Currently as a defender all you do is kill NPC’s, that’s right all you do is KILL NPC PVE PVE PVE.

It’s not a PvP game mode and its extremely far from it. You would be a LAIR to say it is, to even come close to fixing this game mode to make it a PvP game mode you would have to almost copy GW1 GvG.

But Anet made it clear they don’t want to use already a allready good PvP game mode, they want to make something that no one wants to play.

Honestly this is how it goes as defender, you race to your door you get there and wait, you meet 3-4 attackers you can’t treb and there are 4+ at the door coming at you, you focus them (NPC’s or the door falls) while the attackers focus you, while your doing PvE the attackers are shooting you in the face, honestly did you even think before you made this game mode or are you that dumb.

Fix it or delete the map.

Your complaint is self-contradicting. You say that as a defender all you do is fight npcs but then say you are facing 4 enemy players.

Vs a lord rush all you have to do is call in a 2nd teammate, spike the door breakers and then laugh as the other team flounders with no supply and noone defending their base. They will HAVE to turn around for supply because your inner gate is still up and then you can harass them all the way to the supply stacks.

Anet has made it clear that they dont want to have their game revolve soley on even fights. They want tactical objective based maps were sometimes lasting as long as possible 4v1 is the best thing you can do for your team. If you want to 1v1 go to custom arenas. If you want mindless Team Deathmatch play CoD

I don’t get rewarded for defending though. If I hold off an enemy team while my team does its job. I get no points, I’m at the bottom of the leader board and have nothing to show for my contribution.

By defending you are rewarding by not losing to the “oh, so famous” Lord rush. I don’t know either what has the Leaderboard to do here (and you already get 3 points by just spawning the initial DB or Archer you can, so it counts as you “haven’t been afk”)

And… the last part is true but you get rewarded equally having 50 points (because you defended excelently the whole game) or 300 points. You get the same reward at the end of the match.

This is why you barely done any SH, try fighting teams that run’s duel S/F Ele’s and Shoutbow and try killing there NPC’s you can barely touch a thing. That’s called tactics, right run bunkers that focus on healing NPC’s which is PvE PvE stupid bloody PVE.

It seems like you are one of a very few who defend the game mode in thread after thread. That should tell you something.

What can I tell you? Conquest has been here for 3 years, and there are still people who refuse to acknowledge that holding 2 points gives a much better chance of winning than running around dying at far. I’m sure you don’t like teammates who tunnel far and fight on the enemy capped point, leaving mid 3v4, right?

The same for Stronghold, a lot of people don’t do defense, then complain. Just like they don’t defend the cap point in Conquest, and complain it’s a mindless zerg. They blame it on the premade instead.

Defending is a very viable strategy. In fact, it’s a winning one, since with 2 players, you can shutdown their push. I know it because I have done it multiple times.

Nevertheless, if you don’t enjoy it, don’t play it. Just like I said the same to the zerging people in Conquest: if you don’t like defending the point, just go to a custom king of the hill and enjoy your “pure” pvp experience.

Gray out the HP for future condition damage
Already quit PvP. Just log in here and there to troll.

There are plenty of people saying good things about SH and throwing ideas out to improve it. There just seem like more people who hate it because its easier to type I hate it then to make a positive contribution. The vast majority of people I played with yesterday really enjoyed the new mode.

As a 100% bunker guard I had little difficulty killing enemy doorbreakers even with shoutbows or cele eles heling them.

All you have to do, when you’re defending is kill the NPC and run back into your keep/stronghold. I think the general consensus from the PvP community, is that this is PPT via PvE. PvE to win. Rather in conquest, there are PvE mechanics (ie trebuchet, lords, etc) but the focus is still PvP for your points, granted your main objective is capturing nodes but two enemies can’t stand on the same node and earn points, which forces players to PvP. In Stronghold, you aren’t forced to PvP, rather once the NPCs (ie the PvE objectives) are out of the way, you can sit back in security and waits it out.

I personally like Stronghold, but when I think more and more about it, it just doesn’t fit PvP mode. It feels more like the Activities you find in PvE (crab toss, keg brawl, sanctum sprint, etc.) Where players work for an objective and combat each other to stop them from theirs.

As long as my team wins,that’s enough reward for me. Who the kitten cares about leaderboards and how much points you got. It’s rewarding enough,if you can win your fight vs enemy player,if you can outlast and kite 2v1 or 3v1,if you do your job and your team theirs.
All the rewards that they throw at you in those chests are trash. Only worth having are tomes for alts and transmutation stones or what they are called,so you can change your armor,if you want. The rest is pretty much trash and a chore to get rid of by dragging it out of your inventory. And no,I don’t sell that trash to merchants.

If the lord was only a point boost like the normal conquest maps (150 points) instead of the objective then the mode would be more pvp focused. It would be a sort of deathmatch with an important point bonus on lord kill.

One thing is certain, if they do Guild ranking (as they announced) with a map filled with so many PvE elements the GvG ranking won’t mean anything.

The current GvG scene is much more accurate in regards to guild skills, even through it is quite flawed.

The best for guild ranking would be a Last man standing deathmatch map, where guilds can fight without PvE interference in a controlled manner in 8v8 or 10v10.
