging people doesnt help with this. find a way to allow the masses to compete please.

But as to the post, yeah some good ideas, but like all the other good ideas (some of them are nerfs and buffs as well), they will most likely fall on deaf ears. Between hotjoin, free, and paid are huge oceans of nothingness. Nothing is being done to address that.

PVE and WvWvW is awesome though, its where i have been going for the last week and its awesome. Just leave sPvP guys, its really not worth the anger and frustration.

i used to agree with that i thought AOE took less skill but then we started working on positioning and if done right u can completley shut down top necros and engis. i dont really know who else has much AOE but maybe dps staff ele. but i dont want those classes and builds punished because ppl dont want to position them selves correctly.

that is a good LAW im not sure why pvp didnt get them arrested for breaking it because there is a lot of barriers. (lol)

it does sound contradictory i will give you that but you cant say the pumpkin pie with cool whip is better then the apple pie because the apple pie was suppose to have vanilla icecream on it so its just as good. once the apple pie has the vanilla icecream on it and the pumpkin pie has the cool whip on it then you will see they are both good in there own way.

fix bugs and exploits first then we can see what buffs/nerfs classes need to be better. i just recommend going through all the traits and buffing the weaker ones so we have more a variety. JUST my opinion to what i think will be more fun. but once everything is fixed we can see if something really does need a nerf.

but before ANET does nerf stuff they should have top teams in a PTR like vain always asked for so we can test it.

Perhaps you’re refusing to understand that the majority, at least going by forum activity, find the whole “find 4 other people, build a team, practice with them constantly, be sure that personalities mesh, wait for 1-2 to rage out, look for replacements, practice with them more, repeat ad-nauseum” to be tedious and not nearly as enjoyable as working on your own skills, not being forced to rely on other people, and perhaps just enjoy PvP with a few friends (2v2, 3v3 play).

There’s a reason 5’s arena was the most tedious, un-fun and unpopular arena mode in the game that shall not be named as well. Besides for a large number of people what matters is how they place/rank skill-wise vs other people. Not who can get carried by 4 other coordinated players against people who play competitively, but casually.

trust me i understand i have gone through a lot of teams. most rage quit not due to anger at eachother but at ANET for not making the game ppl expected when it was bought.

once 1 team v 1 team comes out ppl will get back in the game lets just make sure its not on just temple because that will just make more ppl quit the game. it needs to be random every map. (yes every even the one with sharks)

last reply to you is ppl need to learn you can have 4 friends and ppl need to learn how to get 5 ppl all on the same page. once you are then this game is really fun. i personally wouldnt want to just play with 1 other person all day i want a team not a relationship.

actual its so u need to play all professions to know how some skill looks ingame. then u has to consider that some other skills has the same or similar animation. then that some animations are very hard to see on tiny chars like asuras. that the only reason asura is the most played race in pvp.

castbars would asura-player not giving an advantage and lower the needed amount of skill to play competive.. easy to learn hard to master should be goal not hard to learn and easy to master

im not to sure on this because my only character i ever had has been an asura mesmer it might be because i play so much but i can see the skills no matter what race they are. but if u say its harder to see i believe u. i heard other ppl talk about this before and i agree being an asura shouldnt be a crutch

at a certain point it doesnt matter if u see a castbar or an animation indicating what skill the oponent casts. all it does it moves the entry up for ppl to be competive. in summary i think u should stop posting with ur attitude

im not to sure on this because my only character i ever had has been an asura mesmer it might be because i play so much but i can see the skills no matter what race they are. but if u say its harder to see i believe u. i heard other ppl talk about this before and i agree being an asura shouldnt be a crutch

yeah its a matter of time to see the skills. but i think like gw1 u had still an advantage ikittennow the animation but the starter hat a clear signal too trought the castbar. so it would be easier to start and some l2p or whine treads wouldn be there if u see a backstabthief cast CnD on a castbar as starter. its hard to do see it on certain distance on that small asura. esp with small animations with huge impacts.

the same goes for ppl with bad eyes or red-green blindness all that animations put them in an disadvantage. but how u see on arheundel some dont want a easier start for newbies and they dont care about ppl with phyiscal problems. i also think that time should not the measure for being good or bad. so if u figure out fast what skill put u in an disadvantage and how the icon looks it should give u the needed skill to be competive against ppl with more playtime who has seen all the different animation on all races from all professions and remember them. there is still a skillcap to get an overview of the battlefield and teamplay and such more that separated good and bad players but it should not be the animation. cause there are also technical issues with that..
