SPEAK UP.
But why you wanna win? It’s much more fun get lot’s of kills than win.

Doesn’t work to do all that. People either want to learn or they don’t and if they want to learn they will figure out over time themselves either through trial and error or doing research. Before solo q there was still tons of solo newbs in team queue and explaining strategy didnt work with a most of them either. A lot of these people dont care they dont take advice and they dont even read chat.

It’s not really like that. I’m always trying to explain tactics and basics to my team, and since I started doing it, I had a lot more fun playing solo que.
Yes, sometimes ppl do not listen at all. A lot of the times I explained everything, and then at least 3 of them just go and zerg in the middle of nowhere while 2 of us can’t really keep up with the rest of their team being a bit more organized.
But, most of the times it works. Pinging and drawing on a minimap helps so much, as a lot of ppl do not actually understand english, so they don’t really know what you are talking about anyway. So, I started telling them just to look on a minimap, as I will be drawing and pinging a lot, so everyone knows where to go and what to do.
I had really bad luck of having 8 leavers in a row, so I was kinda stuck in the leaderboard mud, until I switched to my necro(been playing a stunlock warrior, don’t do that in solo que, it requires coordination, and most ppl don’t know what you are doing). So, I was in a team with 2 thieves, one was rank 3, the other one was rank 1. I was just drawing their ways, pinging where they should go, and they were always doing that. We were loosing in the beginning by 200 or so, and we managed to win, just because those 2 thieves were smart enough to actually think of the situation, and follow someone more experienced than them. They really did good, and I was really surprised, and kind of proud to see new players actually trying to learn the game.
There will always be ppl that don’t give a kitten about anyone and anything, and they are doing everything on their own, a lot of the times resulting in – nothing. But there will always be ppl willing to listen, learn and have good time and great fun because they are actually accomplishing something(winning, learning something new).
So, if you are experienced enough, try to take the leadership, as it will help you AND your teammates in a lot of the ways. If you are not, then try to ask someone who is more experienced, and follow his word, you will learn a lot, even if you don’t win. Otherwise, you can’t blame anyone(except leavers and afkers) for your loss. You will rarely be carrying your team because of your skill level(yes, you will be able to win some 2 v 1, bla bla, but it won’t really help your team much, if they are actually doing nothing). Try to carry them through tactics, map movement AND your skill. It works.
Saying that you shouldn’t explain things to newbies because a couple of people won’t listen is like saying you shouldn’t reply to forum posts because some people are kittens.
The PvP section of the game is not friendly to new people. I just started (only hotjoin thank you, you all can keep your SoloQ, synchQ, noobstomp, rig the game to be at the top of some leaderboard bullkitten) and so far I’ve found it to be very unintuitive and not very friendly. At first I couldn’t even figure out how to join a game. Now I know I’m stupid, but really. (I will admit that people on the forums have been grudgingly helpful)
Even though I’m always in the middle of the pack point wise people still feel the need to be jerks in chat. I have no idea that there are power ups or how they work. I figured out that trebs can be repaired but I have no idea how I would even go about finding a repair kit or anything else. Having someone explain the game would be very nice.
But by all means, continue to appeal to the lowest common denominator, keep your secrets, and enjoy having 50-60 people who actually play this mode. (Can you tell I’m a little put off by my early experiences)
As a noob, I really appreciate what the OP is suggesting.

Yep, and what I’m telling is that there are bunch on ppl like you, who would like to learn, but didn’t have a chance to do so.
Anyway, regarding treb and repair kits, here is a picture of their positions. If you are on a red team, your repair kit will be the one on larger distance from your treb. Usually, 2-3 shots in a teamfight will allow your team to win it. You don’t need to spend a whole match siting on a treb, as you could be more useful somewhere else.

Regarding buffs, they are appearing at 11:30, 8:30 and 5:30. Getting those buffs is of huge importance, as they can usually turn tides of a match, even if you started off badly. Upper middle buff is giving your team double the amount of points you are getting from nodes. So, if you have 2 nodes capped, that means that you’ll be getting 4 instead of 2 points.
There is also a lower buff, which is appearing on 8:30, and 2:30 I believe. If you manage to get that, all three nodes will be capped for your team.
Now, if you get both, you can imagine how much points you can get in a short amount of time, and it’s definitely game deciding, so always keep an eye on those buffs.
Also, there are buffs on a side, which awards +3 points for an enemy kill. If you get all of these, you’ll probably be able to win without much problems, even if you were losing badly in the beginning.
Thanks. I was trying to say that there are people who will listen. I have obviously been frustrated by my early attempts to figure this out.
I apologize for foaming at the mouth a bit.
I said to myself earlier ‘’ Ok, let’s try this solo Tpvp".
Dunno what I just played but really feel offended right now.
Seriously arenanet, no just NO.
I’m surely not the most “pro” at this kind of pvp but just want to say that from bunker had to go roaming to capture points because other 4 ppl I had in team, they been stuck at the middle base without moving at all for almost the entire match…
Nothing could help.. I told them to get stilness and tranquillity – obviously none did -, when finally moved from the gate, they went fighting completely away from capture points, all over the kitten place!
I’m not against ppl who wants to learn, can lose some match, dont mind – I prolly need to learn a lot more myself -, but losing 5/5 because ppl wander cluelessly, you tell them and they still do f***k all or leave, it’s horribly irritating.
Moreover acting like Tpvp is Spvp omg seriously.
Implement this kind of stuff was the worst thing ever.
I apologize but needed to vent -.-

I’m not stuck at the bottom R35 atm but I always do this and I promise it helps.
Skyhammer- The key to winning this map is controlling the center so we need to send 4 middle and split so we can win b and hammer. Whoever caps home cap it then come backup mid at whichever location needs it.
Talks like that at the start and just saying something as simple as “need 1 mid” can go a long ways. Win the opening fights due to proper splits/positioning and you can start to snowball teams.
what should I say to the guys who join the Q to stay afk?
happened to me 6 times in 10 games.
Hey guys with more and more people all getting ranked horrible scores , iv found myself getting a couple more evenly ranked games . Its still off balence, but atleast now when i do get a closer one in ranking i have a much better chance to win. =) I’m currently using a anti meta build on my guardian “solo q is broken” and winning alot more . I just focus on making my noobs stronger in team fights. Currently i just use boons to make my team out Might the other team(con bonus and dps bonus) and focus on taking away their conds . The rest is all built for healing and keeping my self alive. I try to direct the pugs to where i need them to go , then i make sure they win the team fight. Positioning and power are my keys to success =)
[Solo Q Is Broken]
most time you dont do your team a favour with telling them how to play – most ppl feel offended and a lot i saw trieing to do this at the start being simple rude and kill the moral before the match even started^^
All about how you approach it . I don’t call them noobs at the start . I just say buffs are key to this map or plz skip boss monster and go for mid . A clean start makes a big difference. Only time i get angry is when i draw on map and ask for help a lower buff and no one comes i get 2 or 3 v 1’ed by other team and get 3 capped for the loss . That’s the only time I actually raged. I mean cave men understood drawings…
