One of the major things I dont like about GW2’s instanced PvP content is that its not real open to replacing players.

And its Small Scale PvP 5v5, where a single AFKer/Quiter is more impactful than a AFKer/Quiter in larger scale PvP instances like those found in other MMOs.

In those other MMOs, there is a system in place for replacing these kind of players.

We dont really have that privilege here in GW2’s instanced PvP content.

I just had a player on the team quit when it was 400 vs 435 and simply stayed in the spawn location and /sit emoted while the rest of us was trying to play catch up while greatly outnumbered.

Its not a good system. This is one of the reasons I would rather have some mid scale instanced PvP added to GW2, similar to some of the modes in other MMOs, so this kind of behavior isnt as big of an issue as it currently is.

why would anyone want to be the replacement player? seems like an awful experience for them. can’t see why they should have to suffer along with the other four teammates just because of one leaver.

why would anyone want to be the replacement player? seems like an awful experience for them. can’t see why they should have to suffer along with the other four teammates just because of one leaver.

Other games have solved this by prompting players in the queue that a backfill spot is available, and that if they accept they will get the win reward no matter the outcome of the match.

I like that, and that would reduce queue time. I wouldn’t have done it differently. But we should make sure the game makes a difference between ragequit and temporary disconnects… maybe 60s delay/inactivity?
